Genesis Grille & Lounge

We have been here on several occasions for dinner and drinks or just to have drinks and dance. Its a great new lounge. The food is very good… especially the burgers. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. They have some good bands on the weekends. We also came here for NYE and to watch the super bowl and had a great time.

I came here with a small group for the first time recently. The décor and vibe of the place is really nice. I had the Tiramisu martini which was good and the chicken caesar salad was great. I’ll be returning.

Friday night is R&B night!
It’s walking distance from my house and easy to get away, watch the game and relax. The owner and staff are very polite and helpful. I enjoy the food which they make sure is made to perfection.

Nice small quaint place. Medium sized actually. Good bands, good staff. Very nice club owner and nice people. We are not from there so it’s a great little getaway.

My girlfriend and I live in the area and noticed that a new bar was in the works — what was surprising about this was the choice of locale. If you live in North Providence then you know that this location doesn’t seem to bode well for bars; however, you may also know that previous bars at this location never quite hit the mark.
It was a Friday night so we decided to try out Genesis, as it had only opened a few days prior. The front parking spots were taken so we decided to park in the back. Though I’m pretty sure there’s a back entrance, we walked around and went through the front door. The moment we walked in we were greeted by a waitress and welcomed in. There was a good amount of people and and the bar counter itself was pretty populated so we decided to take a table on the far end of the room so that we could have a little space to ourselves.
The first thing you’ll notice is the atmosphere. This is definitely NOT a dive bar. The counter is wrapped in stone, lit from underneath the bar-​top. There are these gorgeous drum pendant lighting fixtures (tough to describe these — google them) and they certainly set the mood. There are TVs lined all over the walls playing various sports (they have the NFL ticket) and shows but you can’t hear anything, which is where my only complaint comes into play: the music was way too loud for our taste. I mean, we got used to it, but it’s still something we weren’t really into even as the night went on.
A waitress came over and took our drink order. My girlfriend ordered Sam Adams October and I asked what type of unique beers they had on tap or bottle. While the tap selection was standard, as she began listing off her bottled selection, she mentioned a beer that’s relatively hard to find at a bar: Not Your Father’s Rootbeer. I ordered it and the waitress told us how it’s one of her favorites. As she left the table we took a look at the food menu. We were half expecting the selection to be nachos and all the other types of generic bar food but we were pleasantly surprised. There was a whole section on custom grilled cheeses! With burgers and sandwiches offered too, it only took us a minute before something caught both of our eyes. The drinks came back to us quickly and we ordered our food: Bacon Burger for her, Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese for me.
The food arrived and wow, these were some large portions. I wish I had taken a picture of this beautiful food; I definitely will next time and I’ll upload them here. Both of our plates came with these amazing crunchy fries that we basically devoured. I tried a bite of hers and she tried mine. She’s not a fan of pulled pork but enjoyed it anyways. Her burger was very good and properly cooked to how she ordered it. The prices were more than generous for the amount of food you’re given.
After finishing our food, the owner came over to us and welcomed us to the bar. He was very welcoming, as was all the staff, and even offered to put a private light on for us at our table since we were kind of away from everyone else.
Overall, I highly recommend this bar. The food was excellent (we only took home some fries and a few bites of my sandwich, everything else was gone). After my beer I ordered one more and we left after that. The bar was very clean and female friendly; my girlfriend told me she definitely wanted to come back as we were driving off.
I didn’t know anyone working here before this visit nor did anyone suggest/​offer me anything to write this review. I wrote this long review because this is a bar worth keeping around. It can use all the patronage it deserves. At least try it and make your own decision on it.
