Went to Doe’s after reading it was a Clinton favorite back in the fat days. This is a meal that will simultaneously clog the arteries and clear out the bowels. Tamales are good, and come with a thin but flavorful chili. Honestly though, you should skip the tamales and just be an all-out pig with the shrimp because they are GREAT. Lightly tempura battered large shrimp are fried to just the right degree of doneness. Yum! And they come with some hand cut fries on the side. There’s also a salad included — iceberg lettuce completely bathed in oil and vinegar, with a chopped up piece or two of tomato. The salad is an affront to good salads but nevertheless delicious. The t-bone came with more hand cut French fries, boiled new potatoes floating in synthetic buttery goodness and Texas toast. All in all, a delicious meal. We arrived a little before 6 on a Friday night and honestly the place wasn’t particularly busy. Don’t know if it’s the summer months or just how things are, but based on this one evening don’t worry about standing in line or waiting for ages for a table.

I had the TBone. It was really good. Seasoned a bit unevenly though. Some parts were bland and other bites were overly salty. I’ll go back next time I’m in town though. I like the no-frills menu though«steaks and potatoes». They don’t waste time with chicken, salmon, or other things.

There are times when you want to go to that«hole in the wall» place where the locals outnumber the others, sit down at a red picnic table covered table, order a beer and be happy eating good food… thank you!

Unique but simple. Steaks are big, plenty of food for sure. Service good. Would go back just didn’t knock my socks off.

One easy way of reviewing this place is by saying«This restaurant is over overhyped and over priced but I have to say the food is tasty» Let me start by saying the place in located in a weird neighborhood very dark at night and make me feel unsafe. Apart from that the inside of the restaurant is not very clean. The tables are sticky and there are bugs and flies inside the restaurant. Keeping the old rustic look is one thing and not cleaning the restaurant at all is another. I am seriously concerned about how clean the kitchen is inside. The food is definitely very tasty but not sure if it is worth the price. If you don’t care about the price and do not bother about the cleanliness of the place then this is definitely a place to try at least once if you live or visiting Little Rock AR.

If you have heard about this place & haven’t been yet: FORGETWHATYOU’VEHEARD. YOUNEEDTOGOHERERIGHTNOW. Family showed up at 520pm for 530pm dinner opening & there was already a line forming. It’s definitely a dive down in the nether regions of Little Rock & it just didn’t damn matter! For such a divey place we felt a bit under dressed. Jeans and tshirts were ok, but most people had semi casual attire. Anyway the spotlight of this place should be the food right? Before I went in I asked a guy if the crowd was for this place & if it’s as good as they say? He said he drives from Fort Smith to this location just to get the shrimp. Honestly I love shrimp, but I was there for the red meat. Seems majority of the patrons were as well. They started out with the tamales that we passed on this time(will try them next time). The service was prompt and our waiter was really nice. We tried to order the Porterhouse, but was told that all the porterhouse steaks were reserved via phone call. That’s nuts. That’s how GOOD it is here. The meat was sold out before the doors were even opened! We decided on a 2lb T-bone to share between us. It included a salad for each of us, an order of baked potatoes swimming in butter(yum lol), Texas toast & homemade fries to share. When the steak arrived, we kinda just sat there in awe for a moment. I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking…

What a disappointing experience! The food here is mediocre at best &WAY overpriced. Fried shrimp is better @ Red Lobster & you can get a better steak at Chili’s. Save your money and move on — you’ll get the same quality steak for ¼ the price with better ambiance. This place should be shut down.

Great atmosphere Great food for a little dive. The porterhouse steak was awesome best steak I’ve had in a long time. Along with their sirloin steak which was perfect and the shrimp was delicious and the tamales for an appetizer with chili on the side. Would definitely come back. And I highly recommend anyone to try to find something better. Of course we had a group of about 20 – 30 people. All enjoyed it!

If you want your steak left alone, tell them — otherwise they’ll cut it so you can share. This place is great and Dave makes some wonderful steaks here. Kudos on a Doe’s I’ll revisit every time I’m in Little Rock!

I was on a road trip and staying the night in Little Rock. This was absolutely the only thing I liked about Little Rock in the 10 hours I spent there. The wait staff was very nice and very helpful. We ordered the 3 lb. porterhouse at a medium temperature. Most of it was perfect temperature but some of it was a little over done. Not a big deal because the flavor was outstanding. The french fries and toast were really good as well. To me the salad was just ok. We didn’t touch the potatoes. I absolutely would’ve have given them 5 stars if it was just a bit cleaner. I love hole in the wall places and this place absolutely fits into that category but just because it’s not a fancy establishment I don’t think it should be dirty. The floors were very dirty. The only reason I even noticed is because my eight year old decided«fake» fall out of his chair. It was very obvious they hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. If I’m ever in the area again I will absolutely be eating here!

Lived up to the hype. Started with the tamales and finished up with huge T-bone steaks and homemade fries. The steak was cooked to perfection and service was great. Not a stuffy white table cloth steak house… much better!

The ambiance and location are not the reasons behind my less-than-stellar review. It’s probably part of the charm of this place. I came for the food, and I can’t scream and shout to the hills about it. The service was very good, and the server explained the concept and the menu. I guess they don’t get many single diners. For the uninitiated, the steaks are priced by the pound, and shrimp by the ½ dozen/dozen, and sides are included. The dinners are meant to be shared among the party. And these aren’t small steaks — T-bones(19.50 per) are 2 – 3 lbs, Porterhouse($ 22.50 per) is 2 ½−3 lbs, and Sirloins(17.50 per) are 3 ½−6 lbs. That’s a lot of cow! The smallest piece of meat is the Fillet, which tops out at 8 oz($ 35). This had better be one heck of a steak. I ordered the smallest T-bone they had. Unfortunately in my old age, I can’t pack it away as I could in my youth, so no six pound Sirloin for me. The salad came out first, and this had to be the worst salad I have ever had. How can you screw up a salad? The lettuce(mostly iceberg) was cold and wilted. The house dressing is a garlic-y vinegar and oil concoction. I normally love garlic, and will eat raw cloves. This was just so strong it overpowered. For what you pay for the meal, one would hope management would be a little more creative with the salad. The steak and sides came out pretty quickly. A platter with a HUGE T-bone steak and a HUGE pile of fries appears, along with a bowl of boiled red potatoes swimming in butter, and several slices of Texas Toast. The steak is cut into pieces, I guess to aid in cooking. It was cooked pretty perfect. No sauces needed here. But for the price, I don’t know if it was worth $ 45.

Wow! Very good food and fast friendly service. I went for lunch and I wanted to try a steak but they are 2 – 6 pounds each. I can’t eat that by myself. So I ordered a cheeseburger and fries with a side of tamales and chill. Amazing! The cheeseburger was delicious and so where the tamales. It was a delicious lunch. So much character of the building and wonderful personalities of the wait staff. Thank you!

3 hot tamales each and T-bone 2.5lb shared — certainly enough for 2. Great low key atmosphere with great wait staff. Place almost full with locals on a Tues night.

Ambiance: None. Huge Menu: Nope. Drinks: They have what you need. Tables: Checkered picnic style tablecloths Awesome Service: Not really. So why the 5 star rating? A 3.5POUND porterhouse that the cook prepared to absolute perfection, and the best side of french fries I have tasted in a long time. This place is ALL about the food, and if you are going for a perfect big steak, you could not find a better one.

While I was with a buddy of mine and new to this grand area that is Little Rock. I began searching ye olde Unilocal App, and by chance I just happened to stumble upon this glorious local eatery. I’m glad I sifted through the nonsense and found it. Unilocal, you hooked it up, and to show my gratitude I’ve made it a point to spread the word that is Doe’s Eat Place. Unilocal’ing it over the many chain oriented steak houses that are riddled through Little Rock. Doe’s Eat Place is awesome. There’s no other word for it. The menu, though simple, is perfection. You pick your cut, weight, and how you’d like it. They have the ability to cook one steak medium rare and well done. Ask another place to do that… I bet they can’t, haha! It’s all just very good. From the staff, to the food, and the location Doe’s is where it’s at, and where it will be for great tamales… I mean steak!(But they do have tamales, and though I’ve not indulged, I’ve heard great tales of their deliciousness.) Anywho, make the trip, and you won’t be sorry. I’d tell you to say Bobby sent you, but they would just look at you funny, and then ask, «Who the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is Bobby?»
