If you like flavorless food well look no further san leandro is 1000% better. Staffs slow and rude too.

Slow service and the restaurant wasn’t even busy! The guacamole we ordered was not fresh and the nopales were from the jar! Very sad — not fresh at all! I asked for more lime for my beer and the waitress gave me 2 very thin slices — really?!! My chile relleno was pretty good — thank goodness! I had to ask for tortillas! Uggg Not going back — it had been 2 years since I’d eating there and today will be the last time!

Horrible service! Even though I was the only customer in the restaurant, the waitress never once came to check on us we had to call her over and wait for her to acknowledge us. The food is mediocre, I ordered a ceviche tostada and asked for it first as an appetizer, however she brought it together with the food. It was either let the food get cold eat the tostada or vice versa. Ended up being a flavorless pile of water tasting fish!!! The shrimp in my fajita where sad and over done, maybe if the used a higher quality shrimp(after all I am paying almost $ 20 for this plate) they would hold up better. There was not enough salt on the table to fix these bland dishes. My favorite part, I mean the best part was the lime slice on the side of my tostada. If I could give it a –2 stars I would.

They have awesome lunch specials and their food is consistent, it’s my place to be when I’m in the mood for Mexican, I would totally recommend this place in a heartbeat, friendly &speedy service. I love their horchata and my husband loves their warm chips and salsa. And Coronas

If I could I would give –1 star. Their guacamole was pitiful, all brown and when we asked why it was that color the waitress said it’s what left on the top and they try to mix it… wth. Also, the plates are hot but the food is just warm, really terrible. Definitely would not recommend this place and their«mexican» food. ugh

Good food at good prices. No bling, no dazzle … I could eat here everyday without a problem. Haven’t had anything I didn’t like. It’s a nice place that’s never to crowded that you don’t get good service.

I will frequent this place from time to time. The chips that they serve are fresh and light. Favorite dish is the chile verde lunch; it is filling and delicious.

I had never been to this location but thought i like the fremont in would try thisnone too. This location is closer to me and i crossed my fingers it would taste as good. The food was great but getting it was horrible. The parking available is so little and to even get out for take out is time consuming. That is the biggest drawback. Needs more parking desperately

Average food served in generous portions. Not bad; the service, while a bit slow was friendly.

For a «gringo» style Mexican Food restaurant — they are great! Always good atmosphere. Always fresh food. I have never had an issue with their service either.

Let me start by saying I love la piñata… But I sure do not love this location! SERVICEWASABSOLUTELYHORRIBLE!!! I have not experienced service like this in a very long time. I own a restaurant, so I know how difficult customers can be, so I make sure to be as easy as possible, I never complain, I’m very polite, the whole nine. This woman was absolutely ridiculous. Let’s just number off everything she did wrong(in order): 1. Party of 5. We asked for 5 waters with lime. Not only did she forget the lime(which is fine) but when we reminded her, she brought THREE!(I mean, let’s just have some common sense) 2. We asked for a chip refill and 3 extra salsas.(Did she make the chips from scratch? Cause they never arrived) but we did however get an eye roll when the extra salsa came. 3. She takes our order, and after she takes the 4th persons order, she walks off.(Uhh, there’s 5 of us?) 4.(This one is my favorite) I ordered 4 mini tacos. 2 carnitas, 1 carne asada, and 1 pastor. I guess Mexican restaurants do things differently now, because my pastor was actually CHICKEN, and when I brought that to her attention, she told me that THATISHOWTHEYDOTHEIRPASTOR, ANDTHATSWHATITIS! I’m so mad at this point, I just smile and eat the chicken taco, which, I wish I didn’t, because for the remainder of the evening and part of the following morning, I was bent over in the most horrible stomach and gas pains I had ever had. And this doesn’t even include all the times we had to ask for our waters refilled. And when she did come to check on our table, we were talking amongst ourselves about whether we wanted more chips, loud enough that I know she heard us. Did she ask us if we wanted more chips? Of course not. Will I ever come back here again? Of course not. She’s lucky she still got a $ 5.00 tip on a $ 95.00 tab. If it were up to me, I would’ve left her 2 pennies(literally.)

My family and I have been coming here for years and we love it! Our favorites are the green chilaquiles and mole enchiladas. So delicious. Salsa is always great too. They aren’t always the best at waiting tables but personally. Who cares? The foods good!

Surely Eeekkk… For sure not coming here again. I have stomach pain from the stinky carne asada burrito I had today. The carne asada I had was probably 2 days old, burnt, difficult to chew. As a Mexican, I expect the best from a Mexican restaurant. It its shame to find places like these. There is definitely room for improvement. If you like chips and salsa then this is a place to go to. So disappointing ;(

I was excited to find a Piñata close by my job. I always go to the one in San Leandro but now i work in newark so i decided to order from this location and i have to say that i was dissapointed, my burrito didn’t taste as good as it taste when i go to san leandro. I dont think i will ever order something from this place again i rather go somewhere else.

We were told before we even came that the Paseo Padre location is much better than then Thornton one. But because the Thornton location is much closer, we came here anyway. I started out with the white rice drink which was okay, and the free nacho chips was amazing(!!!) but the mains that we paid for was terrible. I ordered the chili verde(with pork) and it was tasteless and bland. I took a bite of my bf’s super burrito hoping it would be better but it was much worse! the meat was completely bland! The service was okay — not much to say about it. It wasn’t friendly but it wasn’t rude. I dont recall having gone to the other location before(I might have) but i definitely would not come back to this one.

Servicio, en es-pan-yo…was no bueno. I even told the waitress, «I’ll take a coke, but please make sure you keep um comin’ por-fa-please» If you see something that needs to be refilled, like chips, water, and what have ya, then don’t pass the table 6 times… yes I counted 6 times without at the very least a quick smile or something to acknowledge the table. Okay, I’m done bitchin’, wait one more thing… so I ordered a margarita & they said they don’t have tequila only wine margaritas… what in da sam-hell??? Boo boo, ummm that’s not a margarita. La Piñata Newark, you have not earned my continued business. #thanksbutnothanks

I was very disappointed with the food at this location in Newark. My enchiladas were small, the quesadilla appetizer cost $ 8.99 and there was barely any cheese in it, and the food was bland. I do not recommend coming to this location apposed to the La Piñata in Hayward and San Leando. I was really hungry and this place did NOT hit the spot. I will not go back. I would rather drive out of my way to the other locations.

I have to say I have been a big La Piñata fan from when we lived in Alameda. The food was always good and fresh and plenty of it. So, we decided to try the one in Newark. It is much smaller than some of the other La Piñata’s and they do not have a full bar just beer and wine. The food was top notch the salsa and chips excellent. It has more of a taqueria –restaurant feel to it. Nice booths and tables very clean and great wait staff. I had the Burrito Famoso and that is what I always get and it was the best I have ever had. I will make sure to be back real soon.

Clean establishment, the pictures and interior is nice. The food taste pretty ok nothing distinct about the flavor. The beef was a little dry and the juices caused my taco to get a little soggy. I would recommend this place to someone. The staff was nice & courteous. The food came out quickly.

Just not as good as they were and they raised the prices. Super burrito was full of rice with about four small morsels of pork. I sent it back and ended up with a totally different burrito that ha nearly no rice in it with some different kind of «pork» in it. Service was fine, everything else was below average from what I remember it to be.
