I would give zero stars if I could! I was in the area so decided to go here. This place is horrible! The salad area was messy, didn’t look fresh, and a lot of the vegetables were out. The soup area had only a couple bowls and for some disgusting reason an employee left a bucket of dirty water with a sponge right next to the soups. The plates were so dirty and the cups were so dirty I decided to not even drink anything. I didn’t eat much and what a huge waste of money this was! Left this place in a bad mood because of how horrible it was. Let’s hope I don’t get food poisoning or something. I usually visit the first street location in San Jose and that one is MUCH better! I will definitely not be coming back to the location!

Seriously, worst Sweet Tomatoes ever. The food trays were mostly empty, the soups were messy, and the service was non existent. Part of the problem may be the location. The location is small, so the counters are smaller/shorter, and, thus, the food area is messy. Go to the one on Sunnyvale — it is so much better! Also sign up for their weekly email coupons — I would never go without a coupon!

I’m so sad about Sweet Tomatoes. It was always a fun and easy place to take kids for dinner when I didn’t want to cook. However, each time I go there the quality and the healthfulness of the choices drops. The last visit was very likely my last. For a place called sweet TOMATOES there were very few options for actual vegetables. The premixed salads were dripping with goo and dressing to the point where the greeens were mushy. Yuck! The soups were edible at best. The pasta was horrendous. After leaving, I felt a little ill from all of the carbs. When looking at the options, I can’t believe that it is so expensive. I’m not ever going back. So sad, Sweet Tomatoes! Get with the times!

Our family s favorite restaurant! Sign up online to get coupons email to you monthly. Only $ 7.99 per person for lunch and $ 22 for 2 for dinner! Best deal you can get for the price. I’ll also purchase gift card during November & December, for you can get one free meal coupon for each $ 50 gift card! Even greater deal! The only problem is coming here during weekends, other than it’s pretty crowded the plates and restrooms are dirtier due to lack of service people.

I was really excited to try this because I love, love, love Souplantation in San Diego. So the excitement of finding a Sweet Tomatoes(Souplantation’s sister restaurant) semi-close to me, I have to give it an extra star. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as Souplantation. They had the same line-up of salad bar, multiple soup options, some pastas, and baked goods, but the Souplantation quality wasn’t there. Top two disappointments: –The soup options although plentiful did not have the taste I had become accustomed to with Souplantation. Two of them had a strong burnt taste. The Clam Chowder, which is typically a Souplantation staple was one of them. At first, my friend said it had a peanut butter taste to it but when he heard a lady complaining to the chef behind the counter that they need to change another soup because it’s burnt, he realized that the taste was probably that it was overcooked and burnt. –The three pasta options looked overcooked and probably had been sitting there for hours. It was not appealing at all. A friend who had tried the Mac & Cheese, said it was meh. There are two other Sweet Tomatoes in the area, I might try them just to see if the quality is better, but unless I was really craving the Chunky Chicken Noodle, I would probably wait till I visit San Diego again.

I used to love Soup Plantation aka Sweet Tomatoes many years back. So when I felt the urge of having soup and salad the other day, I decided to give this place a try despite the bad reviews since it’s closer to home. I was very disappointed with my experience here. The salad bar was mediocre and like other reviewer’s pointed they don’t have eggs. They had a few varieties of soup which was the only savior. In the pasta section they just had two different versions of mac and cheese. Honestly I was quite disappointed with the very little variety of items available now. The place is crowded and has very little seating, so if you are going on a busy night there might be a wait time. They seemed understaffed and the soup/pasta bar as well as the dessert bar was pretty dirty and not refilled frequently.

I love Sweet Tomatoes, but I won’t be coming back to this particular location. After a gym session, my boyfriend and I decided on Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. The location was easy to find and parking was scarce but manageable. We went in and there was already a tangible feel of chaos. Salad Bar: It was messy, but the vegetables did look fresh. I was very disappointed that there was no eggs available, but I didn’t dwell on that fact too long. I grabbed a little of the premixed salads(Won Ton Asian Salad, Turkey Taco Salad, and Tuna Macaroni Salad). I also made a little of my own salad(Spinach, Romaine, Ice Berg with Onions, Chick Peas, Corn, etc and Thousand Island). There was only one cashier for two lines. But the cashier was nice and patient. We were seated in a short amount of time and I started to eat. I completely lost my appetite after I noticed this short, black, wavy hair in my pre-mix salad(Asian Won Ton Salad). I examined it closely and saw it had a white tip and knew immediately it was a hair!(I don’t want to guess which part of the body, but I knew.) I stopped eating all my salad immediately. After that, a worked accused my boyfriend of trying to take a mug without paying for it. He was simply exchanging because the cup was dirty. He had to walk back and show his receipt to prove his drink purchase. I moved on to the hot food and only had two soups(both chicken) and some mac and cheese. I was no longer enjoying my experience. I can tell they were short staffed and very stressed out. It was a very popular andy busy establishment, but no excuses. I am very glad I did not get food poisoning after that fiasco.

This place is like the undernourished little brother of Sweet Tomatoes. It’s almost hole-in-the-wallish to the point that if you’re driving on Grant Rd., it’s easy to miss — or outright forget that it’s still part of the family(aka blood relative vs. step-sister California Fresh/Fresh Choice). == tl;dr == $ 11.29÷2 For $ 22 Lunch with bevmo $ 12.29÷2 For $ 24 Dinner with bevmo Sign up for ClubVeg and it’ll be like $ 8.99… ======== There’s no tell-tale outside seating and the outside storefront is pretty nondescript. It’s got all the accoutrements of its big sis Sweet Tomatoes so it’s safe to say that«size doesn’t matter.» Some of you rare birds preferred the poor choice of Fresh Choice’s [aka, California«Fresh”] soups and baked goods but I’ve always found Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes to have, ahem, sweet[er] soups and baked goods a la comparing sour generic off-brand apples with sweet name brand oranges. You’ll probably remember Nob Hill, Wells Fargo, and Erik’s Deli are in this shopping center before recalling that Sweet Tomatoes is here too.(Just sayin’…)

Oh, how times have changed! It’s been a roller coaster of love and hate with this place, but now we find ourselves here at least once a week. Salad bar is fine if you’re into creating your own salads, but they no longer carry eggs and the dressings are all pretty weak. I just stick to their pre-made salads and find that they are suitable and usually balanced enough. After you pay, you can indulge in more guilty options, such as their bread station which showcases a wide variety of focaccia(usually have some veggie option, pepperoni and several cheese options). Usually wait for them to bring out a new sheet of piping hot bread before I load up. You don’t look as gluttonous when you take five slices from a full sheet than when you do from one that is half gone. The soup station is also great for those who love variety. They usually got around eight or so soups and while none are really the kind I’d order a la carte from any restaurant, I do find myself trying quite a few of them each visit. My favorite is the chili, but the chicken noodle soup is growing on me with its clear broth and ridiculous amounts of chicken at the bottom of the bain marie. Have to thank the better half for showing me the way on this one. I find the desserts(the few times I’ve left room for them) to be quite disappointing and often too sweet. Not much to complain about considering the price point. I never pay full price here, since they email me coupons weekly to my inbox. For lunch, we usually pay $ 7.99 each which only comes with water. At dinner, we do the two for $ 19.99 option which comes with beverages. My only real issue with this place is that I often feel pregnant after leaving. Okay, I look it as well. Quiet please.

Well, after being a Souplantation regular and a sweet tomato customer in San Diego, I would say this place is a tad smaller than most Sweet Tomatoes and the selections are not quite as par as other places. Upon entry I noticed a sign saying«don’t know when eggs are coming back due to prices» I understand eggs are expensive but eliminating it completely off the menu was something I didn’t like, hence a deduction for me. The food here doesn’t seem to get rotated enough here. I love the chicken soup here usually. I normally get a cup with my salad immediately after I have it. When I went to the soup station, I noticed there were little chicken and little noodles left. So I thought I would eat my salad first and then get the soup this time. However, after 20 minutes later, it still wasn’t rotated or added. I even got dessert and 40 minutes after that, it still was the same. Sorry, that wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Another thing I noticed here was we got charged $ 3.49 for kids 5 and under which is normally $ 2.99. I spoke to the manager and I got the difference back immediately, no questions asked. That was nice. The bussers here don’t get to the tables to clean your dishes as quick either. I think I’m just super spoiled by the location by my house which is always been 5 stars in my book. I do wish this location would learn from them.

This brings me back to childhood memories in Seattle where my favorite restaurant was Zoopa. Sadly, Zoopa has died out, and Seattle doesn’t have Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantations, so I was excited to try this place out when I moved here. What’s not to like? Salad, soup, baked goods, ice cream. The stars of the show: Chicken noodle soup — the broth hits all the right spots especially when you’re sick Chocolate chip muffin — satisfies any sweet tooth cravings without it giving you a sugar headache Baked potato — love filling these piping hot babies up with cheese and bacon bits Honorable mentions that I think are seasonal/not always around: Cream of mushroom soup — super smooth and creamy but not too salty Sriracha slaw — so much flavor Delicious simplicity.

AH you definitely don’t really get yer moneys worth here. I’ve been to the one in Sunnyvale an it definitely seems bigger. There wasn’t much of a selection. The salad bar was pretty decent everything else was not soo much. There wasn’t many desserts. I was kinda exception sweet potatoes too but nah. The soup selection wasn’t bad.

This was my first visit to sweet tomatoes. I went for a fund raiser for CAIR and had a really nice time. for all the first timers, let me tell you how it works. Salads and soups(all you can eat) dinner buffet cost $ 15 per person with a beverage(unlimited free refills yay!!). you go to the salad bar, after which you pay and get a glass for the fountain drinks. Various types of salads and dressings(some low fat and fat free as well) and vinegars, mostly meat free. only saw one type of chicken salad. It’s clearly indicated whether vegan, or vegetarian so that helps. After the salad bar is the soups bar. They have several types of soups and Mac and cheese. I didn’t try either so I can’t say much except that some of them looked quite delish. There’s a bakery(all you can eat too!!) where you can get different types of muffins like chocolate brownie(the best one!!), blueberry and cornbread. Also available are foccacia breads(the cheese one was yum) some pralines muffins(didn’t try) and some other plain and multi grain breads to go with your soup etc. There’s also a hot potato bar with various toppings and fillings for the baked potato but I don’t care for potatoes so I didn’t even check. And then there’s the ice cream bar where you can create your own sundae. three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, swirl. The ice cream machine wasn’t working very smoothly but it did do the job. I used the chocolate brownie muffin for my sundae– yummm! The muffin was a bit hard and dry on its own but so good with the icecream-mmm! They also had two Ghirardelli sauces — chocolate and caramel. Next to the icecream machine were some other desserts like tapioca, gelatin, orange slices, grapes and granola. Overall, pretty great for the price. Would revisit when I’m craving veggies or perhaps just for the brownie muffins.

Can’t remember the last time I’ve been to sweet tomato, but the only I recall is the asian veggie salad with crunchy wontons. Came here for lunch. Was feeling sick and soup sounded like a good idea. I was expecting this place to have a plethora of options, but what I was was meager. Couple of salads, plenty of toppings(including quinoa), pizza, and soups. Asian salad wasn’t replenished when I got there, so I’d thought by the time I completed my full merry go round of the place it would be full. When I returned back, the employees noticed it was empty but didn’t bother to do anything – only until I asked. It’s lunch time so these employees should fill up. Wasn’t too fond of the greasy pizza. Chunky chicken noodle soup kind of the spot, but the chicken was kind of dry. Albondigas locas, one of the featured soup, was pretty tasty in itself. I probably won’t ever return to a sweet tomato, unless I have to go on a diet or it is deemed necessary by my physician. There aren’t any meaty options here for lunch-not that I had expected it– but I literally piled on bacon bits on everything I ate.

Hadn’t been to Sweet Tomatoes in years, remembered it being a clean, organized buffet with great food. Well I was in for quite a surprise… Upon arrival we stood in line sandwiched between 40+ people trying to build their salads. The cashier was moving at a snail’s pace, wouldn’t make eye contact, and kept talking to her friend. Finally after we paid, she had us literally stand with our trays while they found a place for us to sit. We were ignored for 10 minutes and eventually just sat down somewhere. Not only was the place completely packed with multiple babies literally screaming, it was difficult to even find bowls or cups. I was so happy to get out of this place. The food is alright, but the experience has encouraged me not to return.

Amazing Salad buffet restaurant. While entering restaurant, I didn’t had slightest of idea on what this restaurant has to offer. As we enter, there’s big buffet counter of salads(probably had every salad I have ever heard of), and then at the end of salad bar, you will unexpectedly encounter payment counter. And after you pay, then there’s more food counters to explore ! Its funny how they sandwiched payment counter between food counters. Continuing through food counters, you will encounter muffins, pizzas, soups. And if that hasn’t filled up your stomach, there’s desert of fruits, jelly & actual big ice-cream swirl machine for unlimited ice-cream ! Although this restaurant is known for its health salad offerings, I am pretty sure I exited restaurant with more(& yummy) junk in my stomach. Amazing expereince. Will come back for sure

Yes, this Sweet Tomatoes is dirtier than most, and maybe it has fewer selections than most. But this is my hometown Sweet Tomatoes. And you know where we had to go before this place opened? Fresh Choice. So dirtier or not, this place is a huge improvement already for those of us who live nearby. Never been to Sweet Tomatoes before? It’s basically a salad, soup, and baked goods buffet. I grew up on Sweet Tomatoes and I’ve eaten at 3 locations(San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View), so at this point I can already list my favorite options. They rotate through some of the options so I’ll use * to denote something that is not always available: Salad Bar: — Caesar Salad: My go-to of the mixed salads. I usually add some mixed greens, carrots, eggs, and corn — Joan’s Broccoli Madness: The best side salad option, in my opinion. Broccoli, bacon, cashews, and raisins in some really awesome dressing. — Seafood and Shrimp Pasta Shells*: Another really great side salad option, one of the rare sightings of seafood at Sweet Tomatoes Soup: — Deep Kettle House Chili: My go-to. This chili is more«tomato-y» than most, and less salty. It’s hearty and delicious and goes well with any baked good(see below). — Chicken Pot Pie Stew*: This tastes exactly like it sounds, and the mini biscuits that they serve with it are cute and delicious. This is the only soup that can compete with the chili in my book. — Big Chunk Chicken Noodle Soup: This soup seems really popular(there’s never really a line anywhere at the soup bar except here), but I usually only go for it when I’m sick. And it strangely does make me feel better! Baked Goods: — Grilled Cheese Focaccia Dippers*: Why is this not a permanent staple at Sweet Tomatoes? Think a grilled cheese sandwich with crunchy cracker bits on top. Goes well with chili or tomato soup. — In the absence of the above(which is unfortunately most of the year), anything resembling cheesy bread is usually pretty good. The corn bread is also pretty delicious, with bits of corn baked inside. — Blueberry Muffin: If nothing else, get this. These are amazing.
