This place is nothing like the one in San Jose. My office co-worker always bring eggrolls from San Jose and I was so excited to find this store in Newark. I thought they are chain stores but apparently NOT. The eggroll is smaller and taste bad, the wrapper is thick and filling is no good either. I would rather go farther south to San Jose and will never come here. If you really wants to try King Eggroll, go to the one in San Jose.

Awful! The food was horrible. I ended up getting something hard in my food which I don’t even want to know what it was and now I’m hesitant to eat their egg rolls. I wasted $ 30 on this nasty food plus it’s overpriced

Awwww maaaan! What happened King Egg Roll? I used to hype you up to everyone who’s never had your egg rolls and now they are such a HUGE disappointment!!! I understand cost goes up but what keeps me coming back is the quality of your egg rolls. Your egg rolls USED to be thick and crunchy. Now its soggy and limp. Im assuming that you only use a single layer of wrapper now where as you used to use two layers. The filling is good but the texture isnt the same now that there’s only one layer of wrap. Also, $ 1.45 for each egg roll!!! You’re trippen… your other stores still only charges .85). I would not feel as bad IF the quality was the same but you’re raising the price AND decreasing quality? No thanks. I have always been a big fan but I just cant justify the high cost for such a low quality product. Please go back to your old recipe! Who agrees with me?

One of our favorite places for Chinese fast food. The BBQ pork is always good. We always get egg rolls. Tried the fried xiu mai today. It was very good. We also had some dim sum and were really pleased. Disappointed they no longer serve the egg and corn soup. It was really really good. Highly recommended them.

Okay so first… Eww. I usually don’t order anything except the egg rolls but even those lately have been not so good. But today topped the cake for me with this place. The coworkers and I all went to get some lunch. Total disaster. The egg roll tasted really soggy and not completely cooked. My coworker ordered the teriyaki chicken which was not completely cooked and still very raw in the middle. I ordered steamed rice and beef and broccoli. So gross. I can tell fresh rice from old rice. I’m a cook. So why in the EFF did they decide to serve me day old rice. Possibly even 2 days old but the rice had no steam, was not sticking together like fresh rice does and the taste was so dry and grainy like when you microwave old ass fried rice that’s been refrigerated from the night before. That’s exactly how it tasted. Nothing could spice this rice up and I wasn’t going to dare using the sticky runny snot-looking essence coming from the cloudy broccoli. Which then coagulated to a thick paste when the oil in it settled after about 10 minutes of being exposed to the air. All in all it was the most disgusting waste of $ 8.16 and I regret every second of it.

Honestly, you only need to come here for 2 things. Shrimp balls, and eggrolls. Both yummy, delcious, and cooked to perfection. Always a party favorite. The service can be a little hit and miss. I guess it just depends on how busy they are. Make sure you call ahead and order if you want to get a party tray.

I have been a customer for many years, and over the past two years have found the quality and quantity of their food has become disappointing. My friend and I were craving their spring rolls, so we decided to go buy a couple of orders. The shrimp spring rolls that were displayed did not look fresh, so we asked them to make us fresh orders which they gladly did. We took it to go and went back to work. I couldn’t believe what I unwrapped because those spring rolls were loosely wrapped and had very little filling! Since the spring rolls are made with three shrimp, rice noodles, and basil leaves then wrapped in a rice wrapper, it couldn’t be that expensive or hard to make! At $ 3.25 an order, I think I was overcharged! I don’t mind spending money on food; I just want quality! It’s going to be a very long time before I return to New King Eggroll in Newark!

Great tasting Chinese food. Limited items but very tasty. Nice and clean place. The crew is very cool and friendly. The egg rolls are fresh and crispy.

Oh my, what happened to this place? I haven’t been in here in about 2 years and am shocked by the change. I used to go nuts over their tasty egg rolls and the vermicelli plate. Just ordered the same thing for lunch today, after a 2 year hiatus, and the quality has plummeted. The vermicelli plate came with noodles that were large, cut in pieces and slimy along with 3 dinky pieces of grilled pork. Even their egg rolls, their claim to fame, tastes different… bad different. Poor quality, smaller portions, more expensive. I am so disappointed

I’ve been coming to this place for years now and it’s changed. The egg rolls haven’t stayed consistent in the taste. They used to be spot on but now they are just ok. It’s hard to find good egg rolls. I do like the spareribs. They are very tender and the flavor is awesome. Sometimes it seems as if the food has been sitting under a heat lamp. It’s a hit or miss on customer service here. The ladies are usually rude but sometimes I’ve had someone that will smile and act genuine. If asking for hot mustard, hot chili or whatever your garnish may be they have been very skimpy on giving me a decent amount.

My family makes every family celebration as an excuse to get some King Eggrolls! Heads up for anyone buying on holidays, it is always busy during christmas, new years, etc. Go in with some patience because theres only so many of them working to get out as many egg rolls as they can get out to the mass amounts of people that come through here on holidays. When they are really busy, it can seem like they are a bit chaotic with the organization, mostly caused by miscommunication and customers not knowing where to stand to order and where to stand when they are waiting to pick up, but with their staff on the go their entire shift, its not surprising to me and I wished the customers would be less harsh on them. I wanted to be like NEWSFLASHPEOPLE! Its a holiday, if you were in such a rush, you should have planned on getting there earlier so the 30 minute wait for your 80 egg rolls wouldn’t seem so bad. Theres like ten other people ahead of you that are waiting for their orders as well. Perhaps I sound harsh, but I am just calling it how I see it. But thank you king egg roll for the delicious appetizers for our party!

The name«King Egg Roll» is a bit misleading. Maybe replace the word King with«adequate» «okay» «so-so»… I have to say the location in East San Jose is much better. I bought a dozen egg rolls half pork and half chicken. Sure they were good but they did seem as they were kept warm under a heat lamp. It would be unfair of me to compare it to Phở Saigon’s egg rolls because to me those are by far the best. In retrospect I wish I would have just bought from there. As I sit with buyers remorse choking down these sub-par egg rolls… buzzkill

Called in for a party tray 5 hours before pickup time and then confirmed 30 minutes before I was going to pick up the tray. I still had to wait 30 minutes. I saw the cashier hand the cook my receipt. There’s no point to calling in before hand. This place won’t have it ready. I’m definitely never ordering from here again.

3.5 stars rounded up King Eggroll is pretty good — known for their crispy, perfectly fried, extra-sized egg rolls. They have many other varieties of items on the menu like viet sandwiches, smoothies, chinese fast food, and dim sum. About the 90% of the time I go, I go for the crispy egg rolls. Once in awhile I’ll order dim sum or a sandwich, but the egg rolls are definitely what brings me back here. The ladies who work here are pretty nice most of the time. Avoid the dim sum when it gets late, like maybe after 4pm. At this point, they are too dry from sitting around all day(unless that’s what you like.) This place is cash only, but there is an ATM in the restaurant, along with PLENTY of seating. Finally, I want to point out that they have been slowly increasing the prices of the egg rolls since I’ve been going four years ago): Hopefully it doesn’t keep increasing or I’ll have to go less often.

Call in advance for party trays and they don’t start serving food until around 9:30AM. You can order shrimp balls and egg rolls(fried food) early in the AM when they open up at 8AM. Overall the usual king egg roll goodness!!!

Been going he for about 5 years now and most of the time, I only get the shomai or deep fried food. I love their shrimp balls and vegi eggrolls! The chinese food was ok and nothing really to rave about. Just a tad too oily for me. They have plenty of seats for people and their prices seem to have gone up. Service is ok, not too friendly though. Location is easy to find on a main road where buses go. Seemed they were closed for a month or so but may have new management now but I can’t confirm this. Seems they have new staff. Will come back as this is good enough for a quick meal.

Eggrolls here were mehhhh compared to other King Rolls… the sauce was a little weird tasting too. Got the 2 item plus entrée: chow mein, beef brocolli, and orange chicken. All items were pretty dry. and tasteless. Not very satisfying.

Being a big fan of the King Egg Roll restaurants in San Jose, I figured the food here would be the same.(Does anyone know if they’re the same owners or chain?) Granted, the restaurant itself is cleaner and bigger, their food was not as delicious or cheap as the ones I go to in San Jose. I know egg rolls and shrimp balls have gotten more expensive, but they’re all $ 1 here and the quality isn’t as good. Usually, I will eat as many egg rolls as I can stuff down my throat, but none of their food here made me crave for more. Their dim sum prices also seem to be steeper than the other King Egg Roll restaurants. On top of the sub par food, the service here is horrible. Not only do some of the employees not know the pricing of the different items of food, other employees have horrible attitude. I shake my head at people who work in the food/hospitality business and do not know that customer service is their top priority. Because of the horrible experience, I told my boss to not cater from them. I told him I’d rather drive half an hour to the King Egg Roll in San Jose than the 15 minutes it took to drive here so he can get better food.
