Riverfront Steakhouse

We took the grandmother and uncle here on a Monday night. If you are looking for just a step above in ambience department over your local Luby’s that happens to serve reasonably priced steak, this place is for you. If you don’t want to read any further, this place is just plain and reasonably priced. Don’t expect to be wowed and don’t expect to be disappointed. I wouldn’t take the fiancée on a date here (anyone considering a first date here should go elsewhere). She might have fallen asleep at the «biggest salad bar in Little Rock». (Yes, they have a serve yourself salad bar in the middle of the restaurant)
The restaurant is located in the Wyndham Hotel next to Bennihanas. I had the NY strip cooked Medium Rare. I wouldn’t recommend having them cook your steak for any longer as grandmother did (her fault) because it was plain bad. My strip was tasty and well marbled. Uncle got the chicken Marsala and it didn’t look very appetizing. We got a side of mushrooms and asparagus; mushrooms were good; asparagus was bad. How do you mess up asparagus?
We sat down at 6:30 and the place was pretty empty, our server might have been newer as she was clearly in the «weeds» with a larger party sitting close to us. She was pleasant but did not make it an experience or a $$$ rated restaurant. I believe the bill was over $ 100 for three of us, and I was the only one to get a glass of wine. I am giving this place three stars because of the feeling throughout the restaurant (dated and gloomy), service (pushy with the orders and then nowhere to be found after the orders were placed) and food (mine was great, others not so much).
As grandmother put it, «it was good, just not special». Pretty much sums this place up.

Drinks a little weak but OMG everything else was delish! We had reservations for two at 5PM today and were promptly seated. We didn’t know this ahead of time, but Monday through Thursday from 5−6PM, the restaurant has a BOGO special on select entrees. 16 oz Prime rib, 10 oz ribeye (my husband got this), 6 oz filet mignon (which I got), and some pasta dishes that I cannot recall at the moment. Salad bar is just a $ 3.95 add on.
Steaks were perfectly cooked, and the salad bar boasted some of the freshest greens I’ve had in a while. Note that onions were not part of the spread (I love onions so they were dearly missed!) Service was A-​1, although I didn’t get our server’s name… maybe James?
I had a Hawaiiantini and a margarita on the rocks… don’t get the Hawaiiantini unless you like orange-​pineapple flavor, and the margarita was pretty flavorless.
This was our best dining experience so far. We would definitely return!

This is the first time that I was very disappointed at this restaurant. Our server wasn’t friendly, didn’t come out to check whether our steaks are done properly. My daughter’s steak came out as rare, not medium that we originally ordered! This guy came in when my husband and I completely finished all our dish, therefore, we didn’t have time to ask him to fix my daughter’s steak. He stopped by our table only three times tonight; to take orders, bring the orders, and bring us a check. He didn’t even ask how our steaks came out. He just came to our table to pick up used plates.
I was very very unhappy tonight. :(
