Average sushi that is seriously overpriced. Got my order wrong… twice! I hate unagi and didn’t want to eat the screw up rolls but they complained about wasting food. Nigiri tai also had too much sriracha sauce on top and it ruined the flavor of the fish. Then the waiter never came back. The manager/owner looked like her face would break if she smiled. A family near the door had a dog that kept coming into the restaurant because the owners propped the door open to keep an eye on him… and it was cold outside! Bad atmosphere, bad management, bad service. Won’t be returning.

We get lunch delivered from them sometimes. One roll had siracha sauce on it, which wasn’t in the description. It was gross on the roll and had I known I wouldn’t have ordered it. My second roll was a salmon and avocado roll, but they completely left out the avocado on some pieces.

I came here with my roommate. I ordered the ramen special, which includes a ramen and a californian roll. It’s just all right, nothing extraordinary or too bad.

Worst service ever! Saturday at 5:30 pm, few people there yet waited 5 minutes without anyone even coming to acknowledge my presence or seat me. Finally just went and sat at the sushi bar myself. It was full of dirty places and had not been cleaned off. Again waited For 10 minutes and no one came to serve me or take my order. Every time I needed something I needed to look for someone, wave and flag them down. Food was mediocre although portions are good

A group of eight stopped in yesterday, about 12:30pm I ordered the Ramen soup; choice of shoyu, miso, and two other styles. It was a larger bowl, filled with a good broth that was not too salty; hunks of chunks of pork, minced green onions and plenty of slightly chew noodles — satisfying. Your choice of sides: chicken kaarage, fried white fish, dumpling and one other. I had the fried white fish and it was golden brown, crispy and tasted good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. $ 12.95 plus tax and tip. Parking: ok.

I have eaten here several times before, rarely by choice. I felt in the past three stars was a stretch, but OK… benefit of the doubt. After my Saturday night dinner experience there… never, ever, ever, ever again. In one word HORRIBLE. It was $ 144(including $ 13 tip) for 4 all you can eat and 2 sodas. You be the judge of price. Service was S-L-O-W. I actually started falling asleep waiting for my sushi. Thirty plus minutes between rounds. It wasn’t a meal… it was a marathon race. The winner got to eat mediocre sushi. It was very crowded and the staff was inefficient and ineffective. Some sushi orders sat for 10 or more minutes waiting to be delivered to the table. We had people come and order bento boxes, get the boxes, and leave while we waited for our order. The Sushi here is mediocre and is a pale imitation of what real sushi served by real Sushi establishments is about. Come for fuel to fill the belly… for Sushi… find someplace else.

12÷4÷15: Not bad. Nothing fancy or extraordinary here, but for the AYCE option the sushi is above average compared to other places, especially the buffet bar types. But pay attention to their special rule… read on… Lunch All-You-Can-Eat Sushi $ 21.95… As mentioned, this is not a buffet. You check the items you want with erasable marker on a laminated menu then give it back to the waiter. And there is one particularly strange limitation: they only allow each person to tick 3 items each time. Doesn’t matter if it’s just nigiri or whole rolls, you only get 3 ticks. So, that means that if the place is packed and they’re taking 10+ min per order, it’s gonna take you a longass time to get enough food. THEWEIRDSTUFF, WHHAAATTHEHEEEELLLL???: I did see that statement, but I ticked off a bunch anyway for my first order knowing it will all be quickly finished. When the waitress came, I blinked and wondered, «didn’t I check that?» Then I saw her fingers flicking here and there, realizing she was erasing them!!! I was a little stunned then she started talking about the 3 tick rule and that it’s all you can eat so there’s no rush. I was like, «I need to get back to work, and there’s no worry – we will definitely finish it all.» And she responded, «Ordering more at a time won’t save you any time as the kitchen will only get mad and only do a certain number of orders.» I was… huh?! what’s that??? Anyway, before I could have any further words with her she already erased half of our order(without asking us which we prioritize) and run off. I looked at my lunch mate and both of us still had our jaws dropping… Alright, well, that was the weirdest thing ever. But me and my friend decided we would queue up the orders with the waiter every time they brought the food. As it turned out, it wasn’t too bad of a problem because they didn’t take that long to bring us orders. Maybe ~5min wait. Which ain’t bad at all. Though my friend said last time he came it was closer to 15min each, so I guess you’re at the whim of how fast they feel that day. After 3 – 4 rounds we were already totally stuffed. Summary: So here’s the deal… my friend was gonna get 2 rolls, but I hesitated. Told him I felt stupid that AYCE is $ 22 but 2 rolls is $ 24. Doesn’t make sense at all to get the rolls. Told him I’d feel like a retard. And after he sat there a bit… he squirmed… and decided to get AYCE with me. Yeah, their pricing makes no sense. Anyway, as for the taste, rice is quite good, and the fish itself ranged from decent to good. Nothing terrible, nothing great. The mackerel was probably their worst fish – not fishy or anything, but it was dry and low quality. But overall it was all decent. And again, rice was good too. So there you go… strangeass service and rules, but decent food for AYCE. The score is really as an AYCE place. If being compared just for straight up sushi quality, I’d give a 3 instead. 4⁄5 #japanese #sushibuffet #ayce #aycesushi

Let’s be real, catering sushi is really tough! We all prefer sushi fresh, made right in front of our eyes at that perfect temperature. I have got to say that I am sincerely impressed with Sushi 85. We catered through a 3rd party vendor, and I personally ordered this one. GREAT proportions, even better presentation and the taste did not fall short at all! I did a Roll Combo lunch and it was perfect. Lots of fans among my colleagues and we’ll definitely be keeping Sushi 85 in our line up of catering choices!

Not bad at all for the price you pay! I got a sushi special, and for $ 13 I got a 6 piece spicy tuna roll, 6 piece of california roll, and 6 piece tekka makki. I thought the fish was decent, so I was thrilled to be able to get so much sushi at that price during lunch. I also tried their chicken karage which was really good– recommend getting it. The overall service was soooooo slow. If you ask the waiters for something, chances are they will forget. When we were done, I asked for a box and the check. 5 minutes later, the box came and then 15mins later, I asked for the check again, and waited an additional 5 mins to actually get it. Seriously? I think that’s why the lunch felt longer than it really was. Eh… what can you do when the food is decent though?

I am absolutely disgusted… I came to Sushi 85 to get some lunch with my sister and her boyfriend. They seated us near the back of the restaurant and the kitchen in clear view. Near the end of our lunch, there was a man standing on an open ICE machine that was FULL of ice… with his dirty shoes. That ice machine was where all of the glasses of waters are located when they serve everyone who wants water. This is the third time I’ve been here, I’m definitely not coming back here nor should anyone else

I usually find Unilocal ratings to be pretty accurate but at 3-stars this Sushi 85 is definitely underrated.(I see the rating recently went up a bit but it was at 3 for a long time.) I avoided this Sushi 85 for several years because of the 3-star rating even though I live very close. My family and I tried it about 2 years ago and we have been regulars ever since. A a family we usually get an udon soup and a teriaki chicken bento box for the kids, and miso, salad, and two rolls for the adults. It tastes as fresh as any Unilocal-4-star sushI place I have been to. Servers are always polite and usually very prompt. We haven’t tried the AYCE option because we cannot eat enough to justify the price.

I actually really like this place. The AYCE option is pricier than others, but well worth it if you can finish at least 2 rolls to yourself. They don’t add a shit load of rice like other places which is great. & the sushi rice is very well seasoned. Husband & I came before the dinner rush so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. So everything was fast & prepared nicely. This is the best tasting AYCE option I’ve found in the MV, Sunnyvale, Santa Clare area.

This used to be our regular sushi spot for all you can eat and the best price to quality ratio we have seen anywhere. We moved out of the area 18 months ago and this was my first time back for dinner. Havent found a comparable place anywhere else and was craving some of the food. Was disappointed that it seemed of lesser quality than I remember. Some of my favorite rolls like the Lion King for example didn’t taste the same and out of the fresh fish only the salmon was tasting good. Everything else including the my favorites unagi and hamachi was«off». Also they have raised the price by 5 $ and this is not shown on their webpage. As all you can eat place not worth it for me anymore and as a a carte sushi places there are several better options in the south bay.

I’m a little torn. I think 3 stars is generous, but 2 stars is overly harsh. Allow me to explain: Serving staff there could do to learn a little about how to approach and communicate with their customers. They didn’t even notice my date and I standing in the restaurant until one of the chefs pointed us out. They sat us. Gave us about 30 seconds to look at the menu before asking us if we were ready to order(spoiler alert: we were not). When we had questions about the menu. They were adequately answered after a little prying. But we certainly felt rushed by the staff to hurry up and order even though the restaurant was not crowded at all(probably because they were closing in leas than an hour). Food came. We ordered a Bento Box, Spicy Tuna Roll, and a Specialty Maki Roll(the name escapes me, but it was mixed fish, deep fried, with a wasabi sauce). Miso soup was divine. Very flavorful. Bento box was ordered with Chicken Teriyaki and CA Roll. The salad was a little wilted, but crispy enough. One of the bento box portions was just an orange slice. Then there was rice and the two entre. So it didn’t feel like a great deal considering it was $ 17. The CA rolls were fresh and tasted nice. To be fair, CA rolls are almost impossible to mess up, but credit to the chef where it’s due, they were absolutely stuffed and well rolled. They didnt try to swindle you out of anything with that one. The quality if the chicken was lackluster but the preparation was solid. Not too dry. Very flavorful sauce. The spicy tuna was also very fresh and tasty. It’s my favorite maki roll, so I order it everywhere. I was not disappointed. The deep fried one was also very flavorful. A little smaller than the picture I had seen led me to believe but it tasted great and was well prepared. Ultimately, the food here was above average. The sushi chefs are very good. This place lost points for the following reasons: 1) Sub-par service. Making customers feel rushed and unwelcome 2) There were more than a couple flies in the dining area. Which isn’t a huge deal, but is a little unsettling. 3) The price if the bento box does not reflect the quality nor quantity of it’s contents. Ultimately, felt like an adequate experience. We wanted Japanese cuisine and we got it. We weren’t unsatisfied, but next time we’ll get it somewhere else. There is no shortage of sushi restaurants in this area

2.5 star rating. First to arrive to lunch only to find out they don’t serve the lunch price on weekends for all you can eat. What a bummer. Anyways got hit sake, tea, salad, and miso soup. That was an awesome start to this meal. It starts going downhill as I had to ask for water and tea to be refilled. Lack of ability to check on us frequently regardless of the table with Ayce sushi irked me as well. The sushi was prepared decently as the lion king rolls were difficult to pick up because they’d fall apart. The customer service should have been much better. Overall, I may come here again when none of the great places are open.

Surprised today while waiting for my son who went running with an athlete who will run the Oakland half marathon with my ten year old… my daughter and I stopped here in this outdoor mall for a quick bite. We had exactly 62 minutes to enjoy a short lunch and this little sushi bar hit the spot! About six or seven seats are offered in front of the fresh fish, with maybe ten small tables to the left. I usually find one unusual custom to the restaurant food item on the menu and this place offered a negihama«Capachio», they call it! It was awesome. The miso was good and I ordered a spicy scallop roll! The typical Sriracha sauce base but the orange sauce added was delicious! Fairly priced sushi and lots of appetizers us Japanese food fans love! I’m glad I stopped in this one unplanned.

I really like this place for the most part. I received a gift card from a friend and gave it a shot. We liked it so much we’ve been back a few times. Last time we went it was a Friday night and the rice and the seaweed seemed a little«chewy». Not their typical style, I think it was a one off kind of situation(or at least I hope!) They’re in a big strip mall with a Ranch 99 so parking can get busy, but thus far, we have never had to wait for a table(even on a Friday night at dinner time). I like their choices for sushi and the fact they do all you can eat. I can never actually eat all of that, but it’s cool to have the option if I want to test my limits.

Apparently this is an AYCE joint but me and my pal opted to share three rolls, which was more then enough for us. we ordered: Smoked Dragon Roll — My favorite! Shrimp, crab and salmon? Soooo yummy. I could eat this 100 times over. Spider Man — Another soft shell crab hit. So much was loaded into this roll and the flavor was on point. Philly Roll– A lot more salmon than other places. They really loaded it up! Salad and Miso to start were also very good. Service sucked! We were never checked on. I think I would come back and maybe if I was really hungry… do the AYCE!

Came for the lunch buffet for $ 19.95 and once again, nothing has changed. This place needs help. The service is horrible. It’s almost as if they want you to wait and get full so that they get their money’s worth. They barely check on tables for refills or orders. They messed up our orders of sushi yesterday and they are not well coordinated as a team. I have nothing else to say. The sushi even sucks. Goodbye
