The food and service are fantastic. The inside is nicely decorated. We had Samosa’s, Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan. The food can be spiced to your taste. The Somosa’s were great and came with a variety of sauces. All of the sauces were excellent. My favorite was the mango chutney, nice and spicy! The sauce on my butter chicken was velvety smooth with medium spice. So yum! The garlic naan was very good and addictive. This is my now favorite Indian cuisine place! Check this place out. They also have a lunch buffet seven days a week. And you can call for take out too!

Ah, I don’t want to give this place 3 stars! The food really was superb, so let’s get that right. But the service combined with the look and feel of the restaurant… They have a lot to compete with as far as Indian restaurants in the area go. Inside it feels like they haven’t changed much since the last restaurant was there. As usual in Indian restaurants, though, they have a tv on with a Bollywood film. The servers are dressed very formal(which was a bit awkward considering the casual décor), and I hate to say this(because I know the struggle of starting out as a waitress!!) but the servers really had no idea what they were doing. Their training must have been very minimal, I really left feeling bad for them.(If you need examples just ask) All of these things could be overlooked by the great taste of the food, but the prices were the same as other local Indian restaurants. It’s not fair to charge the same but give significantly worse service and have a restaurant looking unfinished.

Super happy to have found this place. I’m from a South Asian family and living away from home really makes me miss more authentic food. This place was closest to home I’ve had in the area and hits the spot. Their meat samosas were great, the lamb vindaloo — dang, that meat was cooked great. The chicken tikka masala was great too, just not spicy even though I asked for super spicy(that didn’t stop me from enjoying it). I could eat about 5 servings of their garlic naan. I also had their chai masala which was EXACTLY what I know chai masala to be. Their rasmalai was perfect as well. Their service is alright, my server was sweet, just seemed to fumble over the names of dishes which is pretty understandable if you’re not used to it. This is definitely now my go to Indian spot in Norfolk.

Was never about how hot for spices. Then with the one that had for our to go order was very lacking flavor. Get Indians to cook it like the do overseas and you might be good. Too americanized…

The waiter is extremely helpful. He recommended and explained each menu item we had question on as my friend and I were confused over the menu. The food is amazing and you wouldn’t understand the amazingness till you come and try it yourself! I really recommend you to get the appetizer Samosa(potatoes&peas). Overall, it’s a great experience!

This is the best Indian restaurant in Norfolk. The sauces that they prepare are so rich and decadent and flavorful. It makes me want to come back every week. And their Naan-is absolutely addictive and sensational! They are cooked to order. The only problem that we had was half of the tables food arrived and it took another 10 minutes for the rest of the food to arrive which is a long time. But I have been other times and not had this issue. Definitely my go to Indian place in Norfolk!!!

Ambience: We walked in and the(presumably)owners child was crying loudly upon entry into the restaurant. This must be the place. Tandoori chicken had a nice color but not overwhelming in taste and dry. Tikka masala was sweet and buttery without any real flavor or kick. Naan was not available for buffet until we had nearly finished our second plate. Pakoras were soggy and no chutney available for dipping. Save your money and go to Saffron. Only plus was they did have an above average variety of dishes available at the buffet.

This is the same place as the Caribbean restaurant with the horrible service. I’m sad to say that the service at this place is worse. :(This was the worst service I have ever had in my entire life. I waited 30 minutes plus for a check and the waiter kept sticking his finger up at me saying he knew and to hold on. He did everything else under the sun but bring me my check. I was not the only one that did not get my check. Their were numerous other tables waiting for checks. The food was really good although it did not come out at the same time. The naan came out 10 minutes after our meal did. Others were complaining about this also. The food was ordered indian hot and it came out pretty mild. Could not find a waiter to get a spice rack. I would give the food 4 stars. They really need to get it together. Very scattered. The décor leaves a lot to be desired.

A great addition to the area. Very affordably priced buffet. Spices are a little different than the other local Indian restaurants. Palak paneer had a very fresh quality, you could still taste spinach. The tandoori chicken may have been a little dry but flavor was great. Interior spacious although a bit spartan. But I’m here for the food so who cares?

I’m so happy to have such a great Indian restaurant soooo close to home. I’m a big fan of Indian buffets. I like to have a little of everything and I’m never 100% sure what to order… if I had to order straight from the menu, I would always order tikka masala or butter chicken, so this gives me the chance to learn new dishes. The buffet is all week during lunch time and it’s 8.95 mon-fri, 9.95 sat and sun. I’ve had lunch twice in a matter of 2 months, so I think that says a lot. The food was really great and the freshly made naan delivered to your table was awesome. Now I want to go tomorrow for lunch…

Great, quiet little spot for Indian food! The menu is huge and the food is delicious. Try the chicken tikka masala or the chicken korma if you want something savory. They also have amazing vegetarian dishes and even serve beef(surprising for an Indian restaurant). This place will only get better!

Pleasant surprise. Nice hidden gem. Almost drove past the place. Some friends told me about this place. It’s very quiet. They have a menu and buffet. Food is great. I’m always a fan of The bread. We even asked and they made some curry goat for us since it wasn’t on the buffet. People are friendly and prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back.

we love Indian food period. We have tried almost all of the local places and have been meaning to try this one since they’ve opened. Tonight we ordered delivery and the food is AMAZING!!! Just as good if not better than other local Indian food. Also — delivery was right on time which is always really nice. Thanks and can’t wait to enjoy a dinner or lunch in the restaurant itself!!!

Decent food but they never pick up the phone when trying to place and order and the landline is always busy.

First, this is easy to miss as you drive down Granby Street because it is tucked a bit back from the road, in between Mary Barnett and Subway. Nice to have more Indian options in Norfolk. Visited for a Sunday family dinner and there was definitely something for everyone to enjoy. Several large screens showing Bollywood films provide some entertainment. No ABC license, but apparently it is coming. Overall, the portions are very generous — expect to bring home leftovers. Agree with other reviews, the prices are good. Our wait service was quite attentive, but the food came out slowly — and it was not crowded. I attribute this to the kitchen making fresh entrees, but be prepared to wait a bit for your orders. Complimentary papapdum, with chutneys on the table. We tried the meat samosas, vegetarian dinner for two, tandoori chicken, and keema naan. All were good, and the naan was fresh, buttery, and hot. The veg sampler dinner includes a lot of food. Unfortunately for me, I was not thrilled with the entrees included, but I’ll order a la carte next time. They were just too rich, even the saag paneer and chana masala. I never like kormas(too heavy), so I knew that was going be a bust, but my husband enjoyed everything. The menu includes several entrees not usually found in HR, so I hope to come back with a larger group so we can try them.

Their food is delicious, although not very spicy. Let me correct that, it has an abundance of spices, but when an item on the menu is described as being«very spicy» you expect a certain thing. If you like your food hot, you may want to request extra spicy. Their prices are very good. I love lamb and their lamb was priced the same as their other meats so that excited me. The appetizer sample plate is a fantastic deal. We fed 3 people with entrees, an appetizer and two teas for about $ 50 with leftovers. The only downside is the décor. It’s very bare and very orange. However they’re newly opened so I’m not going to count that against them especially when their food is tasty. I definitely want to go back to try their lunch buffet because it looked to be a rather large one.

First and foremost this place had the worst service ever. We waited forever to be seated, forever to order, weren’t even asked if we wanted anything other than water, and then about 20 min after I got my food, we finnaly managed to get a waiters attention to ask him for the rice that was supposed to come with my meal. My water was never refilled until after they asked if I was done. My wife’s dish had a billion crushed bones in it. They brought out a sauce for my wifes dish about 40 min into the meal. I would say the shortest wait was for the check to come after we said we were done(big surprise there /s). The only reason I gave this place more than a star was at least it was clean. It was clearly thrown up in a hurry. The table lights had no bulbs in them, the TVs still has their plastic and stickers on them, the receipt was handwritten, and their card machine was just one of those cheapo card readers connected to a phone. These aren’t necessarily bad things, just things to show how hastily this place was thrown together. I’ll never come back here because the service was so inattentive. We wanted to try a different Indian place but from now on I’ll just stick to the tried and true spots I usually go to.

Sat and had a delicious meal with my mother and brother. The richness of the sauces in the Lamb Vindaloo and Butter Chicken were phenomenal and the flavors in the naan were amazing. There is obvious effort put into every dish to ensure classic dishes don’t get brushed under the rug. Service was professional and polite, making conversation. I hope this place kicks off the food and service is SOWORTHIT.
