Updated to add that after submitting my previous review on their website, they gave us a gift card to return. The gift card wasn’t near the amount that we paid for our first visit, but we decided to give them one more try and this time, we sat at the bar during happy hour. The experience there was much better and I felt like we got a pretty good value on the food/drinks we had. The bartender was awesome. If you go to Prime47, I suggest their bar happy hour instead of their dining room.

My wife and I «dined» at Prime 47 on Saturday 5⁄21 at 530P. It was our first visit to the restaurant and very likely will be the last. The«delmonico» ribeye($ 53) was a pretty ordinary cut of ribeye steak with a LOT of gristle and fat. I could have purchased a better cut of meat at the supermarket, already wrapped in plastic and housed in Styrofoam. After working through a little less than half the steak and realizing I had discarded all but two bites, I gave up. It was the worst premium steak I’ve had in a good long while, and should have been an embarrassment to serve. I can’t believe the«chef» didn’t see the faults in this cut. My wife enjoyed the filet trio. She asked for medium rare plus, knowing that can be tough pull for a fast kitchen. Thin cuts can cook thru very quickly. Fortunately, with it being early on Saturday we were well ahead of rush. Her dish was served medium rare minus, bordering on rare. Clearly this wasn’t a demonstration of mad kitchen skills by a restaurant that calls itself a steakhouse. The truffle mac and cheese was a good side, but a but too much butter made it a bit runny. It was okay, as was the salad with blue cheese dressing. The focaccia bread was a complete non-starter. Advice to Prime 47 — drop this bread and go to a good baguette. The shrimp cocktail sauce was a horse radish bomb. That flavor can be a nice way to start a meal, but the consistency of the sauce was more like paste. Personal bias, I don’t find that mouthfeel particularly appetizing. But it was tasty. All in all, if I’d had this meal at a competitor to, say, Longhorn’s, then I’d have been satisfied, and $ 100 richer. As it was, chaulk this up to the loser column. I’m honestly surprised at how mediocre this meal was. The service was as good as the service I’ve had at any chain restaurant — which is to say it’s not exceptional. More along the lines of acceptable. With Jeff Ruby’s, Morton’s and other ‘real’ steakhouses within walking distance, and The Precint and others just a short ride away, I can’t see making this a destination. I know we won’t be going again anytime soon.

We came in for restaurant week with a group of 7 — so keep that in mind as you read my review. The meal started out really well. Our server was at our table within 30 seconds and was super nice with a great personality. Our party was sat at a large round which I personally prefer over a square table since you can interact with everyone. The server, a gentleman, explained that they did a team style service which is fine. We put in our drinks orders, and he made some great wine recommendations, and the drinks arrived within 6 minutes — no problem there. After which he came back and we placed our order. Due to it being restaurant week they were taking the order for all 3 courses at once. Again, not an issue. Our first courses came our really quickly. Between the 7 of us we each got one of the first course options and agreed that it was good. It’s a bit hard to mess up salads/soup so while it wasn’t the best Caesar I’d ever had(and who has something like that?) it was in no way shape or form bad. On to the main courses, I ordered the chicken pasta and my husband got the steak. Again between the 7 of us we ordered all of the main courses. They were just a beat too slow at getting out mains but not a big deal. I thought my pasta was good, but it tasted like something I could/would make at home. My husband enjoyed his steak but commented that it wasn’t as good as what we would get at Ruby’s or the Celestial. General consensus around the table was that everyone enjoyed their entrees but weren’t particularly blown away. Throughout this all, our server had been pretty good about getting refills. But the night went downhill after the main course. We waited 27 min from the time our plates were cleared to desserts? A little flabbergasted at how long it took. At that point, we didn’t even particularly want dessert but it seemed like everyone on the service team just started skipping our table. The server’s section was full so we understood why he might have been stretched a bit thin, but since it’s a team service I was wondering why no one stepped up to help seeing that our server was being kept busy by the other tables. The desserts themselves were fine — again nothing fantastic but good. Then we sat, and we sat, and we sat, another 16 min to get our checks. Then sat and sat and sat another 14 min to get paid out. From seating to leaving we had almost a 3 hour dinner that could have easily been wrapped up in 2 hours. Overall, food is good but not mind blowingly good, and I think for the price point and when you add in the speed/attentiveness of service, we’ll stick with Ruby’s or the Celestial.

I will keep it short and sweet… Go spend your hard earned money at Jeff Ruby’s. The only thing that stood out at this place was the price of the bill for mediocre service and mediocre food that was seasoned horribly.

The service was great but the food left something to be desired. I was informed that the head chef was on his honeymoon so I will give Prime the benefit of the doubt. However, I a in no rush to give them another try

First visit and was not disappointed… but was not overly impressed. The service was very good but not excellent. The food(Calamari, Mussels, Steak, Brussel Sprouts, Risotto) good not outstanding. The décor was rather austere and the music was a little loud. So we enjoyed ourselves but don’t think we would go back. With so many other choices that are outstanding in that area I would choose to spend those $$ elsewhere. BULLETIN!!! We just opened our doggie bag and they gave us somebody else’s leftovers. Sorry I can’t recommend this place and I really wanted to do that.

Spoiled Meat We went there yesterday and my husband got sick toward the end of the meal. So much so that he had to leave(we walked there) so i stayed to box it all up. When i got home he had vomited several times. We discovered that the pork chop was spoiled, giving off a rancid smell toward the bone and fatty tissue. It was our first and last visit. Its unfortunate because my fish and veggies were ok, not great but ok. The best part was the live band.

Celebrated my loves birthday here. Loved the décor and atmosphere of the restaurant. Best of all was the intimate environment with a window table looking out on Walnut. The live music really set the tone for a relax evening with Dawn, from Flawless. I had the Salmon and he had the Steak. The Steak had really good flavor. I would return to try other items on the menu. Reasonable price for dinner, for 2 downtown.

I took my dad here for his birthday Saturday. Parking was no problem… we found a meter on the street very close by. The restaurant wrote Happy Birthday with my dad’s first name at the top of all of our menus… Morton’s is the only place I had been before now that would do that. The service was excellent — very attentive. They had a team wait on us rather than just one person. The Roasted Brussels Sprouts are wonderful — made with bacon and maple syrup! I had Halibut for dinner and it was delicious! They had a jazzy cover band playing that created a nice atmosphere. I will be back!

We came in for Easter brunch and was quite disappointed at the selections. The only good thing was if there was one is the bottomless Mimosa’s. We had to wait for plates to be brought to the buffet table and most of the food was out when we went to the buffet.(even though they did refill). I have been to Eddie Merlots a number of times for Easter brunch and you cannot even begin to compare. The ambiance is nice and my waiter was extremely slow with refilling my mimosas. The price is the same that I have paid in the past with Eddie Merlots. In conclusion I was expecting a lot more from a Prime 47 since I have been to a number of Prime restaurants. Desserts were almost non existent… Cupcakes and brownies… Not acceptable for a restaurant of such caliber. The only thing my son was able to eat was the omelet and some cut up fruit. Will not be returning for another Easter brunch

Went for Easter bruch. Food and service was excellent. Super Jumbo shrimp, Prime rib, ham, beef wellington, eggs benedict, and their special lobster mac n cheese and truffle macn cheese. fruit salad, caesar salad, and mixed greens salad were nice. Smoked salmon, capers and eggs too. They also made omelettes and had french toast. The only thing missing was cooked veggies. Desserts were simple but good: key lime squares, sea salt brownies and carrot cake cupcakes. Unlimited mimosas for$ 12.

I came here for lunch because we saw the $ 12 special sign outside. I think they just started being open for lunch? I’m glad they are because we will probably return! Our server was super nice and attentive. My coworkers and I all got the prime stack special, which was basically a semi-fancy version of a philly cheese steak. It comes with your choice of a side. I got the parmesan wedges, per suggestion by our server, but i wasn’t too crazy about them. Ugh I’m a potato lover though no matter what so they were still good. I tried the lobster bisque too, and it was good. Good value for lunch!

Another fabulous meal!!! The Bouillabaisse was loaded with seafood… the wedge salad was yummy… and a seriously great filet mignon. It was ½ price wine night, and the Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon selected by my wine connoisseur boyfriend was perfection, especially at half price. We always order the Tomahawk as it’s the best steak ever, but we were definitely pleased with the entire meal. The band was wonderful too!

Before you read my review understand that my wife and I are frequent restaurant goers and in regards to steak restaurants we’ve been to multiple Ruby steakhouses, the Celestial, Ruth Chris, and now Prime 47 just in Cincinnati and others around the US. My review isn’t from an angry guy with 1 night out and no reference. The service was average. They didn’t make us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant but they didn’t leave us looking around like we were lost either. They did their job but in no way any more or less attentive than what you’d get at Applebee’s. In regards to the food, my wife and I didn’t eat anything bad(though our crab cake was cold in the middle) but when a meal costs $ 180 prior to tip something should stand out or make you say«wow.» Nothing did and that’s disappointing. I feel like I could have gotten the same steak at Outback. Neither filet was very tender. The sides and soup/salad were very good and probably my favorite parts of the meal. I do not feel this restaurant is worth my time or money in the future and I would recommend Carlo and Johnny’s if you’re looking for a nice steakhouse.

Prime 47 was Very disappointing. We’ve been really excited to come here and finally made it. The service was OK. The waitress was not very knowledgeable and hadn’t even tried many of the items on the menu. Their salads are very boring. Maybe the rest of their steaks are really good, but we ordered a sirloin and it was fatty and just OK. Not amazingly good like it should be at a steak restaurant that’s this expensive. The mashed potatoes were tasty and interesting. I think the best thing we ate was their horseradish sauce. It was really good. It Overall, it was just all OK. But extremely expensive for just OK.

Went there just for drinks with my girls. Never had been here before. The service was pretty incredible for the fact we were just getting drinks. The environment was great, the live music they had was awesome. Even though the drinks were a little overpriced but was well worth it because the environment and the drinks themselves was very good.

The service was incredible. Sat at the bar and the bartender was cool and informative. However, the food was bad. The crab cake was good, but went to school in the DMV so I must say it’s not on that level, but it’s a Midwest-8. My steak was ruined by the ridiculous amount of bleu cheese horseradish crust they put on top. I scraped it off and showed the serve. It looked like a bowl of oatmeal. Tried to order creamed spinach… needless to say, not how gramamma makes it. But I can live with that. What threw me was the ridiculous amount of whatever crust they sprinkle on top. Again, overboard with the enhancement. Overpriced, bad food… even the pianist was bad. There’s like five steakhouse in a four block radius… pick any one but this one. Even McCormick’s is better… and that should say a lot. Only reason it’s getting the second star is the service, the crab cake, and dessert… You’ve been warned!

A place like this is obviously striving to be the best of their kind but this place is pretty mediocre for a high end steakhouse. Now it’s no chili’s or applebees either. But it lacks in all those things that could make it great. For starters, we were a group of about six. I ordered the bone in filet. It was a nice cut off meat. My steak was cool throughout when i got it. It was cooked close but it must have sat on the counter a while, waiting on the other steaks to finish. Side dishes are touted as being amazing but are really kind of mediocre. Everything is ala carte so you don’t even get a potato without paying extra. When you already paid 65 bucks for a steak, i feel a potato or something else should be included. Our service was not that greatest. We had people at our table who ordered items and never got them. We had some wine but the servers never even asked if anyone wanted a cocktail until the end of the meal. I feel that the servers were not well suited to the task. They did bring us a nice plate of complimentary desserts to enjoy. Probably because the bill was so large. If anyone from the restaurants wants to know how to do it right, go to Bobs Steak and Chop House in DFW Texas. This place delivers a product that is truely top shelf. The servers know their stuff and its probably less expensive than Prime 47. That’s just my two cents. It’s not a terrible place. It may be just fine for a couple or maybe the people weren’t on their game that night. Parking is valet and will run you 8 bucks.

We went here for restaurant week and it was a WONDERFUL experience! The service was outstanding(shout out to Kevin and Chris), and the food was delicious. It was restaurant week, so we got a 3-course meal for $ 35 per person, and it was absolutely worth every penny. I started with the soup of the day, a cauliflower-bacon cream-based soup, and it was fabulous. I would definitely eat that again. My boyfriend got a side salad, which was just a typical salad. For the entrees, we ended up getting the same thing: the filet trio with cheddar mashed potatoes. We received three perfectly cooked filet medalions, each with a different topping: one was a wine-peppercorn sauce, one was Oscar style with Bernaise sauce and crab and asparagus, and the last(my favorite) was bleu cheese and horseradish. The mashed potatoes were phenomenal. Our last course was dessert — I got the chocolate-orange bread pudding, and my boyfriend got the half-baked chocolate chip cookie. Both were delicious, but by this point in the meal, we were too stuffed to each much of it. I’d totally recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some upscale dining. We had a super great deal for our food, but during normal times, it is pricey. The menu listed the filet trio as $ 36, which would have included the soup or salad, but sides are a la carte. Service is of the highest quality, so you will be treated well here.

Prime 47 positions itself as a more upscale dining experience and for the most part they get it right. There was live piano music at the bar, a solid selection of wine and alcohol, and friendly staff that greeted me as I walked in. This is also a dressier place, which works well for a business dinner or a date. It certainly looks the part inside. I tried three appetizers, the shrimp cocktail, the crab cakes, and caprese. The crab cakes were my favorite, being able to catch lumps of meat in the dish and the spices did not overwhelm the flavor of the meat — well done! I tried to like the shrimp cocktail, but the presentation made the shrimp feel undersized. I also found the shrimp to be on the overcooked side. The presentation of the caprese was good, with tomato and cheese being similarly sized. For the main course, I had the 8 oz fillet, with side of asparagus, mushroom, and mashed potatoes. I found the mushrooms overly oily and the asparagus soft because of how thin they were. The fillet had a nice outer crust with clear grill marks and a very tender interior. Dessert was great. I liked the shortbread I had picked and my friends enjoyed the cheesecake. Though, secretly, I would’ve preferred some ice cream over the dessert as opposed to the whipped cream, but that’s just me. Dinner service was attentive throughout the night. The staff introduced the meal items, but generally left us alone except to top of drinks or to change plates. There were a couple misses here and there to make the experience less than perfect(didn’t offer me wine, missed a place setting, forgot to pass out silverware completely). Faulting them on that is rather picky, but then again, I am rating them for the tier they should be compared to in style and price. Overall, I find this a perfectly acceptable steakhouse, average among the ones I’ve been to.
