A huge selection of just about every kind of pizza you can think of. Thin to moderate crust the best ingredients. Personal pizza for a great price

The pizza was amazingly fast. Now I know I should not have to wait for pizza if I can find my way to Tomato & Company. The staff was very nice, friendly and modest. They have a gelato station and it is yummy(the peach was very good). We took the pizza home and it was still nice and hot. Choosing your own toppings is terrific, I had a anchovy olive red onion and whole roasted garlic clove pizza. Also they have a choice of beer and wine. I would recommend this place and I would go back again(I am in fact looking forward to it even though my belly is almost bursting with one personal pizza). Did I mention that it’s just the fastest pizza you could ever want-less than 5 minutes from telling them what you want to having it in the box. Just as important, it was delicious.

This place is pretty good. Nothing to write home about, buy I do like their calzones. Pizza is also decent but for New Haven standards, it’s not top notch. I’ll still give them four stars.

The pizza is OK — nothing special. What was special was getting to watch them make it — they stopped that and now they rush you through the line and you cannot watch them make the pizza — which was relaxing for me. They also raised prices and made the pizzas smaller — NOTCOOL.

Don’t be confused. This place is about fast food, it’s not about pizza. While it was fresh, the food tasted much like a frozen pizza, although fresher toppings. It was fairly empty at ~7:15 pm and many of the tables were left uncleared. Personnel were friendly and attentive. Probably an ok place if compared to other fast food joints.

You know what New Haven needs? Another pizza restaurant! Uhhhhhhh. Okay. I find the whole idea of a fast casual pizza restaurant sort of amusing. I mean, isn’t all pizza made to order? It’s not like a sandwich, where if I want a custom sandwich from a restaurant it’s a huge pain in the ass. Pizza is pretty customizable. However, they will make you a personal pie for like 6 bucks which is pretty solid. Even if you only throw a couple toppings on there, it can be very reasonable for a quick bite. The pizzas themselves are… okay. Not the best pizza you’ll ever have. But not bad. Very much thin crust, sort of generic. But very affordable. As a pro tip, I’ll say that their salads are an awesome bang for their buck. I’ve had the goat cheese/walnut/cranberry salad and the Italian salad with salami, pastrami, etc. and they are both enormous amounts of salad and decent for the 6 bucks they charge. They have a pretty dope soda machine, too, but I once got a soda only to find out they were LITERALLYOUTOFEVERYSINGLEDIETSODA. You should warn me before you charge me that not only do you not have Diet Coke, but you don’t have Diet Orange or Diet Grape or any of the other options you almost have. Come onnnnnnn. And I’m too lazy to complain. But still. It’s not bad. Mostly giving points here for affordability and quickness and the people there are pretty nice, too.

A friend and I went in to grab a quick lunch during the week. We each had a salad, but it seemed like pizza is their main line of food. They explained that you pick your toppings that they add to the dough right then. It’s cooked in a special oven and is ready in two minutes. Another customer ordered a pizza behind us. It was ready in about two minutes and smelled and looked great. Our salads were made with fresh ingredients. They even heated the chicken that we each had added to our salads. Super friendly staff also. I will go back again for sure.

Popped in tonight for the Eggplant Parmigiana Bowl very tasty and I enjoyed it was my first time trying it never had toppings of a pizza in a bowl with the pizza dough. Great food, light mozzarella cheese next time watching my sodium intake. Stop by if in area.

It’s no Pepe’s, but it’s decent pizza for the price. My only complaint is how sanitary things are… I’ve seen people not wash their hands after smoking outside and handling money. It’s a little off putting, but sadly I still eat the pizza.

Really great pizza for the speed and freshness. Great ingredients and menu overall. Also the twirling oven and open pizza line is great for kids to watch! My son loves it. Really recommended for families!

Sorry, I wasn’t impressed. A burning log isn’t a wood fired oven. The pizza was cooked on the outside but tasted a bit uncooked on the inside. To make claims being better than Sally’s or Pepe’s is going a bit too far. If they didn’t make such radical claims I might have added another star. It’s like McDonald’s comparing themselves to Fuddruckers. Ease up a bit. It’s fast food pizza.

Reading the negative comments, all I can say is… It is what it is. Fast food pizza. And what it is is good. I loved my proscuitto crudo pizza(probably not for everybody). Not gourmet, but really good. I went around five o’clock, few customers and the counter people explained the concept very nicely. I was chowing down in mere minutes, I added a star just for that! Me and my buddy had foxon park birch beers. Maybe it’s a different experience when it’s crowded, but I loved it, even if I was disturbed by the clear plastic chairs.

Yay big corporate pizza has finally landed on the shores of New Haven. We’re not talking about Pizza Hut or Dominos. We’re talking about some new franchise that has plans to open locations in Hamden, Milford, Stamford, Greenwich, White Plains, and NYC yes NYC. Not only can these guys not spell the word tomato correctly but I think they might also have an identity crisis. What I mean is I can’t tell if they come from Italy because their menu says«chao». Or if they come from Germany because their word tomado uses a diacritical trema mark. Or if they come from Spain because I think the word tomado might be a Spanish word. Unfortunately with big corporate pizza comes big corporate marketing shpiel. And by shpiel I mean their wood fired claim. Wood fired pizza my ass. Oh sure I saw a few lit logs inside their oven but I also saw a big blue flamed gas burner hidden in the back. That explains why they only keep a few logs stacked against their back wall. A true wood fired oven place would have 4 or 5 times that amount of wood. Check out Brick Oven Pizza on Howe Street if you want to see how much wood is typically required to feed a wood oven. Another laughable claim is their«local fresh ingredients» claim. Maybe they do use local fresh ingredients but the last time I checked Grande Cheese Company manufactures its cheese in the state of Wisconsin. Why can’t this place use Liuzzi or Calabro mozzarella cheese if it really wants to stay true to its local fresh ingredients mantra? It’s probably the same reason they skimp on wood. Probably to cut corners? So how’s their pizza? It’s very dry, tomato sauce is too sweet, outer crust is too much(over 25%?), and it doesn’t taste very cooked IMO. It could probably benefit from some olive oil and salt. Yes olive oil. If you think olive oil doesn’t belong on pizza then you’ve probably never heard of Dominic DeMarco of DiFara Pizza fame and his nationally ranked pizzas. Red Tomado brags about how fast it takes to a cook a pizza in their oven. Big whoop de do. Most pizzas take only a few minutes to cook. That’s nothing to brag about. Oh and lastly, the back of their menu says something which made me really laugh. It says they«have a special dough room that holds dough at a consistent 72 degrees and a humidity that mimics Naples on a spring day.» My God I couldn’t make this stuff up even if I tried. Yup you gotta love big corporate marketing shpiel.

If you don’t want to queue up for Pepe’s or Sally’s, then I’d say come to Red Tomado. Red Tomado is certainly nowhere near the standards of Pepe’s or Sally’s — which are New Haven old faithfuls — but it definitely beats ordering Domino’s or any of the other local joints around. I try to abstain from Alpha Delta Pizza or Est Est Est, being in graduate school and all. The ingredients are extremely fresh, and my 12″ pizza(the veggie) came out piping hot and tasty for only $ 8.75. They also have an extensive soda fountain with all sorts of beverages like cherry vanilla AND vanilla Coke, in addition to serving the CT Foxon sodas, which are my favourite. My friends customised their own pizzas and were very pleased with the outcome. Popular choices included sausage, meatballs, arugula and prosciutto. We also ordered the burrata, which I would recommend for its creamy freshness that’s paired with arugula and cherry tomatoes in pesto. While the food is good, I give this place 4 stars because it did not blow my mind. If you are looking for a quick pizza fix, I would definitely recommend coming to Red Tomado for the affordability and speed. The staff are very friendly too.

Visited this pizza place twice ever since I heard from some Italians that they really enjoyed the pizza here. The price is extremely reasonable(you can basically get plain Tomato mozzarella pizza for $ 4.75) and the service is great. Staff are friendly. Pizza comes out fresh and hot, everything baked in front of you in under five minutes! Apparently their oven is at 1000 degrees! I absolutely love their signature vodka sauce and the basil pesto sauce. The flour is imported directly from Naples and so are some of their products. Looking forward to trying the other pizzas there now.

This is some really good, «Chipotle-style», fast-casual pizza. $ 5 – 10, depending on what toppings you choose, will get you a perfectly sized 12″ pizza. There’s a wide selection of specialty pizzas with genuine gourmet toppings, like freshly-sliced prosciutto, arugula, clams, fresh buffalo mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, eggplant, shrimp, and much more. I’m actually really tempted to try every pizza on their menu — they all look delicious. The pizzas are cooked in 2 minutes flat, which might turn some people off, but that actually is the authentic Neapolitan way — it yields a unique chewiness to the crust that is well-replicated at Red Tomado. This place is very clean, serves wine and beer with happy hour from 3−6pm, and even has a good selection of gelato. I was actually quite surprised that there weren’t more people here on a Saturday night at 7pm — there were only 5 – 6 people besides us. Given the relatively poor quality of the New Haven Chipotle, I’ll probably head here the next time I want something fast, cheap, and fresh. I certainly hope more people give this place a chance so they can stay in business.

I watched from afar as this place was constructed, and then it slipped off my radar when they opened. I finally had a chance to try them out the other day and… mind blown… A 12″ individual pizza with red sauce, mozz, fresh chopped garlic & chili flake for only $ 5? C’mon, how good can this pizza really be? THATGOOD. Ok, it’s just a step below the big boys, it’s not going toe-to-toe with Pepe’s, Sally’s, Modern or De Legna. But, it’s not trying to. They serve a niche. It’s a quick-service line and you’re in & out with your lunch in 5 minutes. Tell me another place where you could cobble together a different lunch option for 30 days in a row, have it come in under $ 6, and be in & out in 5 minutes… Red Tomado excels at what it does. Be sure to check their social media for crazy insane deals like ½ off the daily special. Some days it can bring the price of a pie down to $ 3… Will return, often…

First time here-Im all about the create your own places so already im happy. The ingredients are indeed fresh and the girl behind the counter was courteous and patiently explained their menu and options t me. I wound up going for a pizza from their menu rather than creating my own(the bronx). The pizza does indeed cook in less than 2 mins! I have to say it was the quickest lunch ive gotten in downtown new haven. I think next time ill ask for a few more mins in the oven but it was good. The sauce i feel like couldve been a little better– kind of tasted like it was just out of can of tomato sauce but the rest of the toppings and cheese were great. I plan on going back and trying the salads and gelato as well.

I’m tempted to give this place 4 stars – because how can a make-your-own pizza joint garner a perfect score? But for what Red Tomado is it’s basically the best it can be at it. You pick your own toppings down the line, or choose one from the menu. You can also get salads and small bites. It’s nothing super-revolutionary, but boy is it good. What makes it stand out… 1) bright and clean, modern atmosphere 2) beer on tap 3) a gelato wheel 4) really fresh ingredients The night I went my pizza was just delicious. I also had a Greek salad and it was honestly one of the freshest I’ve ever had; real crisp. I also got a local Two Roads beer on tap. The staff was also very nice which is appreciated. Side note: while we were eating a less fortunate(and fairly drunk) man came into the place. He graciously left with some free food.

Love it! Thanks for something new, different and delicious! You must try it!!! Just went by to try the Prosciutto and I loved it! 1 pizza was enough for 2 people, the servings were vert vast, the sauce was delicious, and the dough AMAZING!!! It was cook in only 90 seconds, yes totally cooked in a wood oven!!! My only recommendation is to have Deliver Service, it has a good location but with the winter coming, I’ll double think to dress up and walk in the snow instead of ordering another pizza.
