The restaurant was nearly empty but our server was nowhere to be found. The food was as bland as anything I’ve ever had. While we were paying, my wife and I agreed that we would never waste our money here again.

We came here while moving into our apartment. We were starving and thirsty. We all had combination dinners with beer/​margaritas. The server was very well informed on the menu. The drinks came out fast, and they were gone quickly. He complimentary chips and salsa were very fresh. The food came out fast as well. The beans, rice, burritos, tacos, and enchiladas were all delicious. We plan to make this place one of our regulars.

The food was not great! The horchata taste like something you buy from the store. The Sangria smelled like «Trapo Sucio «(dirty old towel). Im Mexican and this place is not authentic! Never coming back here again.

Had the taste for Mexican food, my friend recommended this establishment so gave it a try. 1st the service was great the waitress was very attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing. The food was delicious, I carne asada platter!

People, to my knowledge, Mi Hogar DOES NOT DELIVER! just a heads up! Already called them to inform that Unilocal says they do… But in fact they DONT! But food is awesome! Have loved this place for, about 8yrs! I love that they don’t take a whole hour to place the food on the table! And drinks are great!

This place is just ok… It’s just fine Mexican food. The service was very good, but the food was kinda bland to be honest. The drinks were good though! I’ve definitely been to more flavorful places around here. So, depending on what you’re looking to eat… you choose.

Just here on vacation from Ohio this place was great. Service was excellent, bathrooms were very clean! We had lunch here and it was great! Only bad thing was it needs a remodel but still clean, and they made up for it on everything else!

I can’t believe I’ve lived here in Norfolk for 9 months and haven’t been here yet!!! My boyfriend got the lunch #4: it comes with a chile relleno, taco, and refried beans. I got a new menu item, the fajita quesadilla with chicken. It came with guac and rice.
The salsa is super fresh and has great flavor, the cheese sauce is a guilty pleasure, and the quesadilla was just the right portion. Apparently the #4 was good because I never even got a taste!
Our waitress, Mary, was super friendly, worked quickly, and never let us go without refills of our drinks or salsa. I now need a siesta!

Decent Mexican food. I got the chicken quesadilla and it was pretty tasty and cheesy! My boyfriend got the beef tacos and rice and said the tacos were average but he did enjoy the mexican rice. Service was friendly and super fast!

As a Texan, I’ve had my fair share of Mexican food. I LOVE Mexican food. Mi Hogar, however, is absolutely disgusting.
I ordered the nachos supremos and was disappointed to find a plate of soggy chips covered in too-​big-​for-​nachos chunks of mind-​numbingly tasteless chicken, really gross refried beans, and a mountain of wet lettuce.
The waitress acted extremely irritated when I asked for no tomatoes due to an allergy, and informed me that the chicken comes with tomatoes in it. Which leads me to believe that it must not be made upon order.
I most definitely won’t be returning!

I ordered delivery through the Unilocal thing. This place had pretty good reviews so I had no issues with trying it. Now, I am NOT NOT NOT a picky person, seriously look at my reviews of other places. Get me my food, I’m good. just about a 5 star rating right there. I am a total glutton when it comes to food.
Not the case here. It took an hour to get our food (did not have any updates saying they where busy or some excuse) turns out the guy that was suppose to give us our food waited in this joke of an establishment for 15 minutes if not more. Their prices for take out are crazy. 3.50 $ for an itty-​bitty sauce cup of cheese. lol wat? Didn’t really get 100% of what we ordered.
Of course, our food was cold. My husband and I where able to get a refund on this «food» thanks to some pretty cool people that were from Eat Street. But wasted 2+ hours for shitty (BONUS: Cold) food. You’ve been warned, please take heed.

I have been here several times and all times I have left with a full stomach and satisfied. The service was pretty good, the waitress was very attentive and helpful. The chips could have been a little better and maybe the salsa a little more spicy. The main entry was pretty good and tasted home made which is always a plus. The sad part about this place is that it lacks curve appeal sort of speak. Just don’t judge a book by its cover on this one.

Let me just start off by saying Mexican is my favorite type of food so I’ve had my fair share of eating at different establishments. My husband and I ate here for lunch and the food was completely tasteless. The beef had no flavor what so ever and the chicken wasn’t much better. The waitress we had was pretty friendly however. I don’t understand how people can say this place is the best Mexican in the area. We’ve eaten at another place off of little creek road and enjoyed it so much more. I don’t think we will be returning. I’ve never had such bland tasting food in my life.

The chips are overbooked, the salsa has to be canned tomatoes with some flavoring, and sorry to say that none of us (out of 6 people) liked our meals. I fear they are riding on their location not quality.

In a nutshell, the margaritas are strong and delicious and so is the dish called fajitas paisa (tip: ask for corn tortillas). The staff is very attentive, kind and timely! Best margaritas I’ve ever had in VA!

How can you screw up an entire order??? I ordered my food to come with all chicken because my husband and I always order out food that way when we eat there. But somehow they managed to mess that up entirely. I said chicken about ten times on the phone. When I called to tell them about the order being screwed up, they fumbled their words and said oh what so what do you want. Wtf. I want my money back. I had to tell the person on the phone our order multiple times and they still were clueless. There is so much better mexican food in this area. We will not be back! Maybe if they were willing to fix it to our satisfaction then I would be a happy camper. But screwing up a simple order for two people is just ridiculous. Okay, ranting done.

Thinking back to when I was a teenager, you couldn’t get me to step foot in a Mexican restaurant… I guess I was worried that there was no way to figure out what I was ordering (I guess I thought the whole menu was in Spanish…) but that’s a whole other story…
Ah Mi Hogar. I work right up the street, so the folks know me and my co-​worker and half the time already know what we are getting. One of the things I love is that regardless of whether you are strapped for time with a 30 minute lunch break (this is most of my visits) or have a little more time for a casual, relaxing lunch, this place has you covered! The staff is always friendly, from the person who seats you, to the young man who brings your chips and salsa (and white sauce upon request!), your server, and the cashier. They’re all good people — and that’s half of the dining experience.

Mi Hogar has consistently delivered warmth, friendliness, great food, yummy drinks, fast service and cheap prices to me for over 9 years. Need I say more?
Ok, I will :) They are my favorite Mexican Restaurant in all of Hampton Roads and I recommend them to anyone going out with a date, family or even on your own. The staff will make you feel right at home.
The first Wednesday of every month they have live Mariachis that are so heartfelt and genuine. My Meetup group and I came and enjoyed dinner, drinks and music last night. We had a whole left section of the restaurant all to ourselves. They were very accommodating even though I had no reservation. Mi Hogar is truly a gem among gems!
