Great for cards and candles, their seda france a little cheaper than elsewhere. some nice antique glasses and china for sale for spur of the moment gifts. Small gifts for children and various books and jewels for a bit of self indulgence.

A little pricey but they do have some beautiful stuff. I didn’t pick anything up this time but I could see that I might in the future for gifts. Not enough unique or vintage for my personal taste.

Looking for a unique gift, a high-end candle, a gift to impress? Go to this great little store in East Nashville! There’s always something new to see there. I think this is the only place in East Nashville to pick up a gorgeous greeting card that is NOT Hallmark or The like. The merchandise is very carefully selected. Do not go here if you are into mass produced gifts or ugly hand-crafted junk. This store is classy! Usually, there are a few antiques and some really fine jewelry pieces. Also, there are some good sales, at various times. I just love this store! Highly recommended.

I needed a sympathy card and was so happy to find a place near by(on Unilocal of course) that could accommodate me without the stress of parking and driving all over Nashville in the rain. I never noticed the store even though I passed it all the time. I enjoy supporting neighborhood businesses so it all worked out. I will keep this place in mind for any future gifts or cards.

Metropolis is basically a gift shop with expensive candles, perfume, fancy-looking magnetic journals, glass vases and martini glasses, coffee table books, cards with sarcastic jokes like«Could my hot flashes be causing global warming?» and pictures form the ‘50s on them, antique china, etc. The small kids section has unique party games an board games, and most of the merchandise in the store is stylized and modern. Personally, I wouldn’t shop at Metropolis. But I appreciated that the guy working there was friendly and had a cute dog keeping him company.

Oh, hi Metropolis. I wanted to review you for the site because I hadn’t been in to see you. I had a great lunch at I Dream of Weenie, then I got some ice cream from Pied Piper. I tried to walk all around the neighborhood to burn some of it off. I wandered down the street to your cute little building. It was around 2:15 in the afternoon. I went up to the door and pulled and you were locked! You were playing hard to get. I checked your hours that were posted. Hmmm. Friday afternoon at 2:15…you should be open. Oh, but then what did I espy? A cute little sign stuck to the window that said, «Back at 1:15.» Were you off sipping martinis somewhere without me? You bad girl, you. You must have had a few too many because I was there at 2:15 and you still weren’t open! I peeked in your windows and it looked like you had nice goodies inside to share. Shame on you for teasing me, Metropolis. I guess you just weren’t that in to me like I was into you. It might take me a few days to get over this one.

strange place. Tiny space is cluttered with really expensive but tacky stuff. I guess if you are hard up for a candle or scrolly journal, this place would fine for a last minute desperation gift, but how about the large glass sculpture of the woman’s head? Or all this awful glass jewelry? The man running this place is awkward and not friendly. Weird part is, this is the first retail establishment opened in an about-to-be gentrified block. As a pioneer, this place needs to be more of a destination, not just a bunch of random crap like some bad airport store.
