Good food when they actually pay attention and make it right. We got take out the other night. My husband got the Hana burrito and there was no sauce and no cheese. I ordered a taco salad and there was no shell in the box and it was so dripping wet it ruined the container. Pay more attention to take out orders

Awesome place for a few tacos and a margarita! Went there after a day at the beach and the casual environment and good food was exactly what we were looking for. We went during happy hour and their tacos, beers and margaritas were half off. My husband and I got two tacos each (we tried the fish, shrimp and chicken and liked them all!) and two margaritas for $ 22. Not bad for Maui. Their salsa bar is great and gave the tacos the perfect extra kick. Exactly what we were looking for and I would definitely go back on our next trip!

First & foremost, «103 Mark S» (our server) was a complete jerk. He is the main reason for this Unilocal review. If he was representing my company, I would be extremely disappointed. The food was dry, burnt and very average. You can get the same meal for a lot cheaper down the road at Taco Bell. Super bummed that we spent $ 90 on dog food. Even though you’re on vacation and wanting to try something new, I highly suggest that you avoid this restaurant.

I absolutely love this place and eat here at least 3 times a week. We live across the street, so it is very convenient. I am however, very disappointed that they do not offer a Kamaiina discount rate. I went in not too long ago and spoke with the manager about a discount rate, and she reacted as if I had just her for a kidney! I mean really? You should give back to your loyal customers right? I Was just asking for a little discount because their prices for fast food are very high! I think they need to work on this ASAP!

Great place for lunch! My boyfriend and I went in at 11am and didn’t need a meal for the rest of the day! The portion size is great and at first may seem like the average but trust me half way through you will start to get full! Was a very chill environment and friendly staff. Their salsa bar is one of kind! They have a salsa with pineapple in it! Try a little bit of everything. Also this is Mexican food with a twist, my chicken taquitos tasted almost as if they had been marinated in a light bbq sauce which doesn’t sound right but it was good! Just catches you off guard, so be aware that some of the options may be a bit different than real Mexican food.

Service and atmosphere here are nice, but the food is below basic. Definitely over priced for the quality and flavor. But it came out quick and served as a decent lunch. I just wouldn’t recommend going out of your way for it. We got the chicken burrito, fish tacos, and shrimp cocktail.

Overall the food was pretty crappy. There was three of us with three different dishes. We all concurred that the food was terrible. Even the girl at the Rip Curl store shuddered when we told her we ate there. The service was poor and not very accommodating to a vegetarian request.

Overall a good experience. The pricing was pretty good given that this restaurant is in a relatively expensive area! They throw in a few extras like sour cream and extra chips (no charge) if you ask. We were just visiting the area, but will come back if we are back on the island again!

Way over priced … My husband got two tacos which were 7 bucks EACH!
I had the nachos and the chips were stale… And my nachos were 12 bucks…
We’ve had better tacos back at home…
Twos stars for the decent salsa tho!

I found Maui Tacos on Unilocal and it had a few mixed reviews, but I rate my experience with 5 stars!
You MUST try the verde/pineapple salsa. The sauce was tangy and had the perfect combination of tomatillo and island inspired flavors were beautiful. Lucky for you, they sell bottles at the restaurant to buy. Excited to bring it home to put on everything.

¡El burrito vegeteriano fue totalmente aburrido! Absolutamente sin sabor.
Zero flavor in the veggie burrito. And the cheese quesadilla was dull dull dull.
Whatver, didn’t come to Maui for the Mexican food.
They do get a point for having a variety of salsas — not great, not awful — laid out under a stainless steel cover. That’s hygienic! Good move, Maui Taco.

I don’t know what people are talking about — we thought the food here was great! Got the special which was blackened fish tacos and our kids got the shrimp tacos — they are a little skimpy on how many chips they give you… which was a little disappointing. But the salsas were so good! Lots of different flavors and levels of heat. We will be back.

I grew up on Maui and of all of the hidden local food spots all over the island, I have to admit Maui Tacos is the restaurant I crave the most when I’m 3,000 miles away.
Their surf burritos are to die for. At first glance of the menu, they may seem a little expensive, but after seeing the size and quality, rest assured, you’re getting your money’s worth.
Everything always tastes fresh, salsa bar is bountiful and tasty and their chips are homemade and have the perfect crunch to them.
Recently, they’ve upgraded, bought out the old Subway next door and expanded and upgraded big time. If you’re at all familiar with the old Maui tacos interior, you’re in for a big (positive) surprise when you come in and see the changes they’ve made. The restaurant size has nearly doubled including adding a bar and extra tables. The décor has been completely upgraded and looks amazing!
I’ve only been on Maui four days and I’ve been In here 3 different times, it’s that good.

What’s good about Maui Tacos in Napili…
Good selection of fresh made salsas.
Quick friendly service.
Inside dining has been expanded. Plenty of tables.
Clean.
Unfortunately the food just lacks flavor. Especially given the prices, they’re not giving it away here. It also tends to be a bit thrown together. I hate saying that. Love this convenient location near Napili and Kapalua.
All the ingredients do taste fresh and of good quality though. Plan on hitting everything with salt and salsa.

In my month long stay in Maui, I’ve gone to Maui tacos at least 4 times. It’s a cheap delicious meal. I’ve had the enchiladas, Chingalinga Platter, and Grilled Adobo Chicken Bowl. I love this place and the salsa bar too

Carne asada platter: okay. Meat was a little bland. Good portion .
Shrimp taco platter: okay. 2 tacos + rice + beans. Shrimp seemed a little over cooked. But still edible.
Salsa bar: 4 stars for the pineapple salsa! Very unexpected taste for a salsa. Loved the sweetness. Tasted great with the shrimp tacos.
Service: the girls were great. Nice and friendly.

Even though the food is good at this restaurant, it gets a poor rating due to lack of service and a disgruntled employee comment
Posted that the restaurant opens for breakfast at 0900 we arrived a few minutes early and stood waiting outside for opening. There was an employee inside prepping for opening. He could see us waiting outside
At 0900 employee comes to the door announcing the restaurant won’t open until 0930 as the cook is not coming in until than!
Noticing a Unilocal sticker on the door I commented opening would be noted on Unilocal.Employee sarcastically responded «thank you»
This business needs to understand that just because surf’s up and the cook wants to surf, they need to be ready to own as posted! They also could have shared the info they were not going to open on time rather than wasting customers time so a choice could be made to wait or go
