Have visited a few times in last couple of years as I live in Barefoot Resort. The positive is the location and great view of the Intercoastal Waterway. Beautiful setting and a nice indoor dining room. I wouldn’t say the food is a negative, but I wouldn’t say it’s tremendous either. The Shrimp and Grits are somewhat bland, especially for a restaurant in SC. I mean if you serve Shrimp and Grits in SC I expect them to be great. Having said that, the portion size was even more disappointing. Had to eat of the wife’s plate to keep from leaving hungry after paying $ 18.95 for my meal alone. The wife had the wedge salad and the appetizer of coconut Shrimp. Those were both pretty good. Much better than the Shrimp and Grits. I’ve been during lunch hours and been pleased but last nights dinner was a little overpriced for the amount of food and the food was average honestly

This was the second visit and sadly not as good as my first. Service was slow and they never delivered our appetizer. Our meal was prepared correctly but had nothing special bout it. It is massed produced food but it is always fresh. Cocktails were disappointing.

Family of 4 on a busy summer evening, small 15 – 20 minutes wait prompt service and great service! Food was absolutely amazing the southern fried plates are hands down the best. Clam strips best I have ever had.

We had excellent service last night for our first visit to the Flying Fish. We had a party of 10. We checked in at 535pm and was seated about 45 min later. We were told it would be 1 hour 10 mins. So pleasantly surprised with the shorter wait. The Mahi Mahi dip and crackers was so good and we could not stop eating it. I had the ½ pound shrimp boil and it was amazing. Other good items from our table were the fresh fish — swordfish, full rack of ribs, fish sandwich and shrimp and grits. All were delicious. We would Definitely return on our next trip.

We went on a very busy night, and there was an hour wait. There’s plenty to see, so this was no problem. We took a stroll and watched baby ducks, checked out some of the shops nearby. Its a nice area to walk around. We ordered hush puppies, coconut shrimp, and buffalo shrimp. All were hot and delicious. Drinks were prepared perfectly. The fun part is choosing your fish from the fresh selection in the case up front! I got crab legs, my husband got fish and chips, plus there were four kids meals, and my 11 year old got a fish sandwich with bacon, lettuce and tomato. The house fries were thick and not greasy. Everyone cleaned their plate! We would have loved to try a dessert, but we were too full. The staff was friendly and made the experience great. I also didn’t realize the restaurant was on the water. We will make it a point to come here every time we come to MB.

Great food & service. 14 in our party. Suggest the fresh catch of the day(red snapper) prepared as their signature preparation with the herb sauce. Had a variety of items and everyone enjoyed their meal!

Definitely a positive adventure, and would go again. Had the blackened grouper, wife had swordfish, both excellent. Raw oysters were great. Only good sense and finite size kept me from pouring further through the menu.

Staying across the street at the North Beach Plantation which I highly recommend I chose Flying Fish after checking out the Unilocal reviews. What an enjoyable dinner my family had. First of all really cool ambience and we were fortunate enough to get seated upstairs immediately. I got the three item fried combo with flounder, oysters and shrimp over a bed of fries. It came with fries, hushpuppies and two sauces, horseradish and cocktail. The wife got one of the fresh fish specials, red snapper cooked their signature way with fresh herb cream sauce. It came with rice and green beans. My son got the fish sandwich. Everything was wonderful. My fried seafood was flavorful, crispy yet non-greasy. My wife said her fish was delicious and my son enjoyed his sandwich. The fries by the way were on point. Highly recommended for a fun time enjoying fresh seafood prepared well. We’ll be back.

Shrimp and grits were excellent. Lobster Mac, buffalo shrimp, and a fish sandwich — no complaints. Fries were crunchy and irresistable. Interesting place with a great view. We would go back to try some of their other menu items.

We really enjoyed our meal at Flying Fish! The prices were good and the food was good. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, calamari, and sushi appetizers. The fried green tomatoes came topped with grits, shrimp, and a white sauce and they were awesome. The calamari was topped with a spicy remoulade that wasn’t overly spicy(which was completely fine with me). The California roll we ordered was decent. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but also not the worst. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which were presented beautifully. Unfortunately, they didn’t taste as good as they looked. The menu said that they came topped with ham, but I never found any ham in mine. They were also topped with a really good bernaise sauce, which made them so much better than they would’ve been without the sauce. The shrimp were small, but plentiful. The grits were super clumpy and not very good. My boyfriend had the New York strip, which was topped with onion strings and a flavored butter. The taste was great, but he ordered it medium rare and it came out without any pink in the center. Another diner with us ordered the fried flounder with chips and remarked that the fries were some of the best he’d ever had. Our server was excellent, although I didn’t catch his name. He was very attentive even though he had a full section of other tables, including several large parties. Oh, we also arrived at 6:45 and were told there was an hour wait, so they took our phone numbers to text us when the table was ready, which I really liked, because we were free to roam around Barefoot Landing while waiting on a table. We were actually seated within 30 minutes of checking in. Overall, a good experience. The views from the restaurant are great and the overall atmosphere is perfect. I’ll go back, but I won’t order the shrimp and grits as my entrée.

If you want everything to be heavy and greasy this is the place for you. We ordered the fish nachos. I was so excited. It was so so upsetting. The chips they use are so greasy that u can’t even enjoy the rest of the items on the top. Thin light chips need to be combined with such a heavy topping. What are they thinking! We would never come again. Stay away!!!

This place boasts an awesome view of the Intracoastal Waterway. The layout is spacious and very industrial but, it fits the theme of a fish market. I was disappointed because we came to eat prior to their happy hr, which looked amazing! I finally decided upon the clams steampot. You have to buy the base first(6.95) and add on from there. It can get a little pricey because your eyes will dance over the variety of what can be added. While waiting for my food, I indulged in the summer sangria. It tasted a little yogurty but, that can be remedied by making a fresh batch at the top of every day. Also by using fresh peaches instead of can. Over all I was pleased with my dining experience and the customer service. If I am ever in the area again, I’d consider this spot.

Can only comment on HH. Great specials including $ 5 sushi rolls. Fun atmosphere. Does get crowded for HH. Get there early. I changed from 4 to 3. Not going to comment on who, but one of your bartenders needs a serious attitude adjustment. If you have RBF, you probably shouldn’t be in the service industry.

Could not love this place more. My husband and I had a great dinner(he had the ribeye, perfectly cooked and I had a boil with crab legs and shrimp… which was HUGE) the service provided by Kara was great. We sat in the bar area to avoid the small wait for the dining room. There were guys in the kitchen throwing ‘flying fish’ the ambiance was fun and casual.

A Great seafood establishment, it’s a seafood market and restaurant combination the staff was courteous and very professional. The ambience was great and smoked mahi-mahi dip was excellent. The grilled grouper Cajun style was very, very delicious. this was the best meal that I had at Myrtle Beach on this trip

Great service. Boil menu is wonderful. Best cocktail sauce I’ve ever had. Everything overall is great. Awesome atmosphere. Nice break from the over commercialized nonsense of most MB.

I relied on local Unilocalers to help me find a good place to eat while on vacation in Myrtle Beach and I was definitely not let down! They serve smoked fish dip and crackers when you sit down and it was pretty good. They should’ve brought more than one small serving for 5 people, but we each had a bite and it was good. My mom and I ordered two appetizers of oysters — steamed and Parmesan — and they were just ok. The oysters were pretty small. The Parmesan ones were a little less than ok. The cheese was hard as a rock and inedible, so it was just peeled off and the oysters eaten. For my entrée, I had the seafood nachos appetizer. It was ginormous and delicious! I asked what kind of seafood was on it since it wasn’t specified on the menu. Our server said that when they cut down the fish(Mahi, grouper, swordfish, etc) into certain size portions, the extra gets put to the side for nachos. There was also scallops and shrimp. It was big enough for 3 people. My mom had shrimp and grits and it was delicious! No complaints at all there. Stepdad had fried shrimp and scallops and they were delicious to. He gave me some scallops(yay for me!) because he was full and I removed the fried coating and just at the meat. It was sweet and tender and cooked perfectly. Prices were good, food was good, service was good — I’d definitely go back fink had the opportunity!

Crab dinner was amazing. Best one I had during my visit to Myrtle! Everything served with the meal was good. Service was A+! Our server was very nice, he explained the menu, and throughly went over the daily catches and mentioned the market prices. He was also very good at explaining what some of the fish tasted like. Some, we had never heard of, and it didn’t throw him off his game for a second. We arrived around 5:30 and were seated right away. By the time we left there was a pretty big crowd waiting for tables. If I ever go back to MB, this will be the first place I stop for dinner!

(3.5 stars) Barefoot Landing has a number of different dinner options but I figure, if I’m visiting Myrtle Beach, I’m gonna have me some fish or seafood. And this place was a solid choice for doing so. They have a variety of different fish to choose from and I went with the swordfish, cajun style with fresh herb cream sauce. The cajun preparation with the herb sauce made for a really awesome flavor combination, but the fish was definitely overcooked. Even through the strong flavors, I could still notice the fish being slightly too tough. Nevertheless, it was still an enjoyable piece of fish. It was served with green beans and rice which weren’t great. The rice was okay but the green beans didn’t taste fresh at all and they were super bland. And they had no added preparation, no seasoning or noticeable texture. With such a compelling piece of fish, I would expect equally interesting sides to go with it.
