I ran in here and had a bean, rice and cheese burrito while staying in a local hotel for business. It was delicious and the service was quick and courteous.

Decided to give this place a try due to all the rave reviews, but it come up short in a few ways. My wife ordered the carne asada plate which comes with rice, beans & corn tortillas. I ordered two carne asada tacos with everything. To drink I wanted to order a jamaica and a horchata drink, but they were out of both. How can you be out right at 5:30pm the start of dinner? After we ordered, paid and sat down the nice lady brought us some chip and salsa. The chips were nothing special and the salsa seamed rather old and almost store type. When we received or food the first thing we noticed was that the carne asada was tasteless and tough to chew. It almost seemed that it was not seasoned at all. It tasted like plain meat. The beans, rice and tortillas were ok, but the portions were on the small side. My last gripe about this place is that it was a hot day and they did not have the a/c on and this place was very warm inside. I could not wait to finish and get out due to how warm it was inside. Next time I am craving some carne asada tacos I will hit up my favorite taco truck instead.

We love their Carne asada tacos. Overflowing with meat. I tried the cheese enchilada plate and it was lunch and dinner. Great customer service. Clean dining room. They can’t hide a dirty kitchen because it’s open for you to see. They have bottled cokes and beer in a cooler. They have a tv, lotto, and scratchers. Fun to play while you wait.

Went there for lunch today. Ordered the chicken super burrito. Hardly any chicken in my super chicken. Mostly rice.

Picked up two carnitas super burritos to go. I really enjoyed mine, even though it seemed a tad pricey. However, the atmosphere of the restaurant is very charming, and the food tastes good. I will be back.

Hole in the wall joints are my favorites! This place is almost in the middle of nowhere! But like a diamond in the rough, it’s some muy delicioso Mexican food. My super burrito con pollo was made fresh! You can see the lady cooking/preparing the burrito. Overall good size burrito which didn’t left me feeling like a sack of potatoes sitting in my stomach. The burrito joint is set up within the a mini market for local groceries.

Great taqueria in Newark. I had the enchilada plate and everything was fresh and authentic. The lady at the counter was very friendly. I think they do catering, so I’m sure they do a good job.

First time here. I had 2 al pastor super tacos. Theyre decently priced at $ 2.99 each. They are huge!!! A lot of meat and toppings. After 1 bite I was sold! This place is legit. I felt like I was back in Rosarito, Baja CA. To top it off they sell beer. This place is a go to for sure!!! Try it!!!

If you are craving Mexican food, this is the place to go. Although it doesn’t look like you’re typical taco bell or chipotle restaurant inside, this place shits on both of them. I didn’t even like Mexican food until I came here with my boyfriend. I really like that they give us free salsa and chips! Along with that their super taco and super burritos are the best I’ve ever had. Their food in general tastes authentic and not processed just the way I like it. :)

The food was amazing! Low key and clean. Going back for sure. I had the carne asada burrito at the recommendation of the counter server. She was right and it was so good. Will go back at the next opportunity. Beer cooler on the right — just grab what you want.

This owner run taqueria is awesome. Owners are very friendly. Hired them for about 4 large catering jobs. Always exceeds expectations. What is also good is they are experienced in small to large catering jobs with the deliver trucks, remote cooking setup, serving dishes, and friendly service to my guests/clients. highly recommend. Thanks, Don

Super good hole in the wall Mexican place in Newark. The food is delicious and so flavorful. I got the Carne Asada plate w/black beans and was not disappointed. The service is pretty quick and the workers are always so friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to check out.

Rafa and Janice treat you like family. Great food and great customer service. I would always get the super tacos but once they told me about the taco salad I have been sold on it for months now. Talk to them about there cater service too! I hired them for a couple of parties and the food and presentation were delightful! Thxs –Chester

I was clearly missing out. The super chicken burrito was killer. Awesomely spiced chicken and loaded with the fixings. No shortage of avocado either! Love that they served it with just the right amount of fresh tortilla chips and salsa. For approximately $ 7, the price was on point and made for a perfect dinner. P. S. If you want a little heat, ask for their hot sauce. I didn’t think it had much of a kick… but just wait for it. It’s a creeper!

A surprise small Mexican restaurant in Newark. From the outside, it does not look busy but inside, there are a lot of people ordering or picking up take outs and while we dined in, the place became packed easily once noon hit. The place is hard to explain. It has a small amount of groceries to the side. There are refrigs of drinks and alcohol and on the other there is a small freezer for ice creams. The place has a few bench tables and a few loose dining tables. The folks coming here look like regulars. A couple of oldies were hanging out, too so you know this is their regular spot. They had a lot to select from and the best were the prices. The food came out pretty fast and it was the lady behind the counter. She is pretty cool. They use Squareup as their payment tool so if you have an account with them, your receipt will be emailed to you. I ordered their chicken enchilada combo. If you check in on Unilocal and order a combo, you get a free soda. I was able to pick a canned Coke soda. Yea! My plate was very good and finished quickly! I will have to try their tacos and quesadillas next time as what my friends ordered. It looked really good. Tacos are filled with ingredients and the quesadilla portion is huge! I will be back for more. Thanks to a friend for referring me! ;-)

Two years ago I was introduced to chilaquiles in East L.A. Returning home I couldn’t find them. La Huasteca is a quaint gem in Old Newark. I’ve passed it so many times but had never stopped in. I’m told it’s owned by a renowned chef. Friends brought us here one day and I was so excited to find my favorite breakfast on the menu. I ordered mine in red sauce with chorizo. I asked for it extra hot. It’s served with refried beans. Chips and salsa were provided while we waited. Their salsa is one of the best I’ve ever had and I’m pretty picky. It’s flavorful with just a little smoke, tang, followed by a quick burn. Food is cooked to order so it took about 15 minutes. It’s well worth the wait. My food was so hot it cleared my sinuses. The burn hurt so good. It was served with a bottle of their own sauce. Beware! It’s good but it’s hotter than even I can tolerate. The others ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce and chicken. Their super tacos are no joke. They’re huge. Their al pastor, carne asada, and carnitas are all so amazing. Their shrimp enchiladas are beyond words. They have a wide selection of drinks and a small amount of groceries. Their staff is always friendly. The restaurant is clean. They have a TV. Noise is average.

Oh, I dread the day this place becomes packed with people, my opinion means nothing, seriously. On my continuous hunt for the perfect tacos al pastor, I may have struck gold. I dream of these tacos, and very reluctant to share this with anyone. I haven’t strayed away from trying anything else, well … I did give the chicken torta a try, which was very good … then went back to my usual. I’m like a moth to a flame here, I keep going back … I have discussions with my husband about trying new places and my response is always the same. «Why?» We have become regular fixtures here, so much so where one day I came in – and the girl who takes our order just looked at me with a big grin and said, «We’ve been waiting for you.» This place has all the trappings of an awesome taco spot, totally unassuming, small, doubles as a grocery spot, and a place to get your hands dirty with some scratchers. That is, if you’re not spending your spare time working a 12-Step at Gamblers Anonymous.

La Huasteca is our local favorite place to get some grub. Rafael and his wife, Janice, are super friendly and always make us feel at home there. My favorite thing to order is the al pastor burrito. There is something about the crunchiness of the meat and sweetness of the onion that I just love! However, I have to add, that I generally like everything they make! We have ordered catering trays from there and Rafael even catered my high school reunion which was delicious! I highly recommend giving it a try!
