I was surprised how good the food was here, definitely a cut above typical bar food and the portions are generous. You have to like your fellow man, woman & child, though, to come here since it is almost always crowded. Still, a cool place to eat out with your favorite sports fanatic or your kid’s softball team.

Nice casual place, food good, service friendly. Outside patio is very nice, great for kicking back having a few watch a game or enjoy being outside, watching the golfers. Always enjoy going there.

I’m really disappointed with the food at this place. I ordered vegetables as a side, and they were horrible. Frozen, soggy, just gross. Last time I came here we ordered the Cobb salad and they forgot the cheese. Simple mistake. My friend ordered it again tonight and they forgot the cheese again! I see a scam going on here. Maybe they hope people won’t notice. I will not be coming back to eat. This is more of a drinking place.

Lastnight, a Saturday night, I had a taste for their buffalo shrimp, so my daughter and I stopped in. We were seated right away, yet they were busy as usual, and getting served took a long time. After our drinks, we ordered a cup of soup to start, and it took 30 minutes to get it.(This was their delicious cream of chicken, and it was very good.) We wanted another, but decided against it. Instead, we ordered the buffalo shrimp for me, and a tuna melt with tater tots for her. Our food took an hour and 15 minutes! This has never happened in all the time we’ve been coming here. Our server, Danielle, was very sweet… and very apologetic. Apparently with the patio open and a couple of large parties, the kitchen was slammed. We also ordered a sandwich for my husband to go, while we waited for our food, in the hopes that it would be ready by the time we ate. It wasn’t, but Danielle adjusted our check and also threw in a free dessert. All in all we were there 2 ½ hours. Had it been any other place, I would have raised hell! But fortunately we weren’t in a hurry. The food was good, our server was very sorry about it, and we still really like this place, so we were understanding.

Maybe it’s just because I was 3-sheets-to-the-wind, but the Mac n’ Cheese bites are something of lore and fantasy in the world of drunk food. Not to mention, a great beer and liquor selection. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve never been disappointed here(+50) visits. The staff is always smiling, the food is always good(seriously whatever you order) and the«sports bar» atmosphere is probably the best I’ve encountered. Great for two or for twenty ppl. Don’t miss it !

I had the«all you can eat fish fry.» The fish was nasty. Just nasty. Overly breaded, disgustingly thin piece of fried fish smelling glob. A thin, packaged frozen piece of fish garbage. The fries, thin cut, were cold. Sound good so far? Out of the gun iced tea. Are we sick yet? I am always amazed at restaurants that use that boxed, foul tasting iced tea because they’re too lazy to make fresh brewed. Are they afraid someone might say, «ick, don’t give me the fresh brewed, I’m dying for a glass of that out of the gun nasty tasting piss.» Then to finish me off, asked for some coleslaw and was told there would be an upcharge! Honestly, all you can eat fish but an upcharge for a side of coleslaw? Have it your way, I ordered more fish that I really didn’t want just to offset the stupid upcharge. My wife had the greek salad and it was terrific. The waitress(Melinda) was friendly, attentive, professional and a smiling charmer. While it would have been appreciated had she packaged the left over salad instead of turning my wife into a «full service» assistant, she received a large tip. Ordinary seems to have won over here. I won’t go back, nothing worth a return trip.

Excellent fish fry friday. All you can eat cod and many other fish options. A healthy serving of slaw if like that option. If you get the tater tots you get a side of cheese with it. If you get the fries, no cheese. I will be back to try the sandwiches. Brisket looked tempting but we were there on a Friday during lent. For a park district golf course restaurant it is one of the better ones around the local north suburbs. Spacious, if you have to wait it won’t be long, one party waiting as we left at 6:30. The fish is not overly breaded and crispy.

We’ve been here more than a handful of times, and it’s a solid 4 star restaurant for bar food, friendly service, & sports games. We try to avoid the mega game nights when they get packed. Bonus is that they’re oftentimes on Groupon and outdoor seating when weather permits. We always get the nachos(comes with chili, lettuce, olives, shredded AND liquid cheeses, tomatoes, and a side of salsa), and I almost always get the turkey burger with extra chipotle mayo on the side! I always see people ordering pizza, so that might be worth a try next time. They also have drink specials and a weekend breakfast buffet that’s also on our list of things to come back for.

I admit it. I come here for the $ 3 martinis on Thursdays during the winter. This is a sports bar with good food. I am not a big sports bar person, but even though they have lots of TVs on, the sound is not blaring. The pizzas are excellent, and I really like their sandwiches. They serve a turkey burger that is about as good as it gets, and their regular burgers are moist and flavorful. You can get a side of tater tots, which if you are like me, will take you back to high school days. In the summer, they open an outdoor patio, and that draws us for dinner. The service is very good, and the owner is on site, which is also the sign of a well-run restaurant. They seem to have hit on a vibe that draws in locals. The place is almost always busy, but it is large enough that we have never had to wait for a table. They have various food /bev specials every day.

Basic bar food. Clickish. dive bar with a generic golf course next to it. Over 50 crowd. Don’t be fooled by Happy Hour. You GET what you pay for. Staff is not friendly. Owner is only worried about his regulars at the bar. Don’t go here. So many better places near by. Edison Park area has plenty of places. No need to go to this dive

We’ve been to to the Howard Street Inn and got great food. Tonight we went in and I requested a medium hamburger and got a more than well done burger. I didn’t mind so just mentioned casually to the waitress. The owner came and covered the price of our meal and brought us a dessert. Simply fantastic service. Onion rings were really good as was the fish and chips but it’s the value they placed on service that will keep us coming back.

Howard Street is the real deal! Great atmosphere especially if you’re a sports fan. This is our third time coming here and every time the food has been very good. I had the chicken wings tonight which were prepared a little different for me. I asked if I could get them a little Spicer for me and the chef said yes. He sent them out with a thicker sauce and pepper flakes! HOT! HOT!HOT!!! KATIE was very nice and accommodating. My only complaint was the French onion soup; it was very salty tonight. We sent that back no issues. We had buffalo shrimp for an appetizer they were great, so good we got two orders! My wife had the steak sandwich and my daughter had a Philly cheese steak with a bowl cream of chicken and rice. Awesome!!! Overall this is a very good establishment. The food is great and the service is always impeccable. Keep up the good work HSI…

The food is not very good, but I guess that’s what you have to expect from bar restaurants. I have had the fish tacos from here, which are okay, kind of very bland. Probably frozen fish. Buffalo chicken salad, I would not recommend, literally just lettuce and some pieces of probably frozen fried buffalo chicken. Also had the philly and another dish I forgot. Everything I had there was not anything I would come back for. Luckily had a coupon, but still not worth it. The waitresses here are very annoying. Made me feel very uncomfortable while ordering. Bending over onto the table hovering over me suggesting items and pointing at my menu for things to order and waiting for me to choose something. I had to literally tell her that I wanted time alone with my boyfriend to figure out what we wanted for ourselves. I guess this is the kind of environment for that sort of behavior, but if a couple is trying to just get a quick dinner I think the waitresses should know when they should and should not present that sort of behavior.

The Howard Inn holds the title for the best deal around this part of town. While options are limited nearby, their menu has something for just about everyone. Here’s what I found: Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. An energetic crew of servers and staff on a very busy Thursday night. Many loyal patrons who seem to frequent the place. A large indoor and outdoor bar, with many games on. If «Thirsty Thursdays» are your thing, you’ll find excellent deals on Martinis here, as I did. Also, I couldn’t pass up the chicken wings deal, and had some very large wings, quite tasty. The fish tacos arrived with tater tots, and though I was hoping for chips and guac, they were also good. However, the reason I’d come back: The brisket tacos. Yep, they’re worth the trip. You won’t find these anywhere else. Stay thirsty, maybe I’ll see you on Thursday!

Ssshhh… I really believe this is Niles’ best kept secret. Who’d expect a homey local bar near the corner of Howard and Caldwell? Not I! Other things you should keep a secret(so there’s more for yourself… and me!): — the brisket tacos! Juicy and flavorful and not chewy at all! — HSI offers brunch on the weekends! — burnt ends are offered once in a blue moon. Still haven’t gotten our hands on these. — the fun atmosphere. You can never have too much fun atmosphere! I’m a fan of the flags and sports paraphernalia hanging in every which direction. — it’s home of one of the juiciest burgers I’ve consumed relatively recently. From my experience, the service is really solid and attentive here. (Check-in bonus on Unilocal app: free dessert!)

I’m sorry but the other week end my wife and my self Went there to enjoy some drinks and food. The drinks,(bloody Mary’s and vodka and tonic so were pretty good. The food(Philly cheese) fries and coleslaw were terrible. The Philly meat had the taste of being previously frozen. The fries were week skinny and tasteless. The sandwich was served on a soft mushy bun. It should have been served on french bread. The coleslaw was soupy. My wife had the nachos. Tthat was good. She enjoyed. I’d go there for the drinks. The food leaves a lot to be Desired. Wait staff a 10.

Turning into the parking lot I was a bit confused. Was this the place my buddies wanted to watch a bulls playoff game? This place looks like a golf course, and elementary school, and suburban recreational center. As soon as you walk in though first thing you notice are all those sports banners, hanging from the high ceiling. I really like the look of the inside, its like a very sports fanatic bedroom. They have may tvs, and the menu is pretty large. The food is not bad. At the time of the day the crowd was mostly older adults or families. Unfortunately the service was mediocore. Our server deff favored families and larger tables, which didn’t bother us too much. But when we asked the server to split the check she gave us a dirty look and swore under her breath, but loud enough to hear. The food is worth coming again, maybe Ill come later on in the night next time.

It’s a Friday March madness night so it was packed! We were seated after 10 mins, which was not a long wait since we said yes to the table right beside the fire exit door :) I I had the fish(cod) and tater tots and my kids ordered the Western burger and Blazen burger. Their food is good, all cooked to order although the wait is quite long. All servers were friendly and nice. We will definitely go back to try other sandwiches and burgers maybe not on a Friday night though:)

A total Unilocal Nearby mobile recommendation — was running to Menards but my belly was grumbling, what’s nearby? Unilocal mobile to the rescue! GREAT place to watch the game, round house style so not a bad seat in the house. Pleasant and friendly staff, crowd was chill, plenty of TV’s everywhere to watch. LOTS of team bling surrounds you and makes the atmosphere festive. Plenty of options on the menu to choose from, I only tried the nachos with pork. Took advantage of the beer special, GIANT mug of Heineken. I LOVE it when places make it easy, this place does. The daily specials are hung above the bar, a sign for each day, easy to read. Thank you! Tip — Top parking lot tends to fill up, but lower is an option as well. This place buffers the golf course which is out of season at the moment, but the Inn is always in season. Tip — they were unpacking their xmas decorations while we were there and it looked like they had a TON of stuff, looking forward to going back to see how it turns out — We’ll be back.
