Even tho I live in the immediate area, Feb. 19th was my first visit to RRB. When we arrived I was concerned we would have trouble being seated, the parking lot was full, but the bar was full(Happy hour 4 – 6), the tables were open. We had a charming and efficient server. I did ask her her name but I can’t remember(I am sorry!!). Loved the nautical décor and the overall atmosphere. I look forward to visiting often. I had the seafood platter($ 27) and my companion had the flounder basket. We also ordered an order of hush puppies to go. We had arrived before 6, and were served drinks at our table at the happy hour price, very appreciated. I strongly recommend Rockefellers for their food, service and cozy atmosphere.

Oysters were nice and fresh! Shrimp in wine and butter were awesome! Shrimp and grits were a little different… Spicy but good. Tuna was seared perfectly. Great prices at happy hour.

Clam chowder is REALLY tasty — nice ingredients with a very creamy sauce, rich and satisfying and a little bit«Southern». Very nice ambience, decent prices, and the owner and his wife hang out at the bar — can’t beat that with a stick! Grouper fingers were lightly breaded, nice and hot, not greasy — absolutely perfect! Owner truly cares about customer experience, asks for feedback, obviously paying attention to quality. Also check out Brisket BBQ down the street under same management.

Best place in Myrtle Beach. Very clean place, excellent service, friendly and helpful staff. We visit this Restaurant at least two times on our annual visit. Make sure to try the hush puppies. Can’t wait to visit again.

We have eaten here quite a few times since it is very close to our condo. We have always been impressed with the food but this visit both my wife and I were let down. My wife had the shrimp cocktail and a salad. The shrimp were not as large or as firm as in the past and the cocktail sauce didn’t seem to be as good. I had the flounder and it seemed to be a little undercooked. The service was good as usual but the food just was not on par at least this night

For quite a few years, a visit to Rockefellers was a given any time we were in the Myrtle Beach area. Always looked forward to a known quantity of a good seafood meal here. I’m often told others that to drive from Myrtle Beach to Calabash to eat seafood is foolish since you drive right by Rockefellers on the way there. After my last visit, I can’t quite preach the gospel of this notion as enthusiastically as I have in the past. I could be mistaken, but I have the feel after this visit that perhaps the restaurant has changed hands, or at least, management. It just doesn’t have the feel and taste that it did previously. I had the seafood platter, and it was ok, albeit very greasy. Never remember the fried seafood here having a grease factor to notice. It was a very busy night when I was there, yet service was okay. I’ll give Rockefellers another chance, but won’t be as enthusiastic about looking forward to the next visit as I have in the past. Perhaps the next meal will prove me wrong.

Their happy hour 4 – 6 pm is great both for food and drink. The oysters and the crab dip were great and the $ 3.00 well drink’s made for a good time on a tight budget

This place doesn’t look like much from outside and so very small. Not sure where people park when tourist season is in peak season. But inside, excellent food. My wife and I ordered she crab soup and the steam pot for two. The soup was very«meaty» and very good. The steam pot was huge filled with crab legs, oysters, clams, mussels, potatoes, corn on the cob, sausage. After that I wished we hadn’t bothered to order the soup. It was almost more than we could eat. Almost! Definitely will come here again.

Absolutely fantastic experience. The hush puppies and oyster shooters were great! The service was informative, prompt, and focused on the quality of the food. A not miss when in myrtle! We will be back!

Someone previously commented the raw oysters were«warm» and didn’t think they were fresh; to the contrary these oysters were from the tank and freshly shucked. Yes not ice cold, but what if anything ever, «fresh» is served ice cold? The oysters are very good, small but are worth the value at $ 13/doz. I also had the She crab soup which was good, albeit has an unexpected hint of Nutmeg which was unique, not particularly my favorite but the soup was cream based, consistent and not split, and hearty. We also shared the scallops wrapped in bacon, baked loaded potato, and crab cake. The scallops and bacon, more so the scallops themselves, were delicious. I am a big fan of scallops and bacon but these in my opinion, were better separate from the bacon. They were perfectly cooked, fresh and not rubbery. The baked potato was meh, but what would one expect for that. It was obviously microwaved, however«loaded» appropriately that the spud itself was still identifiable in the mix. The crab cake was griddled and had a bit of grissle on the outside, but was real, and house made. It was good with the spicy Aoli. Staff interactions were good. Sitting at the bar, even with only one or two seats available, he was attentive and checked in on us regularly. Also very confident in answering questions about the menu on the spot. All in all we will come back again, if not just for the oysters alone. This place is the definition of laid back so don’t feel you need to dress up. The seats at the bar are captains chairs from boats with a nice elbow rest. The steam kettle station at the bar was nice to watch as well.

I only came for the oysters… which were average at best. Very small and frankly sad looking. I didn’t even finsh them all. I assume the fried food is a lot better to warrant the reviews. But for an oyster bar… they really need to get a lot better oysters. Very disappointing. On the flipside, the have a nice local crowd, a lovely waitress/bartender and good drinks.

My family and I had a great meal at Rockefeller’s! The waitress was very attentive and the manager or owner continually stopped by our table to check that everything was good. The seafood is truly the highlight of this place. All fresh and well prepared. We will be back for sure!

Let me start with saying, it was $ 70 for three people eating lunch. That’s disappointing to say the least. The place is exactly what you’d expect for a beach dive restaurant in décor and atmosphere. We started with the hot crab dip, which was delicious but hardly worth the $ 12. I ordered raw oysters on the half shell, for $ 13, they were delicious but small. However. They were served with fresh horseradish. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp po’ boy, and for $ 15, it was way overpriced, yet very tasty and fresh. His daughter ordered the fish n chips, which again, was tasty but not worth $ 16. The fries were fresh and crispy, though. Overall, it’s a dive with tourist prices. The food was good, but not fantastic and certainly not worth the inflated prices.

We like to go to places off the beaten path when traveling and based on the reviews here we thought we had a winner based on the reviews. We should have known things were off when at 7:00 pm on a Saturday night we were able to park by the door and immediately were seated. We ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell and had to send them back for being warm. It was evident they were sitting out for a good while. The steam pot was good but we had a better one at another in town. The server was very nice and took good care of us. Just wished we went somewhere else.

Love this place. This is our second time here. My sister and I shared the steam pot and it is delicious and certainly plenty of food for 2. We’ll be back next year!
