As expected, great food together with outstanding service! We thought we beat the rush hour but we did not, however we were seated almost immediately. If you are in this part of town or passing by, do not hesitate, you need to stop here and you will convince yourself!

I have come here a few times and the food is pretty good. Standard tasty diner food with big portions. But it is always loud and chaotic, so don’t plan for a quiet brunch. On my most recent attempt, we arrived for Sunday breakfast and 8, put our names on the list, and after everyone who arrived before and after us were seated, I checked in again but didn’t see our name on the list.. «You are next» she said. A few more minutes went by and we said we would just have to get carry out because we were running out of time. She said okay, but then walked away and never took our order. So a half hour after arrival we felt. I know it was a crazy busy Sunday morning, but I would have at least appreciated «oops, sorry we accidentally crossed off your name and will totally seat you next» but that didn’t happen.

The staff is always friendly. The food is good and a good value. It is always busy there and there are many regulars. Definitely a place to go for a good breakfast or lunch.

Real food! Everything is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive. My only problem is choosing which yummy food to order! Great breakfasts, incredible sandwiches, and homemade soups (among all the other homemade fare). I *want* to be a regular here.

This is a great café/​diner! I have been getting the egg white omelette with sun dried tomato/​avocado/​broccoli and mushroom. It is one of the best omelettes I ever had, all the veggies super fresh, and cooked perfectly. They also have a unique «pancake» omelette which is made of eggs, and they add oats and blueberries to it. It’s gluten free, and tastes like a pancake. The owner and staff are super nice, and quick. Love this place!

I have to say I’m not sure what the fuss is about. There was nothing wrong with State Street Café but also nothing that wowed me. Standard breakfast diner type fare. The service was friendly enough. The omelets were under-​seasoned as were the home fries, but I did appreciate both were cooked «well done». My daughter’s waffle with fruit looked pretty good though I didn’t taste it myself. All in all just very average for me so average rating it is. I would recommend going to the north end of town to the Breakfast Nook instead.

Quick, friendly service and yummy food. Only 4 stars because my hubby wasn’t impressed by his French toast but I enjoyed it. My 5 year old loved his loaded Belgian waffle and my «California» grilled cheese was great.

Food is great. Good size portions that make you leave satisfied. The owners are extremely friendly and are always welcoming.
Food is the definite plus of coming to state street café. Worth the wait and I recommend this place.

Staff is excellent! Extra pleasant and friendly and accommodating. Love the honesty how the kitchen was backed up. Love they give you lots of butter and offer real maple syrup, even though extra.
French toast is five star — thick and yummy.
Blueberry pancakes I suppose 4 star but I am jaded as I really like the Cracker Barrel wild Maine blueberry pancakes.
Hashbrowns were right amount of crispy and onions.
All the food served around us looked fluffy, oversized and excellent.
This is «the» breakfast spot to hit in this specific area, for sure.

Really nice little place. There doing so much to make it look nice and it really is. Nice people there and food is great. We get lunch there a lot because on Saturdays I work at vintage motorsports. Buffalo chicken wrap is the way to go. And turkey clubs.

Excellent breakfast. Much better than your typical «diner». Friendly and efficient service. A great variety of menu options. A no frills ambiance but this place is pretty big and packs them in which speaks to the food. It’s definitely worth trying for a traditional (non-​fancy brunch) breakfast.

Loved this restaurant! Visited while traveling and was ecstatic to find how clean this restaurant was! Inside it looked relatively new and very clean. Even the bathroom was in great condition and spelled good (bonus). The menu was very large and had good prices. I ordered a specific salad which came out great and I was very pleased! Also the service was very nice! I would definitely recommend!

I would definitely recommend calling ahead. We went to breakfast this morning, Sunday, and because we called ahead, we waited for about five minutes even though it was packed.
To say that breakfast was fantastic would be an understatement! The service was fantastic. The food, beyond compare. I had the Italian omelette and would recommend it to anyone. The hashbrowns are fabulous and you can tell they are made fresh.
We live in New Hampshire but our daughter goes to college in New Haven. I will tell you that this will be a regulars stop when we are down.
I can’t wait to try it for lunch.

This place is great a hidden gem. I really enjoy my food and the ambiance every time I go. The service is quick and friendly, the food is good and plenty. Be forewarned, there is a wait to be seated but it’s absolutely worth it
