Updating to a new review, so I noticed the original 2 guys who’ve been here over the years are not here anymore. I don’t know where they went, but I hope they’re doing well. The new guy in charge, I think his name is Rene? Really courteous and professional in his line of work. The shop now looks new with new banners and ads posted all over. I noticed they have a new lift in the back aside from the 3 spaces they have on their dugout bays. So far it was only 2 guys including Rene himself. They worked on 2 vehicles before attending to mine. Teamwork at its finest made their service fast and tedious.
I recently installed a new catback exhaust on my 04 STI but my flange was leaking. Rene welded an extension to my cat-​converter and gave me a new graphite gasket, new bolts, and on top — the good customer service. Literally customer service, it was humid as hell in national city and he offered myself and another customer bottled waters at no expense… Clean job, no more exhaust leak (and my gosh it was a big one!) Anyway I did only pay less than $ 90 for everything parts and labor. The estimate was worth job. The welds looked professional as if my catalytic converter came out the box like that. Thanks again Thunderbird, and it was nice to meet the new employees. Will return again for my exhaust needs.

A friend suggested that I come here to Thunderbird Muffler to get my Magnaflow Muffler & Tip installed… I liked it because they were open on Saturdays!
I arrived there right as they opened, no wait time they got my car in & out in about an hour. Joe the installer was down to earth and got the job done so I am pretty satisfied customer!
If I need anyother work done I will go back to these guys!

I’ve used Thunderbird starting with a ’68 Camaro 38 years ago. My Dad used them too. Both of us appreciate Nils and his team. Back again today, I got fast service and exactly what I needed to replace the muffler in my Jeep. Joe did the work. Nice guys to chat with and enjoyed my time there.

Did a great job of installing my muffler I brought them. Looks great and sounds awsome on my 2001 vw new beetle. It all took them 30 minutes to install and the price was reasonable. Would use them again.

The owner is a rip off, try to sell me a Cadillac converter and wanted to charge me $ 400.00+ tax when all I needed was to remount muffler pipe and weld do to air leak. I took it els where in Chula Vista and charge me $ 80.00 buck in and out and said that nothing was wrong with my Cadillac converter. I saved money and on my way. Will not come here again.

I needed a specific flushed o2 sensor plug (not the regular nut type plug) and after visiting several AutoZones, Pep Boyz and calling around to different muffler shops, nobody had it. I called T-​birds and they had the exact piece I was looking for!
What an amazing outcome! The owner was cool, hooked it up and sent me on my way!
They fabricated a nice wastegate flange for me back in the days so calling them first totally slipped my mind. I could have saved time and worthless trips by going to these guys first!

My buddy knows a guy whos knows another guy that has a distant cousin that works here that hopefully will hook me up with a muffler for my hooptie.
