The only reason I didn’t give them five stars is because they don’t deliver. Please start delivery, Siam’s House! Their food is fantastic. Truly authentic and great flavors. If you like Thai food and are looking for a local place, this is the one. Very timely and pretty good service when you’re there(usually do take out). We’ve enjoyed a little bit of everything and it’s all good.

I eat here at least two to three times a week and pick up just as much so it’s safe to say I love this place. I’ve ate at numerous Thai restaurants throughout IL and other states and nothing comes close to the flavor and authenticity of Siam’s House. I usually order one or two of these and these are all crazy delicious and I have never had a bad batch; pad see ewe chicken(extra egg and extra noodles), panang beef curry, mussaman beef curry(both curries are creamy and delicious) and my second favorite after the pad see ewe, basil eggplant with ground pork. The basil chicken is also delicious along with the bagoong rice and the fried soft shell crab and wow pretty much most if not all the items on their menu are delicious!

Great Thai food. My family has been coming here for years and finally my daughter asked if I wrote a review for this place yet and to my surprise I never wrote one. I don’t think we’ve ever been here and had to wait for a table. Most of the people get carry out. The décor is very cheap but they have great tasting Thai food. We usually order chicken satay, crab fried rice, pad Thai, pad see eew, lad nard, fried tofu, etc. Everything is very tasty, they give you good portions and it’s inexpensive. Come here or order takeout for the food. You won’t be sorry!

Stopped in for the lunch buffet — there were about 6 dishes + egg rolls but all done really well and at a great price. Pad See Ewe, basil chicken and fried rice were among my favorites. I’ve also been there for dinner and the menu is pretty extensive too. Can’t wait to go back again. Great food and great service.

The Order: Basil Chicken Nom Tok(Steak Salad) Larb Gai(Chicken Salad) Angel Wings(Stuff Chicken Appetizer) Moo Bing(Pork Skewer Appetizer) The Review: The most Authentic Thai(whole in the wall) BYOB restaurant in Chicago PERIOD. The restaurant is run by a Thai husband/wife couple cooking in the back. You know that its good, when you start seeing actual Thai people(me being one of them) eating at the restaurant. The dishes are prepared for Thai people. Meaning, it doesn’t have runny, sweet sauces like other Thai Americanized restaurants serve. And it’s actually hot, like damn 911 Fiery Inferno hot. Unlike other Thai restaurants, they don’t predominately flood the plate with Veggies and skimp out on the meat. Like the other reviews on Unilocal, your best bet is the Basil Chicken. Don’t order the egg rolls, not that good. The Angel Chicken wings are to die for. The Moo Bing(Pork Skewers) are definitely a hit, marinated well beforehand and very juicy. Yum Nua /Nom Tok(Steak Salad) is also very good, cooked with a slight pinkness and no fat. Not a fan of their soups, so stick with their main entrees, salads and appetizers. It’s a no frills restaurant, most people are regulars, some do BYOB, some are smart and pre-order over the phone. My only recommendation is that they play some Thai music… because it’s dead quiet like a library.

After reading all the mixed reviews about the lunch buffet, I still decided to try it today. Even though it was a very small buffet, every selection was Amazing. From the Tom Yum soup and crispy tasty spring rolls to the Basil Chicken, Pad Thai, Vegetable Stir Fry, and Pad See Ewe. Everything was so fresh and tasty, I don’t know why some reviewers are so down on this place. In my opinion this has some of the best Thai food around. I’m definitely coming back for the lunch buffet and recommending this restaurant to friends and family

I used to go there regularly about 15 years ago when I worked nearby. When I was recently going to be in the area, I looked it up and took some friends along. I was pleased to see it hadn’t changed a bit, and my friends said they’d definitely be back. I can’t comment on their regular menu; all I’ve ever gotten is the lunch buffet. The buffet(only at lunchtime M-F) only has about 8 items on it, but they’re all excellent! I hope I can get back that way again. This is a very good Thai restaurant.

Gem in the north suburb! Food is truly authentic and service was great. All customers that walked into the restaurant during our dining were Thai which tells a lot about how authentic the food is. Menu is quite comprehensive. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes!

full disclosure first: i am a buffet guy. its the best way to try a whole bunch of different items for a reasonable price, if one can avoid the natural tendency to stuff oneself to discomfort, i see no reason not to choose a buffet when it is available. Siam house would be an exception to that rule. so lets get the negative out first. its a pathetic looking buffet with few choices and the few available ones do not make one excited to partake. so, on to the menu where i ordered my usually thai standby, pad thai. the last time i had this dish at a now forgotten place, it was overly sweet and slimy. maybe too much oil. i thought maybe i just had lost my taste for thai food. that is not the case. siam house puts a out beautiful, fresh plate of food. it was delicious, particularly after adding just a dash of sriacha sauce. there was plenty of noodles and tofu to satisfy my hunger. i had heard that their homemade coconut ice cream was good and it certainly was with shredded coconut and just the right amount of sweetness. the service and ambiance were also more than adequate. i will continue to search for the perfect thai buffet in the chicagoland area but when i need to satisfy my pad thai urges, siam house is my go to place.

Tom Kia was ok I have had better. The Larb beef was very fatty. Service was sloooooow, The restaurant in general is very runned down and dirty. The buffet has very limited selections and often times ran out of food. No lunch specials, won’t be returning.

Do not understand all the hypes here. There are many other Thai restaurants that serve better food in Chicagoland area. The server is very unfriendly and rude. She seemed like she hates her job and i felt very uncomfortable. Most of all, my food had a hair! So disgusting! At least they did not charge my food. However, they never apologized and said sorry. When I showed the server a hair in my food, she just said«I don’t know» and took the dish away. The table was not also clean, and I had to wipe it myself. I will never go back!!!

Good food. Terrible service and horrendous take out service. Quoted 40 minutes wait for take out and it ended up being 90 minutes! Sure every place has an off night but the good ones apologize profusely and offer something for the inconvenience. Arrived 50 minutes after ordering then sat there for 40 minutes waiting and no one offered just a glass of water much less a discount on the order or a coupon for future use. Shame, shame. Pass. on this place and go to Arun’s new place on N. Pulaski, Taste of Thai Town.

Been coming here for years, mostly for the lunch buffet. Buffet is limited, yet what is offered is very good. The same setup for the ten or so years I’ve been coming, 8 hot surface areas and a soup they offer for the lunch buffet for $ 8.95. They refill the buffet until 2/230pm. They can benefit from having a self-serve water dispenser or providing a water pitcher for the table as the sole server may/may not busy to come refill your water. On the other end, i’ve ordered take out a few times. The portions are good, the food is above average, and the price is about right.

I am Thai and I love the food here. Is this sufficient for a review? Just kidding! I guess as I am the reigning Duchess of Siam’s House, it’s time for me to write a review. I have been here a gazillion times and I still come back. I think that says something about the food here. I feel really sorry for all the people who had bad experiences here, because I don’t want this place to get a bad rep! But I know first impressions are important. They do have a few dishes that aren’t amazing(crying tiger– don’t order that here!), but most of it is made how it’s supposed to taste. I won’t say everything is great, and perhaps some people are used to it a certain way from their usual Thai spot, but the food here is definitely authentic. The décor sucks. They really need to redecorate, but as with most Thai places, they won’t do until there is a new owner. That’s really just how it goes in the Thai community. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The service: there are a few different servers here. Depends on what day you go, will determine the quality of service you get. I avoid going on certain days depending on who I know will be there. Maybe because I’m Thai, they are always pleasant with me but I still see the differences in service. Back to the food: my favorites here are the seafood sukiyaki, beef boat noodles, basil chicken, crab fried rice and fried catfish salad. I especially come here for the ice cream. This is one of the few places that serve coconut ice cream the way they do in Thailand! I am not making any excuses for anything they lack. I just have my favorites dishes here and I really enjoy the food. And my reviews always focus on the food.

The angel wing appetizer is nice & crispy on the exterior with tender & delicious ground meat, corn, noodles & other chopped veggies inside. Alongside a sweet & sour chili dipping sauce. Yummy… I love love how my basil pork order was actually spicy, I will ask for even spicier when I go back. Another dish I’ve tried is the chicken pad thai. Not only was the chicken juicy, but the flavor of the noodles & the crispness of the veggies was cooked really well. Great food with very decent prices.

By far one of the best Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. In fact I would say it’s among the top three thai restaurants in Chicago when it comes to food. Don’t expect anything beyond good food and you won’t be disappointed. It’s a small hole in the wall… but the flavors are amazing. The red curry has a lovely basil aroma… the yellow curry was rich and tasted distinctly different from the red curry. I have gone back several times for their red curry.

The difference between a good reviewer and not so good one is the judging part. I often saw on Facebook, friends who had a bad experience would write in their status. oh so and so is so gonna get Unilocaled. Unilocal has become a verb and in use gravitating towards being a mouth piece of a negative experience. It is not always the case and I want to get on my soap box and stand up for some of the Elites that truly try. There are a lot of fair and astute reviewers who actually reviewing and not just judging. Judging without reviewing is unfair. Reviewing without getting to know the details is impossible. Long ass introduction but Siam House is the type of place where people may judge from strictly surface factors. Sadly I read a lot of reviews(not just on Unilocal though) recently that were really just surface based and some of the verdicts were staggering. Granted some truly deserve the one or two stars by all means. I know I had a few of those myself. There’s a thread I read on Unilocal on some of the most hilarious one star ROTDs that were really deserving. I get it some deserved the bashing. Yet, there are people and feelings behind all of it. However, look at Siam House’s reviews… A lot of five stars! This restaurant defies the curse because it is that damn good. For a dingy strip mall restaurants, with pink table cloth, and a lot of misspellings on the special board, this place truly rocks. I have asked people to come here and some refused as they wanted to go somewhere nicer. Yet, I haven’t found a Thai restaurant this good anywhere in the US where I have traveled. Not one even comes close. I’m just sad on those two stars reviews this place is getting as well. Everything I have ever tasted there was stellar. The catfish salad was to die for. The stuffed angel wings was delicious. The pad thai. Hands down best ever. The crab fried rice, the chicken kha mu, the pork belly cooked in soy sauce, and my beloved pad gra pow or spicy basil chicken… mhmhmh good. If you asked for spicy, watch out. You better have some Kaeopactate handy. The coconut sorbet was also just a great dessert especially if it’s served with the warm rice pudding. Oh it was just so so good you feel like you’re in Bangkok having fun after watching the most kick ass drag queen show and pissed that the lady with an Adam’s apple looked better than you. Yep, it is in Niles but not far from O’Hare. Take a short drive and give this place a try. It is truly underrated and though those who had been there and really looked beyond the surface understand that this is diamond in the rough, I really want more people to know. Don’t judge. Experience it and share your stories. Don’t judge from their sorry excuse of a lunch buffet. Don’t judge on their weak tea and they only had one server for the whole place. Thai food this good is hard to find. I happen to travel 500 miles to eat here. If you judge without getting to know the real deal, you will simply miss out on a chance for a remarkable chow down.

The best Thai restaurant in the area! I have been here a couple times and have enjoyed my food each time. The food is very delicious and the staff is very friendly. I used to think thai food was the same everywhere but I have had some BAD thai food. This place doesn’t skimp on portions and the dishes are not drowning in grease. There are lots of thai restaurants in the area but I come here(even though I pass up about 3 other thai places) to get my thai food cravings. Highly recommended!
