Newport Steak & Seafood

Prime Rib was the special tonight. They always give you way more than you can eat. We haven’t had a bad dinner or breakfast here. The Food & Service is excellent.

Good place to grab some grub if your close by and added bonus this place closes later then other places. Had the steak and it was good, cook to my perfection which is rare if I don’t cook it myself.

Took forever! Ordered halibut fish & chips. Fish had NO flavor and fries had no salt or seasoning of any kind. Husband ordered prawns and said they were pretty good. Son ordered a hamburger and got a cheese burger– so had to wait for them to remake even longer.

Never again. No ambiance, mediocre food, and our waitress made several odd and uncomfortable comments to our table.
Instead of splitting the bill as we had asked, our waitress «accidentally» charged the entire bill to one card, claimed she had fun a refund for the amount that she overcharged, and then ran the second card for the other half. No money was refunded back on the first card.
Overall a bad experience and a very sketchy establishment — stay far away from this place.

Friendly staff. Steak and eggs were perfect!

Friendly and nice. Great food. Perfect chill spot. Good bloody Mary’s. Great corned beef hash special. Broasted chicken was good too. We sat in the bar side and would def visit again.

Service was good, appetizers and bread were decent, but the steak was terrible. Ordered medium well, came out tepid inside and burnt outside, how he managed that is a mystery.

Lets see. If you are at the coast where seafood is. What kind of dumb bunny eats cow or rates a restaurant on how well they mix eel juice. You can read some of the ratings below and see for yourself. I did. It makes me laugh.
My frail and I ate in this hash house … once. The food was so buried in batter I needed a excavator to find what was in it. The fish tasted like. like … like. Wait, it’d didn’t taste like anything. Maybe a smidge like warm mystery meat in water.
If you have the bees and just want to piss it away it doesn’t matter where you eat. You can just go on down the road and do it again with out a loss. If you are a work’in stiff and count jack month to month this joint will take the lions share and the return on it isn’t good.
The service was excellent. The dame wait’in on us was the cat’s pajamas.
But when you stop at Safeway on the drive back to the crib to get something to eat after dinner you paid for. Well. what’s wrong with this picture.

We arrived to Newport late and were starving. We stop at this restaurant and took a risk.
Needless to say, we lost. In short, no ambiance, slow service and horrible food.
We entered vestibule area and there was a door to the left and a door to the right. We chose right and entered into a bar area with slot machines and also eating tables. The lady behind the bar said «sit anywhere you like».
We opted to go back to the vestibule and chose the door on the left. Same restaurant but I guessed that this was the family friendly version. We were seated and given the menu. It took a while for them to come back and take our order. Meanwhile, there was a table with a child that kept in screeching and crushing crackers on the floor.
I ordered the soup of the day which was beef stroganoff and also had the bay shrimp scampi. Anthony had the prime rib special that came with veggies, soup (he chose the clam chowder) and mash potatoes with beef gravy.
So, where shall I begin… both soups were very salty and I swear just came out of a Progresso can. The shrimp scampi was the tiny shrimp and didn’t taste fresh at all. The prime rib was edible at best and overlooked, the veggies tasted greasy and definitely over sautéed, and the mash potatoes were just not good.
Maybe we had a bad night but I doubt it. I hope this place gets better soon.

The food was very good, but the service was excellent. We waited a bit longer for our meal than expected and the dinner was comped for us! That kind of customer service is hard to find these days. They treat you well, and serve a tasty dinner! We highly recommend it.

The outside of the resturant seems ‘iffy’ at best, but we decided to give it a chance after reading the Unilocal reviews. It wasn’t bad, the food was decent and the server Andre was awesome! The reason I can’t give more stars is this place is incredibly over priced for what it is. I mean, we are talking $ 25 a plate type expensive… Which I would gladly pay if the atmosphere warranted it… But it doesn’t. It had a diner feel. Nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is… I’d recommend coming here if you’ve never tried it but the food was just ok, and too expensive to come back so we probably won’t stop in again.

For the first time, Unilocal has failed us. We went here based on the high ratings of others. Very disappointed. Had to wait for someone to take our drink order. Someone else took the food order. The food was overpriced for what it was — I got the grilled halibut and my husband got the New York strip. His was ordered medium and came out medium well. That was the last time we saw the server. The place got busy and there was not enough help. We got no refills on the drinks. Had to ask for the check from another server. Very disappointing because we thought it would be better based on the glowing reviews on Unilocal

We tried this place for the first time last weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. The reviews were good so we went their specifically to try it out. It turned out they had Prime Rib as their special and my son and I jumped for that. Other son had the chowder and Wife had the hot turkey plate. Food was fantastic. Prime Rib was some of the best I’ve had, fresh made mashed potatoes and everything was delicious. Service was friendly, attentive and fast. Definitely going back to try some of their other preparations.

Much better than expected just looking at the restaurant. Really happy we read the reviews and gave it a try. The staff was very friendly and the food was very good! Not a fancy steak & seafood restaurant but very cozy, which is kinda what you want on a little family beach trip! We’ll go back next time we are in Newport!

Both my husband and I ordered the Captain’s plate, mine was sautéed and hubby’s was deep fried. They both were delicious and the sides were too. We will go back.

Very good food and portions. Very welcoming stuff. The steak is one of the best I have ever had. Surely we will visit again.

I will admit right off the bat, this place gets 4 stars solely for their Bloody Marys.
Sure, the food is good, too. At least breakfast, which is all we’ve ever had here. Because, hello: those Bloody Marys. Thankfully, they’re cheap, because the food is a bit on the pricey side, as other reviewers have pointed out. The name makes this place sound high-​end, but really, it’s a bar and grill that’s a bit dated inside and out.

The Bacon & Cheese omelette has a nice ratio of hickory smoked bacon to cheese, and is the perfect size — not too big, not too small. The accompanying hash browns are decent. I liked the Spanish omelette better; it’s a nice combination of peppers, onions, green chilies and cheese topped with a homemade salsa that is pretty good. My wife liked her Denver omelette — it’s nothing special, but delivers exactly what you’d expect. And that’s a good thing.
Service is good, but the bar side of this restaurant can fill up quickly and you might have to wait a little while to order. I suppose we could sit on the restaurant side, but…

Great dinners. A little overpriced but good, waitress was way cool!
The prime rib was done to perfection. My wife’s crab fettucini was really good too. One of my guests ordered the fish and chip basket. It was good as well. He was asked if he would like the dinner instead. Sure. The difference was a cup of chowder and a cup of mixed vegetables. I didn’t really see how it was justified to pay $ 8.00 more for those 2 items. Should of ordered them separate. Over all a enjoyable dinner and if go back.

Nice restaurant with a friendly staff. I had the jack Daniels steak. It was good and a good value.
Tables were clean and in good order.
