Super hard, thick, greasy chips are served with 3 different salsa options that aren’t great. Not impressed with the facility either. Chicken Fajitas were flavorful(buttery) and in small pieces.

Horrible terrible no good very bad. Every single facet of this establishment was terrible. I recommend to go a little further toward down town to El Tapatio instead.

This place was a dump. Food wasn’t good and the salsa was way to hot to enjoy, and I’m Mexican! Restrooms smelled like urine. Save your money.

If you want authentic, you’ve found the right place! I came in for their special green enchiladas with refried beans and rice for $ 6.75. It was super yummy and SPICY, just liked the food my momma cooked growing up. Their chips and salsa were awesome too! We got three different salsas to start with. Also ordered a large horchata for $ 1.85!

I usually go to a Mexican restaurant and order my usual: Chips & Queso. Cheese dip was bland. Tried friend’s refried beans from his entrée and they were just nasty. Salsa was a bit bland. Staff was great and friendly… they alone deserve the Stars from this review.

Dirty. Food was not worth over looking the dirtiness of the whole restaurant. From the bathrooms to the stuff in my glass and on my plate. Don’t think we will be returning!

They have the best salsa in town. I highly recommend their carnitas a la mexicana. Good customer service as well.

Just awful. From the chemical bathroom smell that hits you when you walk in to the most bland Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. We were so disappointed. How can you make ground beef for tacos with absolutely NO spices? The egg and cheese tacos… cooked with no salt or pepper! Absolutely terrible. The only redeeming thing here were the chips.

This is currently my favorite Mexican restaurant in New Braunfels. Ok, I’ve only been to less than a handful, so it’s not really saying much. However, I really enjoyed it. My only surprise was that more people weren’t there at lunch. The guys I ate with said that it used to be a dive until they remodeled recently. It seemed fine to me. The chips were seriously thick and crunchy. There were three different salsas. All were got to me, but I have no clue as to what the relative heat was. They were good, but I couldn’t stand the temperature. But I know I’m a light weight. I had the crunch taco lunch. It was CHEAP. I chose two beef and a chicken and was well pleased with them all. They had a great, unique taste like someone actually tried to season them. The beans and rice were standard, but I enjoyed them. I added on iced tea and I think the entire thing was less than $ 10. I’m going to have to try this place for dinner and drinks next time.

I would like to give the restaurant four stars but I felt that would be pushing it. The food is good which is most important. All at my table agreed on that. And at a great value. The service was friendly. The restaurant does not have a liquor license and so don’t expect a margarita with tequila. They call it a wine margarita. Wine is substituting for the tequila! I had one, and only one. I woudn’t recommend it. Stick to a Corona. The restaurant does lack in ambience. Flourescent lighting and no music. Dimmer lights and background Mexican music would go a long way in improving the experience.

Sat down and ordered 2 frozen margaritas that tasted so weak, I had to ask, half joking, is there any alcohol in these? The waitress looked at me with a blank stare, and said no… did you want alcohol in them? I was flabbergasted! She then said, go ahead and have these, they’re on the house. Um… no thanks, can I just have a margarita with alcohol, thanks. I’m sitting here stunned!

Excellent food! Visiting Texas from Florida and found this little place. Parking lot was empty so we were a little skeptical but took a chance anyway. It was amazing, best Mexican food we’ve ever had! Highly recommend

I struggled with this one… A Mexican restraunt with forgettable refried beans? Yea, that’s this place. Salsas with no flavor. Yup. This place again. Its only saving grace were, the pork in chipotle sause and one of the 3 salsa they had. The pork was tender and chopped into cubes and cooked in this flavorful chipotle sause. The plate came with the standard rice and beans, of which the rice was nothing spectacular and beans were truly bland. At this point, I am hoping I came on an off night as I had heard how good this place was, maybe the best in the town. Geez, if this was the best, I’d hate to see the worst.

Skip Mamacita’s and the other familiar Tex-Mex joints in NB, and come here! Basically, we were on our way to Mamacita’s and literally pulled a crazy U once we eyed this sketchy joint right off the main road. Sure, it’s questionable looking from the outside and appearances don’t improve much on the interior, but haven’t we all learned now that some of the worst looking taquerias have the best food? Thick, perfectly greasy tortilla chips hit the table immediately, complimented by two red salsas. The alcoholic beverage selection is a nice treat, and they serve a variety of aguas frescas if you’re in need of rehydration. I was most amazed at the plate of fixin’s for my brother’s al pastor tacos. Instead of the stingy sprinkling on the side of the plate, they brought out one plate dedicated entirely to the toppings. It was piled so high with onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and radishes that you would definitely need more tacos to use all the toppings. My chalupa plate was standard — the tostadas were definitely homemade, and I couldn’t finish the amount of food on my plate. Obviously, of utmost importance to me in any Mexican food joint is the tortilla situation. The flour torts are thin, not super fluffy, but really delicious. Soft, slightly chewy clouds of flour. I think there was only one server taking care of the entire dining room, so I never got the limonada that I asked for or a water refill, but it wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

We were getting ready to go for a little tube trip down the Comal river and showed up a bit too early(11am). Come to find out, the tubing place didn’t open until 12. So, we walked next door to Cancun Mexican Restaurant to indulge in a pre-tubing margarita. I didn’t order any food, but my friends seemed quite happy with their tacos. The food seemed very authentic interior Mexican food. I had a house«frozen» margarita. I have frozen in quotes because it wasn’t frozen. However, it was very strong, so definitely a good bang for your buck($ 3.50). The chips and salsa were great. The interior is outdated to put it mildly. We sat in a huge booth that was probably 40 years old. There was a scary door at the top of some stairs that had three deadbolts on it. Not sure what they’re storing up there that needs that many deadbolts, but we came up with some imaginative scenarios. Good stop after or before a day of tubing on the river.

I came here after a day of tubing. The place looks freaking sketchy and I wouldn’t have ever walked in here… but we were ultimately looking for a place to sober up, so there was no driving for any of us. I was surprised when I walked in, it was bright and open and the wait staff was very excited to see us! They were smiling and everything appeared to be clean and quite non-sketchy. Time to order some chips and queso! The chips were very strange– thick and oily. The queso was also strange. It was as if they just put regular cheese in a bowl and melted it. The longer it sat the harder it got. But it certainly didn’t taste bad, just a strange consistency. The salsa was yummy. I ordered the torta. I’ve never had a torta before so I can’t compare it to others, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I think it was $ 5 and filled with wonderfully seasoned pulled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and some type of sauce. It was a little too soggy, but I didn’t care. My friends seemed to be satisfied with their orders as well. The prices were very good, the wait staff was very attentive and helpful and the entire experience was lovely. Now they just need to make their sign out front a little happier and more colorful. Next time I go tubing I’ll be stoppin here again!
