Sometimes I think businesses got too comfortable. They stop trying. Quality and service start to lag. Unfortunately, I think Mitchell’s has become a victim of this mentality. Being at the Levee means a steady stream of business so perhaps they have stopped trying so hard. Anyway… Food was average. Service was ok. Place was dirty and needed upkeep. Bummer. C’mon man, you’re better than that.

Probably one of the best big fish sandwiches I’ve had. Couldn’t eat it all. Truly was big. Had a seat right away everyone was friendly. 2 dined for $ 23. Not bad for leaving with yummy leftovers.

So I like Mitchell’s very much, it is another chain restaurant that I find quite good and have enjoyed the few times that I’ve visited. Granted, I don’t think it’s as good as Bonefish, but the ambiance is very nice, the food is good and I like the view of Cincy from the Levee. I took my kiddo here for lunch when we had a recent seafood craving. I haven’t been to Mitchell’s in years so I was pretty excited to chow down here with her. As much as I wanted to indulge in what I remember to be a deliciously gooey, hot crab dip appetizer, those dratty old New Year’s resolutions kicked in and I decided to tuck in instead in the Seafood Cobb Salad. Seriously, if you read the description of the salad, it is MOUTHWATERING(shrimp, lobster, crab, avocado, bacon, egg, bleu cheese, NUMMY). It’s a $ 19 dollar salad, but the amount of seafood is generous and you don’t feel ripped off at all when it comes to taste, presentation or portion-size. The kiddo opted for the fried calamari appetizer for her lunch, and it was okay. She dug in and ate every scrap, but we both agreed it was super salty and over-breaded. I explained to her that calamari is so delicately flavored and meant to be tender, that it doesn’t need such heavy breading or sugary«Asian» dipping sauce. Plus, it was deep fried to within a centimeter of rubber cement texture. Okay, so I LOVED my salad, I savored and ate it down to a few stray leaves. And – then for the rest of the day I felt sickly and unhappy with unmistakable symptoms of food poisoning. So something definitely went amiss here. Perhaps the seafood and dairy aren’t the best combination(but then I think of shrimp alfredo and lobstah rolls and realize that’s a load of B.S.). Yes, the food at Mitchell’s is good, the prices aren’t horrible, the view is pretty and so is the interior. This incident isn’t enough to detract me from returning to a Mitchell’s. I think it was an isolated event, but it does dim its allure a little bit in my memory bank.

What a waste of time and money. We took our children here after visiting the aquarium at 2 pm, and waited almost 10 minutes to be seated in a nearly empty restaurant. We waited another 15 minutes to even speak to our server, who didn’t offer bread, refills, and who we had to literally chase down for our bill. We ended up paying at the bar. Our sever was downright rude to us for most of the night. We had two young children who waited patiently for approximately 90 minutes for their food, and she would run past our table, while visiting others. After my husband took the bill to the bar, I started to put my kids’ jackets on them, and the sever came over and asked me «are you going to pay?» Are you kidding me? I told her my husband was paying at the bar, and she responded with, «he can’t do that! I’ll go get him,» and huffed off. Well, a manager happened to be working the bar, who in turn got the GM. She was very nice and comped a portion of the bill, but the rude service was enough for us to not want to return. And the food was subpar(I had the crab stuffed shrimp). Would definitely not recommend if you have children with you and value your sanity. If you have a good 2 – 3 hours to kill, and don’t mind the bad service, and ok food, then go for it.

Love the décor! Hostess was intuitive and polite setting the stage for a great time. Happy hour in the bar with bartender Ashley was great. We ordered apps and then our meals, then added another app and she made it so all the apps came at once. Points scored already! Happy Hour Menu: Fried Zucchini($ 4) — awesome! Huge serving. Four of ate on it happily. They have battered and friend red peppers too. OMG! Delicious! Crispy Calamari($ 6) — seasoning and texture was great, fried green beans and red peppers were and awesome touch with the chili soy dipping sauce. Shrimp Potstickers($ 4) for 4 and also delicious. Happy hour drinks all delicious — Cosmo, mojito, and prosecco. Each under $ 5. Dinner Menu: Cedar Plank Salmon($ 24) — oh my this was soooooo good! The flavor profile combination was wonderful. Very large serving. Fish and chips($ 18) — huge serving and very very very good. Fishermans platter($ 24) — another very large serving and delicious for every bite.

My experience eating here was very pleasant. We sat on the patio overlooking the river, it was a gorgeous view. Our waiter was fabulous! He was very happy and friendly and knew the menu very well. He was very quick to refill our waters and gave us the perfect amount of attention. The food was very delicious! I got salmon and it was perfectly cooked and the presentation was great. I would definitely go back!

I was pleasantly surprised when seafood was suggested for dinner-something I like but don’t opt for nearly often enough. The food and the atmosphere were good(though my veg and potatoes were a little too butter soaked, but I’m probably a bit of a puritan in this arena), but I was a bit disappointed by our service. We each had a glass of wine and ordered an app and main course. Never were we offered a second glass of wine, even while our waitress was refilling our water glasses and the bottom of my wine glass was visible. As we finished our meal, our waitress came over to tell us about a loyalty program, but never mentioned dessert or the check. Given their atmosphere and the week night, encouraging us to have another drink and/or dessert seemed natural(though it wasn’t our intention) Finally, we looked at the clock and decided to make it to the Funny Bone for their next show and put a credit card on the table and told her we needed to get going when she happened to walk past. Overall, it was an a-ok experience, but that’s not what I expect walking into a place like this where their website states that their goal is to provide a most memorable dining experience. It looks like happy hour is where it’s at here, and I’d come back and give that a shot, my expectations for service and experience are quite different in that arena. But, for the price point, even with limited sea food options in the city, I would probably look elsewhere.

Our family dined in Thanksgiving. The staff was so happy and friendly, like we were dining in their home. The food was wonderful, as usual. We love Mitchell’s! It is a consistent great experience.

My sister and I ate lunch here on a Monday after noon. Our server was Eliajah and he was fantastic. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. It came with a veggie medley and garlic mashed potatoes. The veggies were nice and crunchy and the mashed potatoes were amazing. My sister ordered the grilled salmon with scallops and shrimp. It came on a bed of white rice and spinach. It was very tastey and went great together. We split the lobster Mac and cheese, so good. Eliajah was very attentive, interactive, and super friendly. We would definitely go back.

Who in the hell painted the place blue? It looks terrible and I’m not spending $ 20-$ 30 an entrée to dine in a nursery. The service was unrefined and the atmosphere sorely lacking. Sad because it used to be a favorite.

NOPE. It looks like a good place. The price of the food might lead you to believe that they serve quality food, in an upscale, relaxing atmosphere. But, honestly, it is an overpriced, exploitative restaurant. They sat us near the bar for happy hour, and we were completely ignored by our bartender. Which is difficult to fathom because she didn’t really have any customers or anything to do. We ordered two drinks, a Basil Smash and my mom got a virgin something since she was driving. 15 minutes later they took our appetizer orders. Mom got a lobster bisque which was tepid and basically had no flavor other than cream. I got a raw oyster a la carte. It was alright. 20 minutes later they managed to come around a take our dinner order. Now, why I am so frustrated by this was that there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The servers were bumming around. Everything was super slow, and when our food finally arrived at our table it wasn’t hot anymore. It was lukewarm. My seared plank yellowfin tuna was good. However my mother’s lobster stuffed cod was dry, tasteless, and cold. Even her lemon butter sauce was congealed. Never once did our server apologize. And when she came to deliver the check she dropped it on the table and was walking away as she distantly told us thanks for coming. We were very pleasant, I mean, we were celebrating a wonderful trip and a great day. We were in fantastic moods. So i don’t understand her attitude. Whatever the case, we both felt sick afterwards and it was THE most disappointing meal of the trip. And for the price we paid unacceptable.

We sat at the bar and ordered several items from their happy hour menu which was priced reasonably. The bartender Ashley was excellent and attentive. The food, however, was not impressive. Bloody Mary Oysters: Interesting & delicious but not cleaned properly, there was a layer of mud & debris that was unappetizing Calamari: The best thing we ordered hands down. The panko was light & crispy and the Asian inspired sauce paired well. Poke Fish Tacos: Did you freeze & thaw this fish… Served in large chunks that were rubbery. Did not come with slaw that resembled kimichi as advertised but more like KFC coleslaw. Had to drain the liquid off to eat them. Do not order these! The concept of this dish is great, but the execution was horrible. Tilapia Fish Tacos: We had two orders of these. One came chunked and one came with whole fillets for some reason. They were okay. Definitely the better of the two tacos. Zucchini Fries: Pathetic & a sad preparation for a vegetable. The breading was falling off because they weren’t dredged properly. They did taste good. We would NOT eat here again. Fiancé’s comment: The women’s bathroom smelled like sewage, and I felt like the smell lingered on me after leaving. It was such a shame because we really wanted to like this place because of the beautiful location.

I didn’t know that this place is a chain, but now looking back, it did feel like one. Main fish with a couple of sides. However, it is still a great chain restaurant. I have been here a few times with my parents. They loved it every single time. I have tried the catch of the day and had it prepared shanghai style. The sea bass was very fresh, but the greens on top was a little over cooked. It was a tad too sweet but the soy cause balanced it out, kinda. Their lobster tail was a deal I think, $ 19.99. It was decent. Cant complain I love their atmosphere and service. Sitting at the outdoor patio is for sure a plus. It is right next to the river but you have to go their very early or late to get a table. Great place to go for a romantic date night. Not cheap.

Had reservations to Mitchell’s on the Levee. Was seated almost immediately upon entering. Waitress was fantastic even making solid wine recommendations for us. Had a few glasses of Merlot it was very nice. Ordered crispy calamari as appetizer. It was just ok. Nothing special. Expected better I guess. Main dish was lobster tails with asparagus and potatoes. It was wonderful. Great tasting delicate just the right sweetness. Main dish could not have been better. Views of the river were nice atmosphere was nice as well. Desserts looked wonderful but didn’t partake.

I had a seafood dish here that was amazing! I had the scallops that were cooked to perfection. They took a little too long getting us the prosecco we ordered and I cancelled it, in exchange to make up For it they gave us two glasses on the house. I truly enjoyed the food and the service was amazing. If I ever have the chance I will Come back here. There is a beautiful view of downtown Cincinnati from the restaurant that I am going to post a picture of. I went last weekend during the Newport italian festival and really enjoyed the food, view, and the festivities that were happening right below the restaurant. At the end of the night the did fireworks right off the bridge next to the restaurant. Really amazing night!

They were extremely allergy-accomodating. The chef came out and chatted with me to verify my allergy, and said whatever I wanted he would make, unseasoned. I was a little disappointed because when I made a reservation I asked for an outside table, but when I got in that had not been marked so we had to eat inside or wait an hour. We ate inside, it was a little noisy, though. They were very busy, so service was lagging a bit. We didnt get our table bread until our meals were out. It was ok though, when someone did come by our waitress/the bread deliverer/the chef were all very very nice. I ordered the shang hai shrimp, salmon, and scallops. It was so great being able to try a few different things, a lot of times I am very limited, or I eat something that I shouldnt and deal with the consequences. Everything was very well cooked and tasty. My boyfriend ordered the market trio. He loved it. Again, the variety was really nice. We ordered dessert here also. He ordered a mini sharkfin pie, and I ordered the vanilla bean crème brûlée. He loved the sharkfin pie– I did not. It was not bad, but I dont like that sort of dessert. If it sounds good to you, you would probably like it. The crème brûlée was ok– It did have a very heavy vanilla flavor, which I loved, but the consistency was puddling-y and I like a thick caramel shell on the top and theirs was thin. I think if I went again I would get key lime pie, another table ordered it and it looked amazing

This is a good stop when I am in the mood for fish. The stuffed Cod is always delish, scallops are usually cooked perfectly and they generally have a Prix fix deal that is pretty economical for a couple. Yum!

Confusing start to dinner with my wife; we had different menus. I had a lunch menu and she had a dinner menu. This in inexecusable for a restaurant of this caliber and plus it was 830pm. The menus are dated so recycle the lunch ones when dinner hits. Turning to food the sea bass was very good. The caesar salad was a disappointment. They have a good choice of specialty drinks. 4.49 for an iced tea is high. Service was OK. Expected better bread; like you get at Capital Grille.

A friend of mine has been telling me to check this place out for quite some time now. I finally stopped in yesterday to check it out, I’m so glad I did! Walking in I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere. I felt like I had set sail! Ha! Ok maybe too much wine during happy hour. We sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine($ 5). The house Cabernet Sauvignon was smooth and easy to drink. I tried the fish tacos which were delicious. Two blacked fish tacos($ 5) topped with a mango salsa. Yum! The staff members were friendly and attentive. Go check them out! Happy hour Mon-Fri 4pm-7pm
