Tropical Smoothie Cafe

I come by here in the mornings before class to grab a smoothie for breakfast. I’ll call my order in when I’m 10 minutes away, so it’ll be ready by the time I get there. Usually their service is quick and my smoothie is ready for pick up, but some days they are unbearable slow and I’ll wait around for 10 – 15 more minutes after I get there for my smoothie.
Service is friendly and the place is fairly clean.

The food is good, would choose this place over Panera and Panera is goood. However, they are incredibly stingy about extras and nickel n dime the customers and employees. They would be wise to follow Chikfila’s lead and take off for items you have requested to hold (no onions). Also, no side with flatbread purchase? Chips are incredibly cheap, come on man.
With that said, there is always a bunch of bratty customers (spot the jerk wearing sunglasses indoors) hassling some underpaid employee and trying to pay in Chuck E Cheese tokens or steal their tips so I feel like their Unilocal score should be higher because they are no doubt writing some ghoulish reviews on here. Mariah, Adam, and co. work incredibly hard and deserve better.

Recently Horrible! Disorganized; No Adult Supervision And I’ve Had To Have My Smoothies Remade On A Number Of Occasions.
Here’s A Tip — I’m Paying $ 5 For A FRUIT Smoothie Not A Cup Of Ice And Some Fruit Pieces.

Very friendly staff, excellent service, thanks Adam. Very clean and inviting inside. The music has all the customers dancing. Did I mention the food came out perfect? Very fresh and just the right amount of sauce… unlike my experience at a different location.

Love this place! Great smoothies and awesome staff! Prices are reasonable and plenty of seating. Located right in the center of downtown Norfolk with many other restaurants and events within walking distance!

Rude service, the cashier kept mumbling under her breath because I was trying to use an Entertainment coupon off my phone and it was taking awhile for it to load, then she stood and glared at me while I was placing my order. She was having a bad day apparently. I just turned around and walked out. Coupon or not it wasn’t worth it.

Was really craving a smoothie after Beerfest on Easter and was beyond pleased to know they were open. First time going to a tropical smoothie and will definitely be back. Had the berry blast smoothie and it didn’t even make it back to my house before it was gone.

Love, love, love Tropical Smoothie Café! BIG fan! Healthy, tasty food, great prices with coupons to boot, what’s not to love?!

I love this place. The smoothies are so good. There’s this one guy there (don’t remember his name) with a beard and glasses and he’s always so helpful is choosing a flavor. I know just who to ask if I wanna try something new. Also you can call ahead of time so that it’s ready ahead of time!

okay so i understand that you don’t sell the peanut butter smoothie in a kids size, that’s franchise wide. i don’t like it but i can handle paying $.25 for an empty kids cup.
but what i don’t get … why can’t you pour the smoothie into the kids cup for me!!!
i have already paid for the smoothie & the cups, so i own all the components. you can’t do me the service to pour the smoothie into the kids cup first… then give me the left over in my regular cup!!! ???
it’s not like there is any extra, i am not pulling the wool over your eyes.

Just used Orderup for a wrap and a salad. The Jamaican wrap is flavorful, but my salad is pitiful. Maybe an ounce of dressing and a cup of lettuce.
Never again.

Friendliest gals, always pleasant when I give them my custom smoothie and meal orders, which I always do! They are prompt and everything is as it should be. Bonus is TSC text and Belly discounts!

The owner (or manager ~ can’t remember) called and patched everything up.
They are trained to make in-​store customers orders along with online orders until the online orderer shows up for pick up.
We think there was a miscommunication between the front and the back and they probably were not informed that I showed up 5m after the order was placed online to wait for it.
She was very nice and apologetic. She has already talked to the staff. I work in the service industry and now that I know it was an honest mistake I am leaving 5 stars.

Really wide selection if smoothies — which are delicious. Smooth, not icy. I had a peach, banana, strawberry combo that is hard to find.
I also had a chicken flatbread from their selection of wraps, flatbreads and sandwiches. It was great.
Kids got chocolate banana smoothies and everyone was happy!

Smoothie was good — not phenomenal. It would have been better if it was a little more flavorful, concentrated flavor. A little too icy for my taste. Person that was with me ordered a sandwich. Being that Panera is just across the street, in the future I would just go there for soup/​sandwich.

Dd you know that Tropical Smoothie caters? I didn’t know until I was looking for fresh ideas for my wedding reception and a friend suggested it. What a great idea for a summer wedding! I hired them to do the cocktail hour and people LOVED the smoothies! Their prices were very reasonable and the staff was super friendly. I recommend them to anyone! (It also helped cut down on the liquor costs ;))

Pretty darn tasty and if you get the Splenda option you can save a lot of calories! The service is good and the establishment is always clean! This is a must go to place!

Went to this Tropical Smoothie location yesterday after a hard work out at the gym. It was around dinner time when we went in and there was absolutely no one in the store so we got super fast service. I ordered my favorite, the Jetty Punch except this time I tried it with Splenda. When you get a smoothie made this way it makes the calorie count much lower than when it’s made with sugar. It was pretty good but it did kind of have that fake sweet taste.
The staff here was nice, and they made our smoothies very quickly. It seems at one time that it was more expensive to order the smoothies made with Splenda but apparently they have stopped charging extra. It was a really nice and refreshing treat after a hard work out.
