What happened to this place? I went in before Christmas, as is my wont, to get the normal store of blisters and chocolate-covered nuts, and it was as if the store was having a going out of business sale. The cases were largely empty of anything but chocolate-covered fruit and bits and pieces of other stuff IMHO too small to be selling. Definitely not up to their usual standards. Not to be picky, but a salesperson was also eating out of the nut tray, not something I like to necessarily see while shopping. Has the store been sold, or fallen on hard times? I hope not, because VNS has been one of the foodie jewels of the area for more years than I can count.(Remember when it was in downtown Harrisburg?) All I can say for this year is thank goodness for Zimmerman’s.

It was ok, great customer service, liked the chocolates, didn’t like the open containers and overall look of the shop– made it look somewhat unsanitary or something

The best place to get the crunchiest most tasty nuts and homemade chocolates. I get their unblanched unsalted almonds. They sit on my desk at all times as a healthy snack.

I grew up frequenting this place on Saturday’s when I was out with my grandparents. I fell in love from first fudge! The nuts were always so fresh and yummy. All of the treats were spectacular! And no matter how old I grew, I always came back to them as a faithful customer… including when they had their shop in downtown HBG! Besides the fantastic fare, the family’s ability to keep some old school charm even when modernizing the business has always brought a certain magic to every visit. I was also fortunate enough to attend the same college as one of their daughters! So I’ve gotten to know the family over the years and can say first hand that you should most definitely check out their shop and give them regular business :-)

This is a fantastic little shop, especially for gift ideas. They serve a large variety of high quality nuts and candies in various platters or by the bag. You can mail order them or just stop in, the prices are very reasonable. This is a family owned business and has been since it opened in 1959!
