Enterprise Rent-A-Car

For the last few weeks I have been in Charleston, SC. During the week I take Über everywhere but, a few weeks back I decided to rent a car. I go the airport it’s hectic to put it mildly. So I keep the car a few extra days. So when I get ready to return it I reserve another car for the upcoming weekend… you know the $ 9.99 special. So I call the 800# I explain that I want to just keep my car since I invariably rented it in the beginning on the weekend special. They said «no» you must return the car and re-​rent another vehicle… I say ooook. Then I ask can I drop the current car where I had to go to pick up the new car since it’s only 2 miles away, and I would have to get a taxi to get back to the other location. The guy says sure let me tell you what the drop off fee will be… I’m expecting $ 10.-20 bucks max! He says $ 125.00 I’m like WTF! I say never mind I will just go to airport drop off car A, and head over to Jones Ford, and get car B. So I try to make this strategy to maximize my time so I go to rent car B, so I can leave and return car A. I get to the counter, and the young lady starts my process explains my options for ins, upgrades… ect. Then I ask… Can I leave car B, and go drop off car A she was like hold on 1 min. She works some magic I re-​rent car A, close out original contract from the airport all in an additional «5» min! To top it off I was late returning the car, and they waived the extra time! Now that’s what I call taking care of the customer! So every weekend I go in I get my $ 9.99 special from Jones Ford Enterprise! You gals & guys are the bomb!

I took my F150 into Jones Ford for service and decided to use Enterprise since they are onsite at the dealership. So far we have been waiting an hour to have a car brought to us after taking care of the paperwork. Waiting to see if my truck will be ready before the rental car gets here.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review for anything, but my experience compelled me to. I had a reservation for an economy-​sized car which I made several days in advance. When I arrived there were no economy or sedan cars available. What’s the point of a reservation? (Seinfeld, anyone?) Of course they offered me a «great deal» on an «upgrade» to SUV. I prefer a small car and didn’t want to pay extra for gas. I’d have to wait 45 more minutes for a sedan, so I took the SUV. When I got in the SUV it was on completely empty. They said I could just get gas and return it on empty. I did not want to drive the car down to empty. I waited while they put gas in the car but they only filled it up to a quarter tank. I personally think this is a scam because it is harder to accurately fill the tank back to a quarter tank than to full. I had also just told them that I don’t like to drive with less than a quarter tank. Now for the worst part of the experience… The car smelled SO intensely awful like extreme body odor covered up with heavy perfume air freshener. Honestly my eyes were actually burning and watering and it gave me a headache and nausea that lingered the whole weekend. I had to drive with the windows down in 90 degree heat. When I returned the car and politely complained about the horrible smell, the two young people working responded by complaining about times when they themselves had smelly rentals, but took no professional responsibility for the inconvenience I had as a paying customer. Otherwise they were nice, but the experience as a whole was not good and I wouldn’t rent there again.

There’s a reason why I use Budget over Enterprise. Yet again, they have confirmed it.
