Why do airport food vendors feel as though they get to suck so bad? The food is bad the bread is stale the drinks overpriced.

I had a wonderful experience here today. My husband and I got a couple of sandwiches and proceeded to our gate to eat, when I realized the pastrami sandwich I had ordered was a bit spicy due to some spicy mustard in it. I’m extra picky due to being a few months pregnant, so I decided to go back and ask if they might be willing to make me another sandwich instead. As I shyly walked up to the cashier with my sandwich to ask, another employee named Robinson approached me from the side and eagerly asked, what’s wrong ma’am? Can I help you? So I explained the situation and without hesitation he grabbed my sandwich and started towards the back, meanwhile asking me what I wanted instead. I ended up changing my order and he quickly made it for me and brought it out with a smile. It was so delicious, and I was so grateful for someone who went out of his way to demonstrate true customer service. I highly recommend this place. Thank you guys so much.

I’m going out of the norm considering some of the other reviews. I had a pleasant experience here that lasted less than 5 minutes for a flight from EWR to Denver. I ordered the Turkey and Swiss with trimmings and was satisfied 3 hours later into my flight. The sandwich with tax cost roughly $ 10.50(which isn’t horrible considering it’s Boars Head meat and at a Airport). I was pleasantly surprised with my purchase and will be returning on my next long visit from EWR. On the downside was the customer service. Not exactly informative staff and relatively rude even without a line or pressure to process sandwich in a fast manner.

Why such low ratings from previous reviews? Perhaps unpleasant experiences encountered elsewhere while at this airport clouded judgements. I’ve known about the Boar’s Head brand to provide good meats but this first try of there meats gave a great first hand impression of what the brand has to offer. Being airport food, i didn’t have high expectations to begin with. The pastrami brisket sandwich on multigrain that I ordered had lots of juicy meat, the bread with a nice thickness and lightly toasted. From this visit I have full confidence from ordering a decent sandwich here with quality meat when I come around next time!

I would never go back here. It took over 15 minutes for 2 sandwiches at 9:00 am. I ordered a plain ham & cheese sandwich for my son to take on a 4 hour flight. Of course I didnt open it until we were flying and it was the wrong sandwich, turkey with all the toppings! What a waste of money and time!

Poorly managed. Have visited twice and it has been a disaster. Slow service. When my sandwich was finished, instead of allowing me to take the sandwich and pay for it in centralized check out(terrible idea btw for travelers who are often towing a carry on, having to juggle food and conduct self check out is a headache) check out and then come back to boar’s head with my receipt in order to receive my sandwich. Stupid. So I have to wait in line to order. Wait in a different line to pay. Wait in line to get my sandwich. Could you make this process more miserable? Yet I was allowed to take my food from other kiosks before checking out, like Lobster Pod.

Poor customer service, workers chat amongst themselves taking way too long to deliver a sandwich. They ran out of many items and don’t properly handle the food. They wear gloves but touch your food then their hair and other unclean surfaces. Plenty of other options for food.

Overpriced for what it is, but it is in the airport so that is expected. The sandwich was not very good, meat on one end, sourkraut on the other end and dressing unevenly spread as well. Don’t waste your money.

Pay system is completely whacked. The people ‘working’ /‘helping’ act as if you should know the procedure and don’t let you know how your supposed to pay. They wait till you get so confused then either speak loudly to direct you to the pay terminals in such a way you feel like your being yelled at. It took longer to get an orange juice than it did to get a sandwich. It’s no surprise that the Ipad experience is awful. If I were apple — I think I would demand that Newark Airport stops using Ipads altogether — it’s giving Ipad a bad name.

Me: Can I get a toasted English Muffin with butter? Woman Working Counter: Please order on the iPad, sir. Me: There’s no option for this on the iPad. Woman Working Counter: Then we can’t do it. Me: But you sell English Muffins and other buttered items. Woman Working Counter: If you can’t order it on the iPad, we can’t make it. Me: [walks away] Worst. System. Ever. The OTG corporation has managed to make the airport experience far more horrible than it used to be.

Just had a great oven gold turkey sandwich. It was made fresh with great bread lettuce and tomato. The service was fast and the staff were professional. This was the best food I have had at an airport in a long time.

Flight was 730am, I arrived at the Arabica/Boar’s Head stand at 545. My sandwich was nice, hot, and quick. The woman helping me at the Boar’s head was excellent. There were 3 women working the Arabica portion of the stand. The boars head portion I’d give a 5* review. The service and attitude at the Arabica portion were SOOOOOAPPALLING, they have reduced this review to the 1* I have given it.

It took 20 minutes to get my sandwich. I’d rate less than a whole star if I could. I’ll walk you through the completely inefficient setup this place has. There are 4 iPads to place your order, but they’re so close together only 2 people with their carry one, purses etc. can really use the iPads. They have a very extensive list of ingredients, and the menu can be a bit challenging because it’s all new to you. Because there’s only 2 iPads available, a line starts forming behind you very quickly, so you feel rushed trying to navigate the menu. Once you placed your order, you move over to pay. There’s only one cashier, so a line forms quickly there. She’s also the only person getting the food from the back, so it tends to pile up in the window while she cashes people out. The cashier tried her best, but it was just too much. After waiting about 15 minutes, I asked about my sandwich, it had come out but was wrong. I don’t understand how the order could have been wrong if it’s typed into a computer. I finally got my sandwich 5 minutes later. Newark has adopted iPads in place of actual waiters because I guess the company that runs the fun courts are too cheap to pay people. What really pissed me off was that there were 4 managers or supervisors just standing around. I’m definitely not eating here again, and I’ll probably try to avoid Newark. I won’t leave without providing a recommendation. Klein’s Deli in San Francisco International Airport should be the reference point for all airport sandwich shops. Their sandwiches are outstanding and the service is great.

You don’t have too many food options in Terminal A. This is really the only sandwich place so you’re stuck with them if that’s what you’re in the mood for. I went with the Reuben. Just under $ 10 for a tiny little sandwich, without a drink. Though warm, the bread was burnt on one side and soggy on the other. How is that possible when the sandwich is pressed in a machine? Maybe it’s the machine that deserves 2 stars, but do yourself a favor and either go to the airport on a full stomach or else have very, very low expectations.

What can I say about the Boar’s Head café at terminal A in Newark which hasn’t already been said? If you’ve read any of the other reviews you know the service here is atrocious but the reality is in the morning there are no other options in the terminal really. Here’s a list of guidelines to help: 1. Do not expect any eye contact when they talk to you, they may be talking to you or the person behind you but they could care less whether you are satisfied with their service 2. If you’re running late, avoid hot sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches or coffee as these will add 10 minutes and aggregation to your travels. 3. Actually you will probably want to avoid breakfast food here entirely because the eggs are hard and more often cold. Don’t bother asking them to heat up your cold eggy sandwich unless you want a dirty look 4. Oh you’re going to regret that coffee even if you have time because you have to figure out where to stand to get it and it’s usually way too hot, give yourself another 10 minutes for it to cool down. You’ll also want to take the lid off because the coffee is so hot the cup becomes distorted and starts bleeding through the seems of the cup. So in other words, stick to Coke if you need you morning caffeine, beggars can’t be choosers… welcome to Newark!

Not the best sandwich, although reasonably priced-ordered a chipotle chicken with avocado– too spicy– minimal avocado and meat was from the ends of the roll. Sandwich was not cut in half– it may have been made earlier.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever had. I didn’t take it personal as the cashier was the same to everybody in line. Could certainly tell this girl did not like her job. Sandwich was mediocre at best and I am sure I will be tasting it the whole trip home. Stay away from this place.

I don’t expect much from airport food stops, but when I decided to get a sandwich before my 7 hour coast to coast flight, I got some of the worst service from anywhere. I asked for a Cuban sandwich, and made a point to 3 different employees that I did NOT want mayo or mustard. All 3 employees echoed back no mayo /mustard. Any guesses on what my sandwich got? Both, with so much in fact, when I opened the wrapper, the overflow dripped all over my new, grey and white shoes. I don’t expect a lot, if you make a mistake, even if you have to remake a sandwich… do it. Don’t pass it off to the customer and hope they won’t notice. In summary, 3 employees failed to do the right thing, my shoelaces have mustard stains and the sandwich is in the trash. Never again

I travel for work, so I’m at this food court A LOT. Hands down, these are the slowest deli employees ever. Their point of sale system is something that you would expect to improve the customer experience, but, since they consistently run out of the ingredients they need, you end up waiting 15 minutes for your order only to find out that they don’t have 3 of the 6 ingredients for your salad. And when you ask for our sandwich non toasted so you can make your flight, you wait 15 minutes. And when the sandwich FINALLY gets to you, you find out that it took so long because they had to wait to use the toaster for the sandwich you specifically asked to have cold. And if you decide to wait for another, they’ll probably take another 10 minutes and if you want a refund, good luck. The manager is also covering the other food stands, so that’ll take about 15. Come on, Boars Head. I’ve worked at a deli and made sandwiches. It’s not that hard.

Subpar sandwich. Good meat because it is boar’s head but that is about it. No flavor to their breads and no seasoning even when I asked for mayo along with oil and vinegar. They were painfully slow and forgot my coleslaw. I saw other frustrated costumers even a couple that demanded their money back. I got a pickle and it was huge but uncut so almost impossible to eat. Try somewhere else in terminal C. There are now better options.

They put mustard on everything even if you tell them not to. Gross. Staff is slow and incompetent. Boars head meat is usually good. No idea how fresh it is though.

This had to be one of the worst airport food experiences I have ever had! The food was meh, but the horrible service and attitude was simply awful! The service was non existent and they truly acted like they were doing me a favor! They never acknowledged me and I stood waiting to place an order for at least 7 – 10 minutes! I asked the lady at the register if I was standing in the right place(yes above me it said order here), and she shook her head«yes!» And to top it off, when I added a bottled water to my order, the lady at the register had the nerve to take a bottle of water out of a prepackaged case that was room temp! Are you kidding me? I just think whomever owns this place needs to train their employees on what customer service is or replace these employees with ones who actually care! I’d NEVER return after this horrible experience!

They really need to design a better process on their breakfast sandwich orders — especially for an airport location where time from order to ready actually matters. I was there for a morning flight and the line was long. I actually waited about 20+ mins for the food. It turned out that they were waiting to get a tray of breakfast sandwich orders taken(about 15 orders) before they put those breakfast sandwiches in the oven. I was among the first ones to order and had to wait until 20+ orders later before they even started to make my food(some people ordered regular sandwiches and those were filled right the way). Once they took all those breakfast sandwich orders from the oven, there was no sequence to wrapping them as they didn’t have a first-in-first-out system. The wrapping lady just randomly packaged them. As result, people who were there later got their sandwiches first. Also, there was a ton of errors where people’s specific orders were missed(or given away mistakenly to others). It was a mess and I was surrounded by a lot of pissed off people(including me). There were 3 – 4 workers behind the counter and none seemed to care nor responding to all the complaints and yelling from the customers. I actually let a follow customer had my sandwich because he needed to board his flight with last call while my flight was just starting to board. Never again to this deli and I will advise all to avoid this place.

As far as terminal food goes here at the delta terminal, this may be your best bet. That being said, I can’t give it more than two stars because the quality of the food is sub par. My breakfast sandwich had a premade egg and was just stuck in a microwave. Even though Dunkin probably does the same, their food is a heck of a lot better before security. Get food there and bring it in for breakfast!

This may have been the worst airport food experience I have ever had and I have had a few. I have been here before and had less than average experiences, but this one was by far the worst. I first watched the counter person make a woman take one step to the right until she was directly under the order here sign before she would take her order. There was no rhyme or reason to the orders and the register just kept jamming people through even though the prep people were obviously overwhelmed. After a lengthy wait, I received my sandwich. $ 6 for a cold plain bagel, 1 piece of Taylor ham, and a cold(not heated thoroughly) preformed egg patty. I recognize that this is 1 of only 2 food options in the terminal of a major airport and that Currito does not open until 6, but do yourself a favor and stick to prepackaged items(like a bag of chips), eat before you enter the terminal, or just stay hungry.

This is probably the best eating option in the Southwest Airlines terminal of the Newark Airport. A sandwich costs about $ 10. I’d recommend if you had the time and were best prepared, and coming from New York, go get an authentic Deli Sandwich from NY and bring it in with you. Eating at the airport is always a tad more expensive and less valued for cost, portions and quality compared to other options. It’s usually simply convenient. The sandwich was and is good, so it’s functional and serves it’s purpose of filling an appetite well. The service was nice and friendly, so no issues there.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I HATE Terminal A in Newark Airport. The food choices in the Gate 10 – 18 area absolutely suck and I really don’t think I’ve ever had an interaction with an employee in any part of Terminal A that actually WANTS to be there. Boar’s Head wasn’t any different. Look, I get it. Travelers at 7am are grumpy, tired, and probably a bit clueless, but that doesn’t mean you have to be the same way. You’re getting paid to serve US. Anyway, all I was hoping for was a decent sandwich to get me through my flight. Silly me, the breakfast sandwiches here are terrible. Why would I drive by the best place I know for a Taylor Ham, Egg, and Cheese on a bagel and instead choose to eat airport food? I don’t know, I’m an idiot? Seriously, pre made eggs that are warmed up and thrown on a roll or bagel or croissant… really? Just not good at all. Long line of people ordering then a whole lot of workers behind the counter just screaming out finished orders. Hey jackass, there are 75 people crammed into a space where there should be 20 and we ALL ordered breakfast sandwiches… when you scream out«bacon egg and cheese» and six people raise their hands of COURSE there’s gonna be confusion. Dumbass. Two stars only because I was starving and I got some food in me, but $ 32.40 for three sandwiches, four waters and some fruit felt like a mugging. I will not eat here again-crappy service, ridiculous prices, and food that just doesn’t cut it. Buy a bag of chips and just skip this place.
