Our 4 year old lab Stella had no manners– she assumed everyone wanted to be her friend and would jump on everyone, small or large. She pulled at the leash and made walks or hikes miserable. If the doorbell rang, forget about it– barking mad woman, and if you opened the door she would bolt out. She had basic commands down, but chose when she would listen and when she wouldn’t. We are short on time everyday– 3 kids, full time jobs, it wasn’t fair to let her bad behavior continue, do we signed up for the 2 week board and train and were assigned to Kahlie. OMG… what a difference after her training! Stella’s results literally brought tears to our eyes. We received daily updates from Kahlie during the two weeks to see her progress and we couldn’t have been more proud of Stella. We spent almost 2 hours with Kahlie at pick up where she proudly showed us what she was able to teach Stella. Stella couldn’t have been more pleased with herself to show us what she had learned too! Since we have had her home her progress continues, as does our learning curve. If I have any questions I do not hesitate to contact Kahlie and know I will get a fast response from her. We are so pleased and would take her back to Off Leash over and over again.

My husband and I did a lot of research on trainers in the San Diego area for our German Shepherd, Paso, who is three years old and as rambunctious as they come. We’ve been writing off his bad behavior for far too long, and incidents involving him growling or acting aggressive and aloof (as GSD’s can be) with other people and dogs had numbered to the point where we knew we needed help. We just weren’t sure how to de-​sensitize him, or why he was always so anxious, and wondered where we’d gone wrong. We needed to be better leaders and didn’t know where to start. We chose to do the two-​week board and train program with Tom McGovern, and I knew from the success videos and stories that it would be the foundation training we needed, and as a bonus, that Tom and his team would be there for us from then on if we ever needed help.
We picked Paso up about a week ago and he is a changed dog. He listens to our commands with ease and most importantly, we feel like we’re back in control. We can walk with a perfect heel, and I even drop the leash sometimes just to impress myself all over again. The commands and use of the collar are thoroughly explained upon pick up — and even though I was unsure of myself at first, with just a couple of days practice I now understand how I’m supposed to be communicating with him.
Paso got high-​praises for being such a smart Shepherd, and I now understand how easy it is to train him — we should have done it a long time ago! My 1.5 year old Akita, Bixby, and I did the 4 class package with Heather. I honestly thought my dog was too stubborn to be trainable. Thankfully Heather proved me wrong. My dog now has recall, walks better on the leash and generally listens to me better than I ever thought would be possible. Highly recommended!

Our GSD Chuey was starting to get too out of hand for us. We could not walk him without him basically pulling us down the street and he seemed to have some issues with other dogs too, frantically barking at any dog he saw. He would bark at the neighbors or any «new» person that came to the house. Got to a point to were we didn’t want to take him anywhere anymore because it was too chaotic. Did some research on dog trainers and came across Off Leash and decided this was the one for him, and we are sooo glad we did! We chose to do the board and train 2 week program and yes, we had to wait a couple months before he could go but it was worth every penny and time waiting! When it came time to drop Chuey off, we met Tom and he’s a great guy. Very personable and easy to talk, he explained everything nicely and answered any questions we had. During the 2 weeks he was away, we got daily pics and video updates. It was so awesome to see how much Chuey was changing just from those, he was a completely different dog! Came time to pick him up and Tom sat down with us and explained everything very thorough and made sure we understood how everything worked. He also said Chuey was the most energetic dog he’s ever seen lol. Now that Chuey has been home for a few days, our daily life has been so much easier for all of us! No more crazy barking or jumping, i wish we would have done it sooner! It’s so cool to be able to tell him stuff and he actually listens! haha Highly recommend Off Leash, i tell everyone about how awesome it is! If you’re having any doubts, don’t. it will be the best thing you’ll do for both you and your dog :)

What an amazing group! I brought my three-​year-​old pitbull into their training because she knew basic commands but wouldn’t respond as quickly as I would like and she was a very strong puller on the leash along with leash aggression/​reactivity, she is GREAT with meeting people but not other animals. Joyce was the BEST person I could leave her with. I hadn’t left Zara with anyone other than my dad and was very nervous/​unsure that she was going to be «too much» for anyone to teach. Also I left Zara with Joyce while being on the other side of the country. Right after walking into her house and meeting her and her family I felt at ease. She sent daily texts, videos, and pictures making me feel like I was right there with them. My list of things to work on were, enjoying a walk, pacing in the car, jumping up on people to say hi, along with some other things. I got Zara back about a week ago and WOW what a transformation. She doesn’t pull on the leash, she doesn’t jump up on anything, we have doggie friends over every week, no begging, her car manners are amazing. I couldn’t ask for anything more! Even throughout the week that I have had her home if I had any questions she made it very known that I should have no hesitation to contact her. The best most thorough, knowledgable person I have ever come in contact with about dogs. I recommend this company and Joyce as your trainer 100%!

I own a working line German Shepherd that was out of control. He was a very high drive dog with no manners. I took Kiko to Tom from off-​leash canine hoping he could help with my dog. I had very bad experiences with other trainers in the past, where they promised you results that I never got. After watching his videos on youtube, I decided to give him a try. From day one, he would update me on my dog progress by sending me videos and pictures. I couldn’t be happier, watching him do commands around other dogs. The biggest test was to have him on a command with the ball around, his biggest crack, as I call it. I was so amazed how he stayed on command while the ball was being tossed around in front of him. After picking him up, Tom was very thorough on his instructions. It has been approx 4 months now, Kiko is doing great, I take him everywhere, considering his drive is under control and is well mannered. I can be anywhere in my house with the dog, including outside, once I give him the crate command, he knows he needs to be in his crate asap. To any skeptics out there like myself, if you are looking for a trainer that guarantees results, Tom is your man.

My pup Desoto was a hyper big ol baby. We did the basic package just to get a hold of things. A difference was made would be an understatement. He showed me how to work with my boy and it’s been a major difference by far. Now I even let 2yr Olds walk him. He’s now over 100 lbs and a pitbull btw. Thank you, this was great.

Tom did a great job training our dog. Tom got him to listen to commands, but more importantly now he holds the commands too. Through the entire process Tom was very professional. He gave us updates almost every day during training. We are extremely impressed with the progress Tom made in just 2 weeks of working with our dog. When we came to pick him up Tom spent about 2 hours going over the training process, how to operate the e-​collar remote, and going over commands with our dog. He made sure that we were trained just as well as our dog was trained. Overall, this was a great experience. I’m definitely going to be recommending Tom to any of my friends with pets in need of training.

I have a 90 pound German Shepherd with a high prey drive and was looking for alternative ways to obedience train him without diminishing his drive. I watched the video’s on Youtube and contacted Tom right away. He was very calm and assertive. He explained the training and we got started right away. I left the first lesson feeling confident after seeing major improvements that first day. The training is valuable and you will end up with the type of dog behavior you’ve always wanted. Continued reinforcement is the key to long term success. You can’t go through training and expect that your dog will remember it without you doing your part to help them. It’s like going on a weight loss vacation, getting the results you want, then coming back home and eating the same fattening foods. Your dog is being trained and you are being educated on how to maintain that training back at home. Teamwork :-)

I just finished the lessons with my Boxer /​Shepherd mix. I can tell you, if you own a dog, you owe it to them, yourself, and anyone that they come into contact with to get your dog trained… and it doesn’t get any better than this.
I’ve taken my pup to a pet-​store for training before, and she did good, but not nearly to the level I wanted. After reading the reviews, I figured I’d give Off Leash a try. I still can’t believe the change in her and the level of obedience she now has. Absolutely amazing, especially on walks. She did great with come, sit, and place, but I never thought after just 1 lesson that I would get her to walk properly on a leash. Previously, she would pull with all her might while walking, and any dog or person that she heard or saw would put her in all out attack mode. Again, after only 1 lesson, she is now locked at my side while walking and doesn’t even pay attention to other dogs or people… her focus is on me and keeping her position. I still can’t believe it. I have little kids at home and I owe it to them to have an obedient dog to the level she is at now. She has to be so much happier on walks as well now that she’s not pulling with all her might and choking herself the whole time. My Doberman is next and although he has his own issues, I’m 100% confident in the capabilities of Off Leash. Thanks Tom and Gunner.

We just picked up our 63 pound, 7 month old boxer from Off Leash K-​9 training. What an amazing transformation we witnessed during today’s orientation. Prior to attending training, our Meatloaf would drop to the floor when a leash was attached to his collar. He was a high-​energy, somewhat out of control puppy that would not respond to any encouraged commands or efforts we attempted in trying to control our puppy. During our orientation Tom demonstrated all the «learned» commands and discipline both on-​leash and off leash. Truly amazing transformation. Meatloaf now happily responds to commands to sit, lay down, place and very happy to say seems to love to walk with his leash with absolutely no apparent resistance or strain.
We really feel that we could not have received any better training than what we obtained from Tom. A true professional, who obviously spent many hours training our puppy and making sure that the experience was enjoyable and fun for Meatloaf. We are truly grateful for the «new» behavior of our dog and look forward to the joy and life memories we will share with our family dog.

I brought my 3 year old, German Shepherd Dog, «Blitz», to Tom at Off Leash K9 SoCal to fine tune my dog’s obedience. I researched many dog training programs and interviewed several trainers before selecting Tom. I was overwhelmed by Tom’s knowledge, expertise and passion towards training any dog regardless of age, size or breed. Tom’s goal for Blitz was to be 100% obedient off leash. After Blitz attended the two week board and training program, Blitz’s obedience is absolutely outstanding and completely OFF LEASH. All of my issues with Blitz being an over protective Shepherd has all been addressed and under control. Mainly due to Tom’s knowledge and experience with dog behavior when on a leash. My family, including my 9 year old son, can walk Blitz with confidence and completely under control. Everyone that sees Blitz are very impressed. I am so happy with Off Leash K9 Training SoCal, I wanted to do the two week boarding but I didn’t trust that my German Shepard, Gunner wouldn’t eat his whole family and I didn’t want to have to up and move, I love living in Murrieta.
I had a dilemma, my Shepard was growing fast and his aggression was getting worse. He is the sweetest dog to my family «only». I wasn’t allowed to have company over to the house any more because the hair on Gunner’s back would stand up and the barking would not stop. He didn’t have a fan club and I didn’t know how to get him to be nice.
I called Tom to ask for information, he gave me some tips and a couple of things to try. I was thankful he stayed on the phone with me for a while and when I hung up the phone, I thought wow! What a nice guy, no pressure what so ever! I watched his videos on Facebook and I really wanted my dog to behave the same way! I wanted to sign up but was afraid my dog was helpless. I decided to put my reservations aside and give it a try! I thought, I’d invest in my dog now and get him under control or I’d lose him later and more money if he bites someone.
I am sooooo happy, I decided to take the leap and get the training. I purchase the package where I would get the personal training because I figured I needed training too. It was my fault I spoiled him to begin with. After two sessions, Gunner is a completely different new and improved Shepard. I can walk him and get him to sit so people can walk by and he just sits (no barking). When we have company at the house I place him at my feet and he just sits and falls asleep. I get so many compliments «What a good dog!» I’m so proud.
I am looking forward to my additional sessions! Maybe one day, he’ll be famous on Tom’s Facebook videos of his amazing transformation, lol. I am so THANKFUL to GUNNER for his patience on his first session and also to Tom for the advice and my second session. I can’t wait to move on to advance training in our future.

We enrolled our two full grown German Shepherds (Brewski, 4 yrs and Axel 2.5 years) into Offleash K9Training’s two week Board and Train program and to say we are impressed is an understatement! Our boys are completely transformed and are now gentlemen! It’s so nice to be able to walk and heel them with no pulling, no issues. They are all around more pleasant to be around and we couldn’t be happier with our investment! This training is worth every penny! The hours and work that Gunner and all the other trainers put into these dogs is amazing and the results are incredible!

Gunner is an awesome trainer. After a few short lessons my girl is listening and amazing me. I know its an investment but it is well worth it. I love the guidance and we will be back for the advanced lessons.

I invested in Off Leash K9 because I truly believe it as such… An ‘investment’ in the happiness and future of you and your dog. My boyfriend Ryan saw one Tom’s clients with their very well-​behaved dog at an event. He was amazed at how calm, happy and obedient this dog was and off leash nonetheless! Naturally, he came home and told me all about it, which of course, sparked my interest!
I was in a pretty bad motorcycle wreck on Sept 11, 2015. I was hit head on by and SUV who was trying to cut me off to go the opposite way. I had a compound tib/​fib fracture that was completely shattered in some places. I had 5 surgeries and spent just over 4 weeks in the hospital. I’m very lucky I didn’t lose my leg. Needless to say, I’ve been trying to recover ever since.
Now, I’d like to tell you why I chose Off Leash K9. I needed help! I rescued a boxer/​pit whom I named Leila… She’s my heart. I tried to train her for an entire year before my accident. Nothing was helping. I was getting frustrated; she was getting frustrated. She was pretty much dragging me everywhere and was especially aggressive on the leash when other dogs were around. I was mama bear and she was my protective cub. After the accident, I was in a wheelchair for 5 months. I couldn’t hold her, let alone walk her. It wasn’t fair to her. She was under 2 and deserved to be happy and get her exercise. I needed a solution. I wasn’t going to give her away, she’s my baby!
Tom and his team were my solution! They boarded and trained her for 2 weeks. The Leila I picked up was not the same dog I dropped off. The results were nothing short of AMAZING! Leila (who’s smart like her mama haha) picked it up very quickly and follows her commands very well. She also doesn’t jump, lick or pull me anymore! She can walk off-​leash and I’m not afraid to take her everywhere anymore. Tom has not only built confidence in Leila, but also confidence in me! I don’t hesitate to walk her, take her places or have guests over. Leila is so happy and she gets the proper exercise because these commands make her use her brain and tires her out. It’s an investment I completely stand behind and I recommend it to anyone. It’s an investment you will make for building a long and happy relationship with your pet and totally worth every penny, plus more! I will probably send all my pets to Tom until I can’t anymore!

Our 9 month old Bloodhound mix just came back from a board and train with Tom and I couldn’t be more pleased. She is as perfectly trained as all his before & after videos display. It was definitely the right choice as far as training methods for her and has made her a much more balanced dog.
Furthermore, I was relieved to see that she truly enjoyed being there and was very affectionate with the trainer. I could tell she was happy while she was away from us. It was absolutely an investment into her and our mental wellbeing. Crazy puppy no more! I would recommend Tom at Off Leash K9 to anyone with a dog.
