I wanted to support the businesses on Rt. 59 that are getting hit hard from the construction project. Looking for junior clubs for my son. Selection was awful. Pricing not competitive. Service non-existent, as I stood in the section with the limited junior clubs for several minutes while an employee nearby shot the breeze with his buddy. I had to seek out assistance, even though I was one of only two customers in the store. They did not have what I was looking for. The sales person didn’t try to help me by sending me to their website. He basically didn’t give a damn. I need new clubs. I won’t be getting them at Golf Galaxy! I was able to find what I wanted at nearby Golfsmith. At a better price than what Golf Galaxy had(Golf Galaxy had lefty clubs in what I was looking for, I needed righty). And much better service at Golfsmith!

I’ve bought two ping sets of irons at this Naperville store and let me say they are not the store they used to be. Golf Galaxy always use to be the best golf store but something must have changed. They only had one golf simulator where an old man who did not intend on buying any clubs was being waited on hand over foot. There was no one else in the entire store yet I waited for 10 minutes while the 10 employees gave me dirty looks. I’m not sure if it was because I was there with my girlfriend but these creeps working there acted like they’ve seen a girl. After they gave me a dirty look when I asked if I could demo a club I just left and went to golf smith where I was treated with respect. If they continue to treat their young customers with no respect they’re not going to have any customers in 10 years.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, I’m giving a golf specialty store 5 stars. … ps– not sure why Unilocal says this store is closed, but let me assure you, Golf Galaxy is very much alive, well, and open for business. Stop #4 on the«get Mel a B-Day golf club set» excursion and ding, ding, ding. We’ve finally found a winner. This well laid out store was a hit from the first step we took in the door. We were greeted right away, they had multiple staff members working in every section, there’s a putting area, a super cool golf simulator, PGA pros on hand to help, and an out of this galaxy selection of everything golf. We were in the market for a complete golf club set and before entering this store, we were also on the verge of being totally burnt out on golf related shopping. Luckily, golf galaxy had a huge selection of complete golf sets for various ages, in varying prices, available for male or female, left or right handies. My BF chatted up a PGA pro about which set would work best for him while I perused the golf club head covers(so fun!). We were there for a little over an hour in total and walked out with a great deal on a set of clubs. You see, the BF and his PGA guide settled on a nice and slightly pricey set of 2010 clubs that was on display and that we’d also scoped out online. Then the PGA guy asked us to hold on for a moment while he checked in back. He came back with the same exact set of clubs but in the box that had 2009 instead of 2010 and was $ 100 cheaper because it was the last one left and they couldn’t display the old single set. Score! We ended up using the $ 100 we saved to purchase gloves, balls, tees, a hedgehog club head cover, and more. From beginning to end, the experience was 5 sexy star worthy. Even the guy at the check out was friendly and helped us save money by signing up for their mailing list and getting points on a frequent buyer card for the money we were spending that day. The next time Mel wants to do a little golf retail therapy, I’d gladly tag along if it meant Golf Galaxy fun time.
