Rude phone service. Sparce ingredients and sliced a circular pizza in square pieces. Do not waste your time or money.

I have been eating at, having food delivered from, and taking out from Captain Pizza for over 20 years and it’s always been fantastic. If you like Greek-style pizza, theirs is great and reasonably priced! They make the best meatball sub on planet Earth, and their steak & cheese sub is awesome too. The delivery is always fast and the driver is nice. They get a little crazy busy around lunchtime because they are popular, so be patient. It’s worth it. Great food, good prices, local business with nice people. Doesn’t get any better.

Good food. Good people own/run the place. Think Greek though. Gyros are excellent! Mozzarella sticks are best in town. They use Piantedosi bread! All subs are great. As are calzones. Not a big fan of Greek style pizza myself so I’ll skip rating that. Oh. Don’t like their French fries. Dry and mealy. Chicken parm subs, Steak subs, meatball subs ROCK. Spinach pie is awesome but they don’t always have it. Enjoy.

Ordered the buffalo chicken dinner and I am so disappointed. I love buffalo tenders and get them from places often. Captains do not toss their tenders in sauce and hardly put any on the chicken, there was a very small amount drizzled on top and I was not provided with any sauce on the side. The fries were soggy and loaded with grease.

My favorite pizza in Boston. Greek style, but not heavy. Consistently high quality. They’ve never gotten my order wrong and I’ve never been kept waiting. Owner is conscientious and takes pride in his pizza.

I’m not generally a fan of Greek pizza BUT I really like theirs! Awesome steak subs and chicken subs. Our boys like their steak tips, and mozzerella sticks. Basically this is a sub shop run by people who actually care about making their customers happy. Highly recommended!

Would give less than 1 star if I could. My husband and I ordered«boneless buffalo wings» and received wings(with bones) without buffalo on them. When we called and spoke to the owner, we were told we would need to pay for the exchange and that we were incorrect there was no buffalo sauce on the wings… did not get to finish the conversation because it was too insulting. I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment before. Pizza is ok, incompetence and accusations are not acceptable. Will never be back.

We get pizza from Captain delivered about twice a month, although the hubby would eat it every day if I let him. We like their chicken wings which sometimes have hot sauce on the side and sometimes don’t, regardless of whether you ask or not :) They are very crunchy on the outside but properly cooked inside, probably a frozen purchase from a vendor but it doesn’t matter. Note they are NOT Buffalo wings as they do have a batter-type coating. The pizza is consistently good and we do not find it at all greasy. It’s a fairly thick crust but not too chewy or heavy. Toppings are generous; we usually get a pepperoni and/or sausage and mushroom but sometimes go with the Greek or another style. We enjoy an occasional calzone or sub which are not huge but a good value for the money. The salads are nothing impressive but we find that is the case with most pizza joints. Delivery is usually pretty quick and the pizza always arrives hot.

The food is OK, but the service is poor. The lady that took my order had a pretty thick accent and bad attitude. I usually got the pizza or chicken gyro sub. Neither of which was worth putting up with the poor customer service. You can do much better with all the competition in the area.

Love me some Greek pizza! Drove by this place approximately 200 times and laughed about the name«Captain Famous» before my husband dragged me there. Now we don’t get our pizzas anywhere else(namely Mario’s). Don’t plan to eat in, the décor is leftover from the 70’s but the prices and food are great.

I still prefer, and haven’t really found a good NY style pie(haven’t been to HIFi pizza in cambridge in such a long time I forgot if it was as good or not). Captain Pizza is one of the three shops I regularly go to for pizza(mario’s, andrea’s being the others). It is to my taste, a combination of NY style and Greek, with a lighter yeast taste of traditional greek. I like both types. The sauce is quite good.

Decent pizza, greasy but ok. I’m in no rush to return. Don’t bother with iceberg old salads.

Ever since I was a kid, this has been my family’s go-to pizza place. That adds up to a lot of years of Captain Pizza. Granted, all the kids have grown up and moved on, but it’s still nice once and a while to visit the folks and grab a Captain’s pie. You can argue for or against the square cut as opposed to the traditional cut, but those little corners of mostly crust created by the square cut are always the first to disappear out of the box. Me? I go straight for the center, crust free pieces. So there’s something for everyone.

The only good thing about that place is pizza. It’s alright. The owners there suck. They don’t care about quality too much. The bread is rarely fresh and the salads… if the lettuce starts getting brown they show their generosity by giving those salads away«on the house».

I can’t believe I read anything negative about this place on here. Moved up to this area in ’04 and ventured to the Captain one night with my husband. I have to say I fell in love with their pizza with the first bite. I am a huge fan of their spinach and mushroom or spinach and artichoke pizza(their sausage pizza is good too!). Every time we have friends over for pizza we order from there and delivery is fast and they are nice. Our friends are all fans of this place too. Never got so many compliments on take out before. They are on Main St in North Reading next to Tedeschi’s… I’ve tried a lot of things from there, cheese n steak subs, eggplant parm sub, onion rings, and fries. etc but their best food item is the pizza. Excellent! They cut the pizza in squares rather than triangles; which is great if you have children who are sharing the pizza. I highly recommend you try this place!

I think Captain’s pizza has quality pizza. I have been there a couple times and both times the staff was great. It its a nice stop coming back from New Hampshire after a day of hiking or beaching on the North Shore/Cape Ann. Conveniently located on North St. off 28 and close to 125 as well in North Reading and not far from Merrimack College. Check it out :)

As a local corner pizza/sub shop, Captain Famous Pizza(no, not captain’s famous, «Captain Famous», like«Lance Corporal Amazing») is a winner. The subs are okay, especially the steak-and-cheese family. The pastas and salads are not the highlight, but their onion rings are a greasy delight. The pizza oven stays open later than grill, and features pretty thin crust with a sauce that seems to get raves from most of our friends that try it for the first time. The large pizzas are cut into squares instead of slices, unless requested otherwise. The staff are friendly and funny with the regulars, and the service is fast. In hundreds of takeout orders, I’ve never once had them lose an order on me. Haven’t done delivery too often, but when I have it’s been reasonably speedy. If you want to ditch the chains and go with the local pizza guy, make Captain’s your local spot.
