Was there at around 1330 hours and there wasn’t a lot of food out. It’s like they didn’t care about the people who were coming in after the«lunch hour». Staff wasn’t really friendly or attentive. The hand sanitizer was empty near the buffet. They do offer a nice spread of dessert. Prob would NOT go back. Also a little pricey $ 8.99 for lunch.

Very good for a Chinese buffet. We tried it tonight based upon the Unilocal reviews. Food was tasty, plentiful, and lots of choices. I think that the quality was good for the price they charge. I won’t say it was the finest quality, but good value. Very tasty. Service was very good. We would go again.

Delicious food and great atmosphere. Waitstaff could use some work, as we always get the shy and timid ones.

Great food selection and a great price. I have gone with my boyfriend twice now and we will be back again soon. The coconut shrimp, fried wontons, snow crab, and desert section are all on point and keep us coming back. Went today for lunch and it was a great deal at 8.99 will go again this week!

First time at Royal and was very impressed with the décor, bar, food, cleanliness and staff, although the restroom could have been alot cleaner. Due to the Labor Day holiday the price is 11.99 for adults but still worth it. Regularly, lunch is 8.99 which is a steal for what they offer. The dessert selection is tremendous. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed. .I will be back…

Food was excellent and well prepared. The sushi was delicious, fresh, nicely crafted– something expected with sushi. The food off the grill was equally delicious with spicy being a factor in adding to the barbecued chicken experience. I also loved the fact that they have different cakes as part of their desert selection. The only thing is that their icecream was all soft due to melting. Nice atmosphere with a rustic look to the place. Overall a cute, delicious-with a decent selection of food– buffet.

This has always been my family’s favorite buffet. We prefer it over the ones in Danbury, and come here often. It’s been however a string of bad experiences and I think I will not be returning. Last night went to dinner with just my boyfriend… food was pretty cold on the buffet line around 6:30pm and there was hardly anything there. Waited out the first round and went back up to find even more empty trays. Decided to skip and have dessert and even the ice cream was a bad experience, soft and mushy and labeled incorrectly. On top of it the waitress never came by to offer refill on our empty glasses, even when she picked up plates or dropped off the bill. This follows quite a few other bad experiences with little food to choose from and bad service. For $ 40 I could have gone to quite a few other places, and I am disappointed to have wasted my evening here.

This is my favorite buffet restaurant with quite a few stations. It’s my go to place for seafood. They have it all: sushi, clams, mussels, squid, shrimp, salmon, snow crab and prepared in a variety of ways. I rarely eat the standard Chinese fare because of all of the yummy seafood varieties. Come with a huge appetite because you’ll want to sample everything. The mixed drinks are great, too, and reasonably priced.

I tried a little bit of everything and I must say what impressed me most was the crab rangoons. Everyone at my table got some with every trip up. They are smaller than other restaurants but the outside is crispier and less like a pastry so it was very good, especially dipped in sweet and sour sauce. They have a full bar and beers where relatively cheap. All the food was what you’d expect of a buffet but better. They have such a large selection of seafood, I tried a crab cake which had a lot of flavor as well as a lot of crab. I liked their pot stickers but the fried dumplings were better. All the hot food sections were hot and the cold food sections were alright. My only complaint would be the ice cream was very soft and the labels weren’t always over the correct food so sometimes I was guessing at what I was eating.

Was pretty cheap for a sunday brunch china buffett. The sushi looked to be avoided, yet the rolls looked ok. The rest of the american chinese food was decent for this genre of food. Wife liked the dessert cake selections and the ice cream, the fruit was ok as well. You cant ask for much more with the price. Would have given it 4.5 stars if I could.

Higher quality food than your average Chinese buffet. Mixed drinks are strong and delicious. Some food items are still greasy, which you might expect, but generally fresh and hot with frequent tray changeover from the kitchen. Staff is quick and friendly. As a rule, I don’t eat buffet sushi, but honestly it looked pretty good too. This place is worth a try.

I was not expecting the kind of home run you get when visiting any of our great cities’ Chinatowns. I know I’m 2+ hours from NYC and don’t hold eateries here to those standards — but I feel really badly for the folks of this western connecticut town. Maybe they’ve never had good(American-)Chinese food. Maybe they grew up eating La Choy. or maybe we just hit on a bad night — but whatever the cause, this was far from any place I’ve felt deserved a 4 star Unilocal average. What are these people smoking? We had a to-go order of standard dishes. How hard could it be? We had a choice of creating our to go offer from the buffet or ordering a la carte. We chose the latter. Overall, the food was just ok. The wonton soup was mediocre at best — overly starchy, gummy wontons in a broth that was plenty salty but otherwise pretty flavorless. Orange chicken(with broccoli) was passable, beef(with broccoli) was sinewy and sub par. I can’t comment on the lo mein we ordered since we got fried rice instead — and it was only meh. Buddha’s Delight(with broccoli) was the only redeeming dish and even it had — yep — broccoli. I’m not complaining — I love broccoli, I really do. But every single dish? There are other vegetables — yet every one of the 6 or so dishes we tried had an abundance of broccoli — and little else. And psst — there are seasonings beyond salt. I won’t be back because this is not an area I frequent much at all — but even if I did return to the area, it would not include a stop here. sorry, royal.

One of my favorite Chinese Buffets in the state. Great selection of Chinese favorites, staff is very friendly, and the place is clean.

This place is way above your average Chinese buffet restaurant. For one thing, the price is extremely good(under $ 10). Aside from the standard salad bar, soups, dumplings, chinese take out items, pizza, fried chickens, this place has a great selection of sushi, as well as crawfish, ice cream, and an assorted selection of cakes. Definitely one of the best values for your money.

Let’s just say… I came in here a little drunk. So what happens when I drink for about half the day, in celebration of my friend’s baby, and then my friend decides to go eat buffet for dinner? We hit the Oyster’s, Crawfish, Sushi, and all the other options that are offered here. I’m from the south, so I know buffets. Even though I don’t like feeling stuffing my face to compensate for the buffet price, which wasn’t expensive, it goes through everyone’s mind. What do they have… Well, you have your standard american-chinese dishes, sushi, I believe they even have hibachi as well.(Excuse the lack of memory as the intoxication was pretty heavy) They have a very large assortment of seafood though, which is very unexpected in the south at least where I am. There were all you can Oysters, which is very rare. The sushi was good especially since they don’t skimp out on the fish part in the salmon. Did it taste good? Surprisingly, yes. At least at the time it tasted good, but I believe my taste buds aren’t usually altered if I drank a lot. Most buffets, aren’t that great. And I have to say that if I were to come back to CT,(which I have that trip planned probably next year) this might be a spot to visit during the trip.

What can I say about Buffets… Yum! I’m a fan because for a buffet they sure know how to please. Came here for lunch on the weekend and was not disappointed. Royal sure treats you well. Sushi, Stuffed mushrooms, clams, classic Chinese dishes and Sushi. I was left full, happy and satisfied. I loaded myself with sushi, sushi and more sushi. I’m happy and content. Nothing more to say :)

I stuck with the sushi tonight. It’s what I was in the mood for. The presentation was better than I expected for a buffet. I was hesitant to try the sushi buffet(I had been here in the past & thought«eh» for the regular buffet) but I was hungry & so was my friend. I tried so many different sushi items I lost count. I made it through 2 trips up to the buffet before I couldn’t eat anymore. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality & price point. Ok, I’ll be back for more.

This is a good buffet, it has the typical Chinese buffet food with some American dishes as well. I stuck to the sushi as that is what I was in the mood for. It was decent, in fact I was pleasantly surprised as I have very low expectations for buffets. I would definitely come here again. The servers cleared the plates effectively.
