My boyfriend ordered us takeout from Mario’s. He said the girl who answered the phone was very polite, which is a great first start, happy employees are always the best sign of a great company! We ordered a half cheese, half spinach and caramelized onion; it was delicious! We will definitely order here again!

Went for dinner with friends. We started with the mussels, they were delicious! Had to ask for extra bread to soak up the sauce. Then, we moved on to our main meals I had the scallops with fresh whole wheat pasta. My husband and friends had the homemade fettuccine. It was all delicious. Took home our leftovers and ate for two more days! We will be back.

So disappointed! I’ve been coming here for a few years now. The first time that I dined here, service was prompt and great. Food was great too! On the other occasions that I have dined in the waitresses were not attentive(slow night) and gave off the impression of being rude. We had ordered chicken parmigiana w/a side of meatballs and gnocchi in red sauce. The penne was not well done(still hard and dry) and gnocchi was not cooked all the way through. Will reconsider not coming back, unfortunately.

I initially gave Mario’s a 5 because of their pizza but I’m going to lower it to a 4 after trying their subs and calzones. Again, I enjoyed the flavors in the food that we ordered, but unlike their pizzas, I feel like the sub I got could’ve used more meat(chicken parm). The calzones were a bit different than what I’ve come to expect. The calzones we received had thicker, more bread-like crusts to them but I think I would’ve liked a thinner crust more.

I love this place. I grab lunch here a few times a week. The quality of the food is great with good customer service. 2 delicious large slices and a fountain soda for under 6 bucks is my go to!

To Whom It May Concern/Rachel who took my order: When I order two sandwiches, I’d like the two… not just one. Oh! And I’d also LOVE it if the chicken were thoroughly cooked(as opposed to baby pink like the undercooked flesh I just discarded). Lastly, now that there is an undeniable rumble in my tummy — in spite of the mere three bites I had! — I’ll be certain to alert everyone I know to stay FAR from this dive. Seriously, foodies: head to D’Amici’s in Reading for a freshly made sandwich that won’t distend your stomach.

Long ago, I worked down the street and used to frequent this place for lunch to grab a tasty slice or sandwich. 10 + years later, I stopped by because I was in the area and the food is just as good as I remember. The pizza was delicious– some sort of gourmet slice made even better because they serve wine and beer. The menu is just as diverse as I remember and the staff is still friendly and fast.

Ordered their SPECIALTY Pizza — Chicken Parm Pizza. I was very, very disappointed. What I got was a cheese pizza with not enough cheese to cover the pizza and then one thin slice of over cooked chicken parm on each slice covered by a thin half slice of provolone. They clearly put the cheese pizza back in the oven so that the provolone would melt on the chicken. I felt ripped off and felt like they tried to «con» me. There are a TON of pizza joints on Route 28 in North Reading. I thought I’d try a local place. Sadly, I should of spent my hard earned money up the road.

Overall a nice little place. Nothing fancy when you walk in. They have a little jazzed up seating area and a waitress. Food was nicely priced for the portion they had these great little bread nugget things. While I would not go rushing up there for dinner every week, I would definitely stop in again if I was in the area.

In response to your review, you could use breaded or fried chicken to better you buffalo chicken pizza. Grilled chicken doesn’t retain sauce and slices of chicken doesn’t fill up space as well as chopped chicken.

We had heard of Mario’s on a local facebook group and had to give it a try. A friend and I arrived on a Friday late afternoon around 4 pm and we were seated immediately and greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable waitress. She quickly brought some complimentary bread and bread stick nuggets which were very tasty and warm. It was served with butter but she also offered and brought an dipping olive oil. Very tasty! We opted for water as our drinks and began to study the menu which was very extensive. In the meantime, we ordered a «dinner» salad(field greens with honey balsamic glazed chicken) while we were still deciding on our dinner. The salad arrived and it was an ample size to share as an appetizer. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the greens(including tomatoes, roasted red peppers, cucumbers, olives and onions) were very fresh and the honey mustard dressing which is served on the side wasn’t even necessary as the marinade on the chicken was sufficient. We decided on sharing a 10″ veggie calzone(also available as a 14″) and a side of the breaded veal parm. Our entrees did not take very long to arrive and was paced just right. The veal parm was tender and sauce was light. The calzone was piping hot and loaded with veggies(broccoli, mushrooms, onions, peppers). We both left satisfied but not overly stuffed. The tables around us were enjoying seafood dishes which looked amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and so friendly which made the experience even more enjoyable. Our total tab including tip $ 32(water for drinks). Looked like a very local, loyal crowd. We’ll be back to try some of their other yummy offerings.

I recently planned a suprise celebration for a friend. A mutual friend of ours from the North Reading area suggested Mario’s Ristorante as the venue. It was just what we were looking for — no frills, cozy setting, and some real good Italian food. We reserved a table ahead of time for our party of nine. We were welcomed by a very friendly and attentive waitstaff who were all very cool with us bringing in balloons and our own cake to celebrate. Mario’s is a combination of a sit-down restaurant with a waitstaff and a counter take-out. The website states the full waitstaff begins at 4:30 so I assume lunch is via take out or delivery only. The menu also includes beer and wine at dinnertime. Mario’s offers a catering service as well for parties and events. Another great idea is the option of taking their own homemade pizza dough, sauce, and toppings to create your own pizza at home which puts an extra fun twist on family pizza night! What a feast we had at Mario’s! They offered bread and dipping oil once we were seated. Next we moved on to appetizers including calamari, buffalo wings, and stuffed rice balls. All the appetizers were delciious especially the rice balls. I chose the eggplant parmesan with angel hair for my entrée. I love my eggplant generously sliced and prefer it to eggplant sliced too thin. Of course, after filling up on all the bread and appetizers, most of my meal had to be taken to go so I got to enjoy it all over again the next day. At the end of the meal our waitress presented our cake complete with lit candles to our guest of honor. We were completely pleased overall and definitely had a very memorable night. Mario’s is tucked away in a small shopping plaza on Route 20 so be careful not to miss it. It is definitely a hidden gem!

I would give Marios 4 stars but some dishes could be 5 stars. Their mussels are excellent and they serve a huge plate of them. Their calzones are better than anyones. I love the italian cold cut calzone or the eggplant. The servce is excellent and their prices are pretty good too.

Basic Italian offerings. In past visits(and bulk orders) we’ve found their pizza, calzones and lasagna to be okay. Yesterday(Sunday) mid-afternoon we went in and spent $ 40 for food that was passable. The staff seemed irritated that we had arrived. The woman who took the orders was short and curt with her responses. I ordered the Tuscan Wings — on the menu it says 10 pieces. My plate had 8 pieces. When I asked about it, the waitress curtly stated, «No, it’s 8 pieces.» She walked away when I said the menu said Tuscan Wings has 10 pieces. The fettuccine Alfredo was swimming in sauce. No delicate blending of pasta and sauce here. Disappointed. My wallet definitely felt cheated.

Honestly if you live near here you’re lucky. I used to work down the street and ate lunch here every day. Crazy lunch specials everyday. Pizzas, calzones, sandwiches are all well made and taste the bomb.

After living in the area for many years we decided to give Mario’s a try last year. Since then it’s been our go to place for local Italian and good home-cooked take out. They make their own fresh pasta and also offer whole wheat or regular pasta. I frequently order the pasta with meat sauce and am never disappointed. Same for my son and girlfriend with the chicken and eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant rollatini is a recommended appetizer as is the arincini. We’ve always found the waitstaff to be friendly and helpful. Overall recommended.

I went here with my parents a few weeks ago. There is a takeout window and seating for casual guests that want to relax and take their time. The indoor area is a beautifully decorated in dark woods and granite tabletops. The appetizers were absolutely stunning. My parents still talk about the eggplant rotini to this day. I also enjoyed the arancini balls. My friend knows the owners and gets their pizza regularly, which is also pretty good, but not as good as their appetizers! Yum!

Around lunch time they have many types of pizza and calzones available so you can pick and choose what you want without ordering a whole pie! They usually have a few pasta dishes, ribs, and chicken parm readily available at lunch time as well. This place is more like an Italian Restaurant that happens to have a big menu and pickup counter. I have tried many of their pizzas/subs and have yet to be disappointed. My favorite thing to order is the Chicken Parm Sub and a slice of Sicilian. I think they have some of the best chicken cutlet around. When I first started working in North Reading, I went to Marios almost every day. I now go here 1 – 2 times a week but thats only because I bring my own lunch. Regardless, this place is awesome. I have tried out almost all of the other lunch options in the area and every time I go somewhere else… im left wishing I had just gone back to Marios.

So Ive decided to give this place a few more tries before giving it a better rating despite the worst staff ever. And so that failed(not surprised.) The skinny little cashier is still on her period and the rest of the cooking crew in the back still hate their job. My last experience with them was definitely my final. I placed an order over the phone for 1 sub thinking it was going to take no longer than 30 mins because it was literally down the street from my job so I called to see if they were on the way and the guy that took my order lied and said that it’s on the way. But 30 more mins had passed and finally 1 hour later my cold soggy sub arrived. I would of canceled my order but I had paid with my card so that was a mistake and lesson learned.
