First class. Dog friendly patio. Excellent food, service, ambiance! First time here. But cant wait to come back. A hidden in plain sight gem.

ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! Visiting from out of town, always love to find local places and swung into this gem on a whim! Giant portion, reasonable price, fresh and great flavor. Daughter’s pancake was so fluffy and needed minimal syrup; the ACAS sandwich with tuna was great and husband’s Monte Cristo was the best he has ever had! Win on all points… even the owner stopped by to clear dishes and chat about them opening for dinner soon. GREAT hospitality and food

We loved Cappy’s for breakfast. Hit it two days. Friendly service, huge menu of great breakfast options. I had an omelette one day then had three eggs over medium. Very tasty. Good for families.

Always have a decent meal at Cappy’s. Diner food. Last time however, found a long, thick, wool/cotton string in my food it. Didn’t say anything to the server, just took it out and tossed it in a napkin, since I don’t usually complain. A few bites into the plate, I find not one, but three really long hairs in the same meal. Now I have a napkin full enough to make a bracelet with. So we tell our server, she takes the food back, and the manager comes over. He offers us 25% off of our next meal, and that is it. We asked if there was anything he could do about this meal, and he said he could not. Probably a freak accident with 4 non-edible items in one plate, but thought they would do more for that.

I normally love Cappy’s. I’ve always told people everything is great, well not today. Warning! Don’t order the Monte Crisco. I love Monte Criscos and this is the worst I’ve ever had. Order anything else you will be happy. One star off for disgusting Monte Crisco.

Waitress says they don’t have rye bread, then delivers rye bread to the table next to me. She looked me straight in the eye while she said to the other customer«Here is your rye bread». One of the strangest things I’ve seen a waitress do. Also, there is always a ton of water on the plate with the eggs. All food there tastes like salt water. Over priced. the pancakes are dry and doughy. Your better off going down the street to Chronic tacos.

We are so glad we found this place. Food is amazing. Since we decided to try breakfast here(on Thursday) we have been back every morning. Tons of food everything has been delicious… Only regret is not trying Cappys café at the beginning of our vacation…

We decided to try Cappy’s Café on a Saturday morning(May 21) and found the restaurant busy — but not too backed up. We arrived about 9:00 am, there were still a couple of parking places left, and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. While we were waiting, we noticed that the restaurant is full of staff keeping everything moving. In an era when so many restaurants have cut employees to a small number of wait staff that have to set up, serve, and clean, Cappy’s has people that make sure your coffee is full and others to clear away the dishes allowing the large number of wait staff to focus on the customers’ needs. The actual breakfast menu was longer than the on line version, and there are many, many choices. Be prepared for large portions(share). We had the biscuits and gravy and a ham, sausage, and bacon with egg platter.(Warning* the ham slice fills the platter — definitely be prepared to share). Our food arrived in a reasonable time and was quite tasty. The biscuits and gravy was excellent and the ham, sausage, and bacon were quite good as well. I do not know how they made the ham so good, but I am having it again. One real plus for our coffee was a choice between half-and-half and a non-dairy creamer(one of us is lactose intolerant). It appears that the restaurant has been kept up to date(unlike some of our old favorites in Laguna). The tables and chairs are updated and the restrooms are modern, well lit, and clean.

My wife and I really enjoyed the breakfast. Where the locals go for good food and to get away from Main street.

Denver omelet was terrible! The peppers and onions were completely raw, not even warm. I decided just to eat the egg part and there were chunks of shell in the cooked egg. So nasty! Winner of the WORST omelet I have ever had at a restaurant!

Always a friendly atmosphere and great breakfast. I like to come here to get out of the kitchen once in awhile. It’s just down the street from me so I could walk if I weren’t so lazy. Haha. So many good items on the menu to choose from that I’ve never had the same thing twice after at least a dozen visits. I even bought Girl Scout cookies once. From a great little saleswoman eating here for breakfast.

I love coming here for an awesome wholesome belly filling delicious brunch! They have great options for egg dishes. I had the eggs florentine which was so homey and full flavored! Super comfy casual inside the place, may tend to get a little loud but it’s nothing unbearable. Love the swiftness and kindness of service. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my food and the quality is great and fresh! Love it here, not a ritzy fancy place but definite has character and GREAT food!

Upon arriving after my BF went surfing there was a small wait about 10 – 15 minutes which isn’t bad for a Sunday morning. We chose the option for whatever seat was available first and got sat in the patio. We liked this spot :) Although I felt a little trapped and wedged in between larger people seated directly behind me lol. We both ordered a coffee with vanilla creamer and they were good. California omelette was good except for the runny white egg mixed inside that wasn’t cooked all the way through. I just dug it out and moved it away to the side. There was a large amount of crispy bacon inside and fresh avocado, tomatoes and covered in cheddar cheese on top. I really enjoyed it. The potatoes were good too but I avoided the burnt areas. Toast was also good and crisp. I made a good dent in the omelette although couldn’t finish everything, it was a lot of food for me :) French toast my BF got was ok to him he said. It looked good when I came but I didn’t try it myself. Service was good we had two waitresses they were friendly and polite. We overall paid $ 30 not bad! Would I return yes I would. Not spectacular but good!

Always an enjoyable meal here. We always go for breakfast, have never tried their lunch or the occasional dinner that they are open for. Staff is friendly and remembers your face. I like that they added more waiting seats(benches) outside because sometimes it’s pretty busy. They have a full bar so you can get a bloody mary or mimosa with your meal if you wish. Parking isn’t too bad. They have a decent amount of bicycle parking too. Oh, and a patio where they allow dogs. Enjoy!

EXCELLENT! 10STARS! Wow. I’ve driven by this place so many times, but always wrote it off as a dive bar until a friend took me to brunch there. It was surprisingly nice inside, felt like a hip family restaurant, and that reflected in the clientele(couples, families with kids, groups of friends). Best customer service I’ve ever had. Promptly greeted and seated, server was very attentive, great attitude, perky smile. Not fake, just bubbly. I noticed that the manager or another staff member was always standing at the back of the room, scanning the tables, and would make sure all the customers had what they needed. After our food arrived, I noticed we didn’t have a pepper shaker at our table and just snagged one from an empty table. The manager came over, apologized that I had to get up for something, and asked if everything was okay. Wow! And the food! Soooo good, and you get an ample amount. I wanted most of what was on their diverse menu(smoothies looked tasty), but got an omelette with feta, fruit, and sourdough toast. Omelette was huge(see picture), fruit was fresh and ripe(no crunchy melon or dry oranges), and toast was thick and crunchy. My friend got hash, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and sourdough as well. We both enjoyed our dishes but couldn’t finish it all. My friend’s brother always asks the family to eat here on his birthday, and I can understand why. I’ll definitely be back and bringing more people. Highly recommend! Ps– excellent selection of hot sauces on the table!

I should have read my own review before ordering this morning. I got suckered by the pancakes again! When will I learn? READ UnilocalFIRST! Just like last time they were gummy and barely edible. The sausage patty I should have brought home to my dogs to sharpen their teeth. Tough and dry. Once again over easy eggs were perfect! My server was friendly, quick, attentive; absolutely no problem with the service. I just think for the prices they charge the food should be better quality. I will now be sticking with the Reuben and the eggs Benedict.

+3 stars for the food. HUGE portions — emphasis on HUUUUGE. We had a table of 6 girls, we all ordered our own plates, and in reality could have split 3 of the plates just as easily. –2 stars for service. Service was REALLY slow and our server couldn’t remember things we’d ordered(that she forgot and we reminded her).

Cappy’s is your neighborhood diner near the beach. Usually end up coming here when the line is too long at Eat Chow. Usually not a long wait. The food isn’t anything to rave about but it’s pretty standard and they have huge portions. My favorites are the Mexican breakfasts. Service is friendly and fast — you will always have a full cup of joe.
