Love this little hole in the wall on river rd with deck overlooking the Guadalupe. Never miss it if down that way. meat patties are large and hand formed! Good people watchn and great burger! Beer & wine too Check it out!

I’ve been several times to Lone Star Float House and have found it to be the best burger in Gruene I recently visited the float house this Memorial Day weekends to catch a bite to eat with some family. We pulled the car down to the water like normal but this time I was met by two aggressive staff trying to collect a $ 20 parking fee. I asked why this time I had to pay a parking fee considering I’ve been many times before and have never payed a dime. The woman snapped back and said it had always been that way and suggested I was always cheating them in the past. I then asked if parking on the road would be alright. She fired back claiming that would also be $ 20. Really? At this point I had determined this was getting to be a little ridiculous. Not only was I about to spend over $ 50 dollars in food on a place I had already spent hundreds before, but I was expected to pay a $ 20 fee on top of that. The other person eventually waived the fee and let me park for free which was the right thing to do at the time. Good place but NOT a nice welcome back. Geez.

Customer service is awful. Girl at counter very rude. Waited over 30 minutes to get tubes and able to start floating. Waited for burgers after float took too long and actually left to go eat somewhere else

Excellent. Burgers patties are not made from frozen. Which was a surprise to find a fresh burger at this stop along the river. Great atmosphere too. We had our dog with us and she was completely welcome.

A complete turd hole. Why am I on Unilocal right now? Ooh, maybe because it’s been 80 minutes for a damn burger and I still haven’t got my food yet. No matter how good this burger is, I would never wait this amount of time for food. No telling how much longer it will be, but I would not recommend eating hear unless you have a heck of a lot of time to kill. If it was possible to give a negative amount of stars I would. I have never waited this amount of time at any restaurant for any kind of food.
UPDATE: after waiting over an hour and a half for a burger we got our money back and left. Even that was an ordeal. The staff there was not even helpful with that. Multiple people were also up there experiencing the same crazy wait times and asking for their money back. SAVE YOUR TIME AND DON’T GO HERE!

This is THE spot to be on River Road on the Guadalupe River in the summer/​fall!!! Not only is it an awesome tube rental location, but they serve the most amazing «grill» food you have ever had. Their burgers are made with REAL meat! Their pulled pork sandwiches are delicious. Frito pie, nachos, BLT… oh my gosh I could go on and on! They even serve BREAKFAST! At some point, probably May or June, they have live music every Sunday. They call it Sunday Serenade, and some of the most amazing musicians come out and share their stories and music. It is one of my «must see/​must do/​must eat at» stops when I am in New Braunfels. It is also a place I tell all my friends to go to. Friendly people, friendly, casual atmosphere!!!

Best outfitter on River Rd. Friendly staff, awesome owner. The burgers are fantastic, the beers cold, the vistas undeniable, the vibe unbeatable.

Fun place to eat along the Guadalupe river.
The burger was a solid 3.75. However fries were a big disappointment. We also tried the Texas fries with cheese, jalapeños, and bacon. I think all ingredients were frozen (fries) or from a can (cheese, jalapeños) not sure what the bacon was. All too fake for my tastes.
The ambience was great, views of the river, great deck to sit on. We will definitely be back, and next time I’ll just stick to a burger.

We had a blast here. Burgers were pretty good. The ‘mayor’ was hilarious. Pretty good vibe for the river. Day-​trip tubing forever stop now. Can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this place before.

Last weekend Mick and I took the kiddos to the Lone Star Float House and Grill. Situated on the Guadalupe River, it is a great place to stop and eat after a day of tubing or for a lunch or dinner break from the fun in this river community. With table IN the water, you can’t go wrong.
The Good: Kid and dog friendly, the lady next to us named Magna, had her Jack Russel by her side. The ¼lb. Burgers are made from fresh beef, hand formed and are cooked but juicy. Our order was up quickly so we didn’t wait long which was good cause they were busy and we were starving. They don’t have fountain drinks. It’s canned beer, soda or bottled water.
The Bad: My 16 year old and Mick had the Bacon Cheeseburgers. What a disappointment to find only 2 measly strips of bacon, which really amounted to one whole piece cut in two. The napkins are super cheap. I will never understand why restaurants who serve messy food use cheap napkins. C’mon, we just end up using 3 times as many if they are thin and fall apart.
The Service: It’s counter service. You place your order, they call your name when your order is up. The girl was able to find us each a house Cozi for our beer which is an absolte necessity in TX. (Just one of the interesting things I have learned since moving here Aug 2012).
We will definately eat here again. It’s not anything spectacular but the food is good. Wish they included fries or something with the burger, it was a little over priced for just burgers without fries. But pretty decent.

Service was horrible! After waiting an hour, they kept serving at least 6 people that came AFTER us! I think they were just randomly pulling tickets to cook! How did 6 people who came 30 minutes after us get their orders before us??? Terrible!!! Finally after like an hour and 15 minutes, we got our food. Our friends who ordered their food directly before (we were standing in line together) got their food 20 minutes earlier. They had to wait for us to eat since they had been done!!!

Drove down lots of winding country roads at around 10 pm to get here, needless to say i was a bit apprehensive. But…
Absolutely loved the atmosphere, very family friendly, I saw dogs and little kids wandering around. I ate BBQ and drank ice tea on the porch over looking the river while a country singer charmed us all with his guitar and southern drawl. The food is excellent, all my companions cleaned their plates. It was a perfect place to spend a Texas summer night.
All the waitresssss were friendly and expect at least 45 minutes for your orders on a crowded night. A patron made a racial comment to a member of my group but the owner offered to kick the person out if we identify them (we didn’t bother, that type of people don’t deserve our attention). Im glad that they take their sign seriously «be nice or get out»!

The staff are extremley rude and I will not go back. Just visited Sunday evening August 5^th 2012… The little girl at the counter must hate her job… Look for a new one princess. keeping it simple she needs to learn how to communicate with adults with some respect.
she answered my questions like i was an idiot.
I visit the area quite often and look forward to new staff.
By the way had breakfast tacos earlier that morning and they were decent.

Loved it! Family friendly environment, all the food is affordable (on any budget). Cheap beer, good food, nice patio, lots of parking.
Burgers, brisket, and fish were all delicious!

Super casual place on the river where you can grab some beer and burger, rent a tube and hit the river for a day on the water.
We just came for lunch on the patio over looking the Guadalupe. Heard the burgers are awesome, but I went with the grilled chicken sandwich. Pretty good, nothing over the top. They don’t mess around with their nachos, you definitely get a pile! So grab you a bucket of (can) beers (they have lone start light!), sit back, and watch the river flow by. Wish I was there right now…

Someone do a rain dance or something though because the river is LOW.
Desipte the water level, the float house was excellent. Call Terry like the website says. He’s very willing to work with you and will return your phone calls.
The staff was completely helpful despite my questions and requests. They did everything with a smile too. The guys who took us on the trip were very nice and respectful. Good deals and the food did smell good.
Only negative is that they had a smaller vehicle and couldn’t support our large group in one car. They did quickly find another vehicle to transport us.
If it rains soon, I’ll be back. If it doesn’t, I’ll just sit in the water on the tube and get wasted on a rock.

Lone Star Float House & Grill offers up some great fun on the Guadalupe River. Not only do they offer some great cheap food they also offer tube rental trips ranging from 30 minutes to 6 hours. They have a dog friendly shuttle that drops you off at whatever point you want to start. They serve breakfast so you can grab a breakfast taco before your tubing or/​and have lunch or dinner when you float back.
We ate on the dog friendly deck but they also have booths set up closer to the river that serve burgers, dogs, fajitas, beer and sodas at 1.00 — 2.00 less than at the restaurant. Their menu offers breakfast, lunch and dinner at very low prices. I had the fried shrimp basket that included fries for 5.00 — both were delicious and crispy and not greasy. I do not remember the price of my friends burger but she raved over it. Olivia the 13 year old loved her 3.00 grilled cheese and made me taste it — yes it was good as were the side of tator tots!
We just did «The Chute» a fast flowing portion of the Guadalupe that you can walk back to and float as many times as you want. I look forward to doing a longer float.

2. If you bring a dog that is not familiar with tubing or kayaking get them a doggy life jacket as the water in this area is swift and keep them on leash.
