I ate dinner with my family here tonight and our entrees were awful as well as the service. I was looking forward to a nice dinner with family, will not return.

I have been here a ton times. Always had great service and food. I can typically ignore a one time bad experience, unfortunate I can not this time. Went to dinner this past Saturday at 6:45PM. Seated quickly and was given water and bread. The place was pretty empty but they had lots of staff on hand. 45 minutes later numerous staff have walked by and ignored us. The bar is completely empty and most of the staff is chatting at the back of the bar. We decided to just leave. I was pretty sad because I loved this place and recommend it on a weekly basis. I mentioned to the hostess on the way out that no one served us. She was surprised and we just left. I posted a comment regarding our experience to their Facebook page. I received no comment but they did delete what I wrote. Not the best customer service or way to keep a customer. Best of luck.

American Kitchen encompasses a phenomenal atmosphere and superior New American Cuisine in a beautiful rugged wood interior and spacious layout. The bar itself is presented in the back center of the restaurant and is easily accessible. The floor layout is spacious and comfortable. Upon one of my first encounters at this location I met Heather who I later had come to find out is the manager there. She did an excellent job of giving me a thorough understanding of each menu selection I inquired on. She gave me an articulate rundown of her favorites on the menu and made some excellent recommendations. Some of those recommendations included the following. For an appetizer, I had the fried Brussel sprouts. They were cooked with a fine crunchy crisp and yet tender enough to chew. My entrée, I had the Icelandic Cod. I especially enjoyed the Lemon Cilantro flavor that the Cod had from the broth and a good piece of fish! My Cod was paired with a glass of Green Truck Organic Chardonnay for a delicious palate enhancer. And the fact that their selection of wines included Organic options at fair pricing was just as enthralling. In all, I left with a full stomach and a satisfying experience at The American Kitchen! I will definitely return to this establishment for dinner and drinks anytime I am in the area! Pros: Excellent Food, Excellent Service, Great Wine & Drink Selection, Intelligent and Knowledgeable Staff! Cons: Needs a bigger parking lot, poor visibility from the street.

I had Mother’s Day brunch with my family at American Kitchen, and I left feeling extremely disappointed. I wanted to like American Kitchen — I really did! However the food just wasn’t good. My French toast tasted like burnt wonder bread with almond slices put on top(literally bread not French toast), my eggs Benedict was cold and the English muffin was not even toasted(fresh from the plastic sleeve it came in). I give this two stars because the service was on point. In conclusion the food is awful, it’s a beautiful restaurant and the service is great.

My wife and I stopped in for a quick lunch. She ordered the pork chop with asparagus(substitution) and I ordered the all meat chili with a house salad. Everything was perfect. Pork chop was perfect medium, chili had good spice but not hot and salad was perfectly dressed. When in new Milford again we will definitely stop here.

I like this restaurant. They were amazing for the first 6 months they were open, but I have had a couple of hiccups the last few times I’ve gone. I can’t give it 5 stars because I can only eat one thing on the menu and I have to customize it, so that puts a damper on things, but my family loves their food. I wish they had more health-friendly options. Their beer selection is great, and I love that they offer a beer flight for those of us who like to dabble a little bit here and there. All in all, a good restaurant — decent selection if you’re an omnivore. Recommended!

I am writing this so everyone know what he is gonna get. Omg exetremly expensive for no reason. Busy for no reason. Busy bar for too many people around it and they just hang out. Good looking place, but i prefer to back back to my fav restaurant in new milford(johns best) and(break house) service is so bad. It took 40 min to get my appetizer and another 30 min for my sandwich. Never go again.

Had dinner yesterday at the American kitchen, new menu looks great! They have a lot of new dishes, I ordered the Asiago chicken, very good! My date ordered a steak which he loved. Service was on point even though the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night! Our server Tyler was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The beer sampler is great, we were able to try a bunch of the craft beers they have on tap. I will definitely be back!

Had a terrible experience a few months ago and having worked in restaurant business I know there can be «off» days or reasons for a slow kitchen, so we never made a complaint, just decided we wouldn’t return. The service was awful, it was not a busy lunch but it took much too long for our server to even acknowledge us. Once we finally flagged him down to please take our order, it took almost 90 minutes for our food to come out. When we asked after about 45 min to an hour into waiting, we were told by our waiter that he would go check on it and we didn’t see him again for another 15 – 20 minutes. Once the food did arrive, we were all pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it, however multiple guests had to ask for theirs to go before it even made it to the table because they had to get back to work. We decided we liked the food but probably wouldn’t return because of the awful service. A few weeks ago we decided to give it another shot, cut out the middle man and order for pickup. While eating our dinner at home, my mother bit down on something hard in her nachos and when she spit out the bite she found a metal nut that goes on the end of a metal bolt. She broke her back molar when she bit down. I immediately took pictures and called the restaurant. The manager I spoke with was helpful and apologetic and asked that I email the pictures to the owner who was not present at the restaurant. This manager offered to refund the amount of our dinner on a gift card but I politely declined, mentioning that this wasn’t our first issue with American Kitchen. She asked that I mention my experience a few months ago in the email to the owner. I also offered to drive back and bring in the nacho platter and the metal nut(which still had guacamole stuck in it) and she declined saying that the pictures would be enough. I heard nothing back for 24 hours and decided to email again to be sure I had the correct address. My mother ended up getting an email response from the owner who was wholly unapologetic, accusatory and snide in her remarks. I understand that because the food was off premise, it could be questionable that the metal nut wasn’t from the restaurant, but to automatically accuse a customer of lying and placing this in our own food is unacceptable. In a sue-happy culture, I do understand the restaurant protecting itself but the way this was done was poor to say the least. The owner handled this matter terribly and needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant and I will do all in my power to let people know what happened. If it had been handled differently by the owner, I would not feel the need to publicly shame this restaurant but because of her attitude and actions, I have no problem letting the public, health department and community know what type of business is being run here.

I have been here twice since it opened. The hours on the door say 12 am on Friday and Saturday, 11 pm weekdays. Now I’m not really one to complain about hours, however if I arrive at your bar at 10 pm with 3 other people and you kick us out at 10:30 on a Friday saying«the owner doesn’t like to stay open if we aren’t busy», then I will be upset. The four of us were able to order only one drink each before being asked to close out our checks with the bartender. I told myself I’d never go back, but I did. Only to be kicked out a little before 10 pm on a weekday. I never tried any food, nor would I because it’s overpriced.

Came for lunch. Great atmosphere. Decorated consistently with plenty of space. Ordered the chicken blt with truffle fries. IMO, Chicken BLT is a basic order that wouldn’t wow you, but can be messed up easily i.e. dry chicken, bread over-toasted. Not the case here. Enjoyed it very much so. Speaking on the truffle fries– while they don’t outmatch my favorite(Umami Burger), they are the best I’ve had in CT. Definitely calls for another visit. I know the place recently opened, but the service was pretty slow, as others have mentioned; especially with not many customers in the restaurant yet. Did not get a refill on my drink. Hopefully improved next time.

Pros: Nice décor. Cons: Caesar salad was bland. The croutons were simply soft white bread with no crunch. The chicken wings were plump, but somehow very dry. How is this possible? Wife said the meatloaf was mediocre. Probably a good place for a beer. Won’t be coming back.

What a pleasant surprise. The food that is, enjoyed the wide open bar and delicious apps; calamari, wings, nachos. And the entrees were all above par. The staff seemed to be «learning«. Was surprised to see it so slow on a Saturday night. Hope business picks up for them. They deserve it.

I came on a Monday evening, I was impressed with the modern look of the place. It was very different. I ordered cheddar Mac and cheese. It had a very very strong cheese flavor, stronger than cheddar I’ve had before. Not problem. But, The pasta was terribly over cooked, I personally would never have it again. I then ordered Cajun fries. My waitress told me she could not do that, which made me confused because they have Cajun chicken on their menu? I don’t understand how they couldn’t have used Cajun seasoning on the fries. The fries were good, but would have been 100x better if they took the extra effort to sprinkle seasoning on them. They were similar to red robins steak fries. Red robins may have been better. My mother ordered a burger, she told me it was nothing astounding, it was like a regular burger. She agreed it was much like red robin, but theirs was better. I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was really really looking forward to it. And it never came out. The waitress apologized and we left. I will not be returning. Over all, it seems as if it’s a dupe for Red Robin. Average food plus lots of disappointment. I will never be returning.

We liked décor and the prices. Food was good but took a long time. Good selection of beer on the menu but they didn’t have the ones I ordered — they did make up for it through really good service. This place would have gotten 4 stars if the kitchen had a better system. We will return. Quite sure they will sort out their opening hiccups.

We came on a Saturday around 7PM. Two hours later and $ 70 spent between three of us we finally left at 9PM. The hostess sat us quickly at a rather large booth and the menu is pretty simple which is what I love. It’s a one sided menu with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and soups. She told us our waiter would be right over– it took about 8 minutes to even see him. Drink orders– another ten minutes. Finally meal orders. My husband got the nachos, our friend got the super green salad and I had the Baja flatbread. No one told me the Baja was extremely spicy until it came over to our table after it was fully cooked. It was delicious– absolutely delicious. The super green salad had pears as their seasonal fruit. The waiter told us it was apples. However it was really good. The décor does not make any sense for the way the building is set up. It has a rustic industrial feel with a lot of exposed wood but then the booths have this colorful upholstery. I would come back but I don’t know how long it would take me.

Went there on a Saturday night and the place was dead. Took about 20 min to take my order. Ordered the fried ravioli for a appetizer — blah. No flavor and the sauce tasted like something u get at school hot lunch. The steak was ok but nothing to brag about. Probably the best part of the part of the meal was the mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese which I could of saved $ 46 and went to Big Y and purchased a box of instant mashed and Mac and cheese for $ 2. I’ll give them this nice try but u will definitely not make it with those prices in this town with the food they are currently. This was my first and last time at this place. This place would make a great location for a 5 Guys.

This place is good, but it has a problem. It is priced as a better restaurant, but the food is good but does not quite yet go over the top. Take as an example the flat breads: We tried one today and it was good, slightly too much salt, but good. The problem is for the same or slightly more I could have gotten a much better pizza — flatbread at another place. We also tried a steak sandwich, but for the same money I could have gotten an outstanding one at another location. As a whole the place is good, but the dishes we tried can be found some place else done better. The steak sandwich was good, but the sauce needed work: more of it first and the horseradish amount might need to be adjusted. So they really need to up their game or reduce prices. Again the food was not bad in fact it was good, but they want to fit into a top tier position so they need a better balance.

I came in here for happy hour, and being a fan of calamari, I tried that. The calamari itself was great, but the breading tasted like salt and flour, and I can name two flavors missing from the garlic Cajun remoulade. But, the real insult came with the check. One small appetizer and two beers during happy hour came to $ 27. For a tab like that, I’d expect to have a date sitting next to me. I will say that the staff has been well-trained, knows the menu well(based on a conversation with another customer that I overheard), and is very attentive and on top of their game. The service was top-notch. The décor is generic, but inviting and clean. I’d only fire the chefs and whoever set the prices. If money grows in your backyard and you’re looking for a nice place to sit and nibble on styrofoam, then I suggest The American Kitchen wholeheartedly. As for me, I’m wondering who will be renting this space in twelve months.(Leasees in New Milford, how about an Indian restaurant?)
