As expected, flavor wise Five Guys is just an average burger. Size wise — This burger was gigantic, at least four inches tall, and we got the junior size, too. You definitely get your money’s worth in calories. You can customize your burger with their selection of fixin’s. However, don’t expect the cashier to guide you in the process. They were a bit knowledge lacking(they couldn’t even tell me how heavy the meat patties were). In our confusion we simply ordered our burgers«with everything.» The meat patty was cooked well. The sauteed mushrooms added a nice texture. The fries are steak cut and a bit under seasoned. Just add ketchup. Like the burger, the fries are served in big portions. You know that feeling you get when you finish your fries and you wish you had more? At Five Guys, you just need to look at the bottom of your bag to find more fries!

I was surprised when I saw the 3-star rating, because I wasn’t sure others were feeling the same way as I was about this place. I’m not particularly impressed with a burger place that charges $ 14.23 for a cheeseburger, fries and soda handed to you in a greasy brown paper bag. At this price point why would I choose a fast food experience at a sit down price. For $ 10-$ 12 I can get the same or better food at Islands or Lazy Dog Café and get table service and not feel gouged. Sure if I was at Staples Center I would expect to pay at least this much for an equally casual product, but it just doesn’t sit right in any other context.

Overpriced and nothing special about the food. The burgers and fries are okay but nothing special and definitely not worth the price. The staff was kind of rude too. Probably won’t be back.

I ordered a cheese burger with fries and drink. It was the worst cheese burger i’ve ever had. Tasteless, bland and no flavor. I was very disappointed. Especially since i had to pay $ 15 for this combo. How can you even go wrong with a cheeseburger?

Good solid burger(made your way with unlimited toppings) in the Fashion Island Food Court. If you’re looking for a guilt free lunch, I suggest walking away. Their little cheeseburger itself is a pricey morsel, but their beef is 100% grass fed so you’ll be paying a bit higher than your average fast food joint. Their fries are awesome. They are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. You can choose it plain or have it heavily seasoned their way. Their potatoes are shipped from all over the states and they advertise where their potatoes came from that day on the board. What sucks about this location is that they don’t have shakes or their free peanuts. which is a deal killer cause I love peanuts! And my burger was a bit soggy on the side, as you can see from the pic. Darn.

Unfortunately, ate here yesterday at the Fashion Island Food Court. I was craving a burger, even though I knew from past experience FG is pricey –cost me over $ 12 for a cheeseburger and fries, no drink. Burger tasted fine, nice that it comes with two patties. Fries were made fresh, but somehow managed to come out limp and greasy. Worst thing was I started having tremendous stomach cramps about an hour later that lasted throughout the night. Must have been spoiled meat or the grease from the fries. I will NEVER be back… Save your money and go to the Habit or In n Out if you are craving a good burger at a good price!

The fries here are great and super crispy. I love how the regular portion they give you can feed 2 – 3 people. The burger is pretty tasty. You can pick and choose your toppings in your burger. It is definitely tasty but to compare this to In N Out is a bit of a stretch. A small cheeseburger is almost $ 8 there while a regular fries is almost $ 4. Definitely not worth the price but the free peanuts are cool I guess

I love Five Guys, mainly the fries! It’s hard to find a burger that’s really spicy so the fact that I get to customize my burger with lots of jalapeños is great. However, the best is the Cajun fries. Five Guys has the best fries and their definition of little fries is a small cup of fries… and then dump a tray of fries into the bag LOL. Staff is sort of impersonal, not really friendly, but I came for good fast food and that’s what I got.

So I was walking through the strips of Fashion Island looking for food and I came down to the food court… Lo behold there was Five Guys Burgers and Fries. I worked the courage to order myself the Kosher Style Hot Dog all in with their awesome hand cut fries. Even their regular fries are topped up and become large fries. I ate twice here and the service was friendly, fast and clean. The food was very good and the hot dog was cooked properly. There is lot of seating available as its in the food court area beside the Gelato place.

My second time dining at Five Guys, but not my first time eating a protein burger. This is by far THE worst protein burger I’ve ever had. Either that or the worker making my burger was incompetent. I would say maybe a little of both. Not only did my order take FOREVER, the worker left it on the back counter as he worked on other orders. He definitely didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing, and I could overhear his boss correcting his actions. I cut him some slack… until I got to my burger. The burger itself was super greasy, which overpowered any flavor it could potentially have. The lettuce wrap-job was horrendous and didn’t even make any sense. The burger was just situated between two really big pieces of lettuce, that didn’t connect and didn’t hold the burger at all. I had to eat my burger like it was a salad(no wonder they have a «bowl» option).

Food is very good, but sometimes the staff are rude and obnoxious. We go regularly because the burgers are great. Very tasty and good quality. Usually the staff are friendly and efficient. On our visit today the staff were yelling really loud and laughing at each other. Very pleased with themselves. While waiting in line, one of the cashiers apparently opened a second line. All of the customers were so confused by the telling that no one noticed the second line. After what was only a few seconds the second cashier yelled«I’m open!» When no one jumped to his line he said«or not!». They were so loud it was hard to place our order. I had to cover an ear to hear my wife right next to me. I had to ask the cashier if he could hear me over the yelling. Not a pleasant ordering experience. The food was great though.

Burnt fries and a thin burger patty that fell apart with a bun that was soaked with grease. Almost illegally bad.

We stop at this Five Guys after our annual March of Dimes walk(held in April, oddly). This has to be the slowest Five Guys around. I cannot figure out why it takes so long to get my order. I have been to the Torrance and Cerritos location and both don’t have this problem. The burger is good. I always get the bacon cheeseburger w/everything. Fries are great. Among the choices in the food court, Five Guys is the pick despite the slowness.

Just had five guys at fashion island. I’m not a regular, so I’m not familiar with their menu. However, I ordered a cheeseburger, all the while not knowing that I would get a double cheeseburger. The cashier didn’t clarify at all. To me, the menu is misleading, and they should specify that it is a double cheeseburger. The burger was alright. Nothing special. The fries were under cooked and way too salty. Don’t think I’ll come back after this experience.

This place has really good burgers, but it’s not like In N Out. You have a bunch of toppings to choose from which is really cool. The fries aren’t that great and the bun is always soggy, and overall I think their food is overpriced for what it is. Id rather go to Red Robin and get a way better meal for the same price.

Burgers are always delicious, service is always excellent, & the price is appropriate for what you get. What else could you ask for. What encouraged me to write a review was because of something I just witnessed an employee do. If you’ve never been to this location it is in a food court of the atrium, they are standing behind a counter taking your order & giving your order to you all still while standing behind the counter. they do not have a way to go in & out without going through their back door.(Counter does not open) So giant compliment to the girl who walked all the way around to personally bring an order directly to two older customers at their table, one could see the older lady had a difficult time walking. The girl did not need to do that, they could have yelled their number like they do for everyone else. But it was such an above & beyond gesture to do for a customer. It should be acknowledged & praised.

Enjoyed my experience today. Staff members were friendly. I ordered bacon cheese burger with sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions, and BBQ sauce. Everything was to my satisfaction. I also got an order of fries. Oh, how it hit the spot! What I like about this location is that it is in Fashion Island, which means it is well maintained for the wealthy people. Not that they would necessarily choose to eat there with Fleming’s and the other choices near by. Just saying they keep up with appearances here. It beats sitting on an old pickle. Overall I would recommend this location, the presentation of employees and food, etc. Down fall is that two burgers and one drink came out to 19 bucks. OUCH!

I am not really feeling Five Guys Burgers and wonder how the comparisons to In N Out came around. Five Guys started appearing in SoCal 3(or so) years ago and i still recall the hype and superlatives thrown around like yesterday. «In N Out finally will have real competition» some said as if they already didn’t from Rally’s, The Habit and others. I tried it then and I tried it again this week. This is a very humdrum experience. My first argument is that you can easily get a pair of In N Out meals for the price of one from Five Guys. $ 12 plus dollars for a fast food burger and fries? That is very steep and honestly, even when customized to my tastes, this was a barely average burger. The patty was overcooked, the tomato overly ripe and the bun was a soggy mess at the bottom both of the times I visited. The fries I will say are a redeemer of sorts. Hot, crispy and generous. In that order. I like that you can easily share a single order of fries amongst two people. What I did not care for was the way these guys dump the fries on top of your burger so by the time you pull out the burger out of the bag your hand looks like it was used in some crazy ass porn scene or something. I wear dress shirts at work and should have invoiced Five Guys for the dry cleaning charges. All Five of these guys should ditch this idea, it sucks. So there you have it, an almost mediocre burger that costs a small fortune and the fries are dumped in the bag with the amount of care a crack whore takes in selecting their next customer. Pass.

I like the topping options. On my bunless little cheeseburger I added tomato, grilled mushroom, peppers, jalapenos, pickles, mustard and of course wrapped in lettuce. The lettuce does not seem nearly as crisp as In and Out’s protein burger but I love that I was able to add grilled mushroom, peppers and jalapenos. Overall the quality is fair. The locations is convenient The price is decent compared to all the other food court restaurants in Fashion Island but expensive when compared to In and Out. I’m glad I had a chance to try it but probably will not crave it.

What I like about this burger chain is the amount and variety of toppings you can get on your burger. I don’t know of any other chain where you can have bell peppers as a topping. Their burgers taste fresh and good. I always order the junior hamburger because the regular hamburger has two patties. Cajun fries here are good, not that spicy, but with a subtle, addictive kick. Their regular fries are good, too. I was kind of surprised that they had our order in a paper bag when we wanted to eat in the food court, but found the bag was handy for their overpouring of fries. Yay! One thing I didn’t understand is the tip jar at the counter. None of the other burger chains I’ve been to have them. To pay more than what other chains charge for burgers and fries and then see a tip jar is really not the best thing. But then again, tip jars are ubiquitous. Unlike the standalone locations, there are no free shelled peanuts, but this is nice to have in the food court.
