I really wanted to love this place but it was just so so. We ordered a antipasta salad and the chicken parmesan. The salad was the best part of the meal and I actually really did enjoy it. The chicken on the other hand kind of had a rubbery texture to it. It could have possibly not have ever even been chicken. :/
Fortunately the staff was extremely friendly and I am a sucker for good service. I think this might be a place to go to if your just looking for a slice of pizza and a beer. We happened to notice it just got bought out so I am eager to see what changes are made.

This place is a really good italian restaurant in newport beach. Its a hidden gem in my opinion. The food is really tasty and the service is really good too. They’re always so helpful and friendly. They also serve the food really fast. I love the Chicken Parmigiana but everything is good!

Ordered the antipasto salad and the pasta chicken. The antipasto was perfectly serviceable, if a bit heavy on lettuce, but the main really fell down. The best I can say is that the pasta seemed appropriately done. Beyond that, the chicken was very dry and utterly devoid of flavor. The pasta sauce tasted of some of the more forgettable jar sauces you can buy at the market. For the price I expected better flavor than I can get out of boiling noodles and pouring some microwaved ragu jar sauce atop it. Matter of fact, ragu would have been more flavorful.

I ordered using Eat24 and our delivery exceeded our expectations! We ordered the chicken parm and garlic bread, which is a delicious comfort food.
The service and delivery was fast and the food was delicious. We look forward to stopping in soon!

This place says online that they are open until 9pm. Called at 8:45 to place a quick pickup order. Phone rang and rang and rang. And… No answer. Not even a voicemail. If you are going to order from this restaurant — you better call your order in at 7 or something because they don’t answer the phone 15 minutes before they close to even tell you they are not taking any orders.
If a restaurant says they are open until a particular time they should at least answer the phone until the close.
Food is good though. That is not the complaint. Just wish they would change their online hours if they are not going to answer the phone.

The eggplant Parmesan is sooooooooo good! And their garden salad is really good too. My roommate always orders the pizza and says it’s the best! My brother loves the chicken parm sandwich. We can’t get enough of this place. The delivery guys are really nice as well as the people who answer the phone. Never a bad experience with Mario’s!

This afternoon I walked in and asked to use the restroom and I figured it would be no problem since I have spent more money here than most restaurants in the area over the years. Giovanni the manager told me it was for customers only. I told him I had been eating at this place since 1991 back when it was Gina’s Pizza. He said he did not care and that «You are not a customer today!». At that point I told him I will NEVER eat here again. Then as he picked up the phone he told me to get off the property as he was calling the cops and I was trespassing. It is not like I look like a bum who is going to take a shower in the wash basin or I was making a scene… I am a health care provider and a father. He was the RUDEST manager I have EVER met and I hope the owner reads this. I definitely will NEVER eat here again and I will make sure that everyone in Newport knows about this!

What happen to the crust tasted like freezer crust ordered the Mediterranean pizza and a 2 topping xl pizza and toppings were fine but crust sucked no flavor feather have Pizza Hut!

One of my favorite places around. Out of sight service and great food. Can’t go wrong.

I was a loyal customer here for more than 10 years, dine in and delivery. I’m a big fan of supporting small local businesses. Recently, their service has declined terribly. When I mentioned it to the regular manager he had no apology, instead he just excused it by saying they are just really busy. I figure I’ll help fix that by discontinuing my support and letting you all know that they don’t value their customers, so don’t bother.

Bruschetta appetizers were delicious. Topping was tasty and portions was decent.
We had chicken parmigiana, spaghetti and an Italian sandwich.
Authentic and delicious.
Customer service was so nice.
We will be back soon!

I want to thank the fine people of Mario’s for restoring my love for this country. I’m not sure there is anywhere else in the world that would default to putting alfredo sauce on cheese ravioli. And for that, on this memorial day I say — God bless America!
Somehow this concoction didn’t quite live up to my initial excitement of eating 86,000 calories of dairy-​filled goodness for dinner… but I will say that the delivery man got to my house faster than the ambulance did after my cheese-​induced heart attack left me wishing I was more clear with my sauce selection during ordering.
Two stars for the food, bonus star for the service, extra bonus star because… Well… ALFREDO ON EVERYTHIIIIIIINGGGG!!!

Tried this place last night & don’t have a bad thing to say about it. Customer service was great. Our food came out pretty fast & it was very fresh! We just got a pepperoni but it was covered in cheese & pepperoni. Would definitely be back if I’m in the area.

I am in love with the lasagna. And the chicken Parmesan. I often have a battle within myself on what I’ll have. Living 4 blocks away soils me. But yes I love this place and I’m very picky about Italian food! Sandwiches are a win win as well!

When I’m craving a slice of pizza with salad or a meatball sandwich when around the Newport area Marios is the place to go! Salad portions are great and I always end up with leftovers that don’t last long in my fridge… The staff is always friendly and I have never had anything that did not taste fresh…

This place is crawling distance from where I live, so I have visited twice recently kind of by default. First visit I tried the Greek Salad, without any chicken or other meat options. Very fresh ingredients, a little skimpy on the feta, but not horribly so. It was overpriced like everything seems to be here. Hey, its the beach, so they pretty much do the ol ‘gotcha pricing 101.’
Second time I ordered the 1 slice pizza special that is always on the sandwich board out front. Fairly large piece that comes with an uninspired salad of mostly iceberg lettuce. Also overpriced at $ 8.99, as this is not very good pizza. Unilocal bud Nino R compared it to Sbarro’s, which is the vendor at many of your local malls and arenas. Nuff said. Not terrible, but again, not good. If you have been at the beach all day and are famished, this will fill your belly. It appears that is the goal here. Feed the tourists and the beach goers, and with the transient crowd they can still do a decent business. I doubt if you will see many repeat locals however.
The counter service is actually very good, with a veteran staff that are very cheery and efficient in performing their duties. At least they have that going for them. Oh, and they do serve beer and wine. So two things going for them.

Pasta Salad with Cheese and Avocado. The dressings are perfect with this fun pasta salad — and I normally do not like Pasta Salad… but this is pretty yummy.
Its 5 stars for what it is … great neighborhood casual italian spot. I like that that deliver lots of different items — not just pizza.
…great delivery service, quality and tastes yummy — like homey comfort food. — and pretty big portions.
I will definitely do this again…
