This is unfortunately the best place for semi healthy food in this terminal, where I go regularly. I am vegan and they have a few salads, hummus, etc. For meat eaters the options are fairly healthy and fresh too. The main problem with this place is the checkout: always slow and no counter space. Also they don’t have baskets to carry stuff.

i’m being super generous for overpriced airport food but compared to other food places in the terminal… i guess balducci’s is ok. the sandwiches are good… pricey. the mango salad is good… pricey.

Awesome food options! There were plenty of things from breakfast sandwiches to subs, with lots of unique flavors. There’s a ton of snack options too, such as hard boiled eggs and pretzels with hummus. The Kobe beef and feta sandwich was delish! Very fresh and filling. Chugged about half of my grapefruit juice before realizing the best-by date was labelled the day before… but that’s just a suggestion, right? Not bad at all for airport food! I’d suggest another joint for coffee, though.

Everything looks fresh and good. Just ordered egg & cheese on English muffin — total waste of $ 6! It was over microwaved and hard as a rock. Couldn’t even bite into it — pitched it. Don’t be fooled by their display of yummy looking food!

As a mealtime alternative to the weird and overpriced airline snack boxes, I usually board a flight with a pre-made and wrapped sandwich in my laptop bag. The outcome is rarely satisfying, but is marginally preferable to starving. This week’s Newark to Chicago O’Hare trip succeeded on both ends in the sandwich department. I grabbed a chicken salad sandwich and bottle of water from Balducci’s, and must admit that it was delicious. Piled thickly in a fresh ciabatta roll was fresh and well-made white meat chicken salad; not fancy, but made very well. Without either vegetable fillers or excessive mayo, the sandwich was still moist and well-seasoned. Rarely said in the context of a pre-made airport sandwich, this was an enjoyable lunch.

Normally I have a rule not to eat in airports but I got delayed and this place looked pretty good. Great sandwiches.

It’s not saying much, but I think it’s the best thing in this terminal. Salads are fresh and good. Just stay away from the sub-par United lounges. Dark, dingy, crowded.

Wow! As a rule, I don’t eat in airports. Never been on the verge of starving to justify the cost for bleh food. This place goes against there whole statement. Amazing fresh, hot(or cold) sandwiches for a «reasonable“price. everything between $ 6-$ 9. And quality ingredients. They premade in the morning, keep in deli case and heat up(if you want) when you order. I got the New Yorker of Kobe corned beef and Kobe pastrami on kaiser w/brown mustard. Meat was sliced thin and piled at least inch high. That might not be NY standards, but exceeds airport. And $ 2 for a 16oz coffee seems like good deal.

Meh. Balducci’s, which is located in Terminal C at Newark Airport may offer healthier options vs. your typical fast food joint, but overall I wasn’t terribly impressed with the flavor(or lack thereof) of the breakfast sandwiches here, and felt this place was priced a bit high for what they offer. I arrived at this airport at around 9:30 am and wanted to get something light for breakfast. Though there’s a McDonalds available, I wanted to try and get something a bit more healthy than a highly processed egg McMuffin that’s loaded with chemicals. I saw this place and decided to stop. They basically have an entire display case full of pre-made sandwiches and salads that were assembled en masse here on location, then when you order one, they’ll heat it for you if necessary. I decided to try the egg/bacon/cheese English muffin, which in the display case was simply a cold, plain English muffin sliced in half and contained a pre-cooked round, formed egg(I think it may have been egg white only, as I never saw a yolk while eating it), with a slice of unmelted American cheese and a few strips of pre-cooked bacon. They heated it for me, and it came out very hot, with the cheese nicely melted. I also grabbed an OJ(their own name brand) to drink. Total cost was $ 11 — $ 6.29 for the sandwich, and $ 3.99 for the orange juice. The sandwich was bland and tasteless IMO and a bit of a disappointment. So was the OJ. On the side of the bottle it said«contains 100% fresh squeezed orange juice», and it did need to be shaken as some pulp had settled at the bottom, but the neither the taste of the OJ or the food was memorable, especially at that price point.

I stopped here for a sandwich in the morning. They have pre made sandwich ready to go. I had the cheese sandwich. It was amazing. Everything at the airport is a bit pricey. But, when you have no other option, it will have to do.

Pretty good sandwiches, they are premade but toasted to order.

According to the guy behind the counter, every single sandwich has some sort of dressing on it, and they are unable to make a sandwich to order. FAIL.

We were here for a lengthy layover and had a panini, a soup and an Illy’s cold coffee. Everything was really good and it was nice to find someone who carries a good coffee brand versus Starpuke’s. The panini’s are prepared in advance and only have to be pressed/heated and boxed up for you.

So, I usually don’t like airport food(greasy chain food), but Balducci’s is one of the shining stars for Newark airport! When I have to eat a meal here, I head for a warm, delicious sandwich from this spot(usually with mozzarella and prosciutto)…yum! Thanks for settling up shop here and providing delicious sustenance for weary travelers!

I travel for a living, so I’ve seen a few airport food establishments over the years. Just the other day my colleagues pointed Balducci’s out to me and suggested I grab lunch there. I rarely eat bread or pasta(unless an Italian lover is making it for me from scratch). Do you know how hard it is to find a bite to eat in an airport that doesn’t have bread? I love most of the things *in* all the sandwiches, but I just. can’t…(why do Americans eat SOMUCH bread, anyway?) Balducci’s has a bit of everything: fresh fruit, packaged specialty snacks, three types of hot soup, fresh deli sandwiches, those seemingly healthy, expensive, fancy bottled juices and several types of 7 oz. containers of delicious specialty ‘salads.’ Their Crunchy Vegetable Salad was DELICIOUS!(pardon me for yelling a bit there.) I had my eye on a chicken curry salad wrap, but I knew I would tear off and discard the tortilla. I asked the nice man that greeted me when I walked in if it would be possible to just have the chicken curry salad in a 7 oz. container instead of in the packaged wrap, and he cheerfully obliged. The employees there seemed kind, which is appreciated. My only complaint: Upon reading the list of ingredients in the chicken curry salad, I’m saddened to see that high fructose corn syrup is used, as well as an orange marmalade(yum! What a surprise!) that also contains high fructose corn syrup. Barducci’s, can you do better than this? My guess is that most of your customers care about keeping this ingredient out of their food. I don’t eat a lot, and I want what I do choose to eat to be of high quality in taste and nutrition. Balducci’s is the best option that I’ve ever come across inside an airport, and I’m so grateful for their EWR presence! Now grow! Expand to other major airports across the nation!

When you’ve just gotten off a 17 hour flight and have a few hours to kill before you can get your connecting flight, you’re probably looking for food. That is, right after you discretely remove your bra in the bathroom so you can breathe again. Don’t worry, your oversized hoodie will keep all your secrets. Trolling for substantial options at 5am isn’t ideal, but I hit the jackpot here. Vegan noodle bowls and dumplings! I actually had trouble choosing, which is always an excellent problem to have. I grabbed the spinach noodles and Sabra hummus snack pack, confident the two of them could keep me company on the way home. The check out girl was less than pleasant, but it was 5am. Everyone is less than pleasant at 5am.

If you need something to buy before taking off, and you don’t really much care about the price, this is the place to go. Everything is in my opinion expensive but like everything else in the airport. As far as the sandwiches, they have a wide selection although they don’t make them in front of you, so if you don’t like something in their combination… that’s your problem…

Impressive to find a Balducci’s at the Newark, NJ Airport. I guess some people in New Jersey do have taste buds. Just not the«Housewives». Had a delicious Mojito Quinoa Salad with lime vinegarette, raisins, mung beans, crunchy cucumbers and coconut plus a small tasty bar of imported dark chocolate. The deli has breakfast and lunch sandwiches, drinks, desserts and numerous vegan salads.

Im glad there’s a Balducci’s in Newark. I fly in and out of Newark as its more convenient to get to and from Manhattan especially during rush hour. This is more a sandwicheria than anything else and in true Balducci’s form, you can get superb grilled cheese sandwich, macrobiotic food(new trend), cold macro Soba & dipping sauce to classic Italian panini and really good home-grown sodas. I discovered Balducci’s in college in NYC and it’s really nice to have a satellite place at the airport. Yay for Newark. I’m super super glad this is here, it’s a great meal to take on the plane. For $ 8 a sandwich, its way way better than what you can buy on the plane, and sometimes better than the meal an airline would serve in First/Business. Visits: 5+
