The food is good and cheap. The place is clean and provides free hot or cold water. Definitely a great place if you want to eat something quick for little money.

3.5. Selection at this location is small but it is alright. Friendly workers though very quiet. Ordered the tonkatsu ramen for $ 7 which is interesting since they let u have add as much wakame, bonito flakes, green onion, and… this other. crispy .topping that I do not know the name of. Tasted pretty good, broth a bit salty but it had 3 decently sized pieces of chashu. Wish there was more ramen inside. Nigiri(salmon) tasted alright. I think their fish selection is not as great as the SF one, nor does it taste as good but. I find that weird since it is basically the same branch.

Sugoi!!! Hehee, my inner nerd was spouting out meaningless japanese spazz phrases when I walked into this Nijiya! I wasn’t going to write a review for it or anything since there’s one in Japantown san jose near my place and back home around san francisco ’ s Jtown but this one is out of nowhere, far from my place downtown in a plaza but get this… it has a deli! «Nandeto!» Came here for groceries today after the SJ Japantown one ran out of the sukiyaki broth mix and mushrooms I wanted to use for it. I was really just surprised at the deli they had inside. Tiny, calm and homely it had a different feel compared to mitsua ’ s enormous food court of a food court. the only 5 stars I’ll give any Nijiya branch. Cons: far from downtown Fave items: furikakke

For quick, cheap eats this is the place to go! The food is fresh and taste homemade! You can grab your favorite Japanese meals or snacks! Their prices are also very reasonable! Their sushi is always fresh and I always get their salmon roll! Their squid karage is very tasty! I love how their food is always crispy and never soggy!

Oh Nijiya, I always love you, no matter the location. I’m not in Mountain View often, but after finding out that there was a Nijiya nearby, we of course had to drop by. DELISELECTION. I’m not used to calling Nijiya a deli, but hey, when in Rome. They have an extensive selection of fresh sushi and bento boxes(although if you go before closing on a Sunday, you’re not going to have a fun time). They also have a little stand where they serve freshly prepared karaage, croquettes, and other greasy, delicious treats. THEMARKET. Your usual Nijiya-selection of Japanese snacks, sauces, meats, vegetables, fruits, and more. It’s easy to kill a lot of time in this place just checking out all the cool, imported treats(especially the mochi!). A great neighborhood market, with reasonable prices!

This place is right across the street from 99 Ranch! Perfect place to supplement your Asian pantry! Some things are cheaper here that at 99 Ranch! AMBIANCE// This place looks small, but it is a decent size. SELECTION// They have produce and a refrigerated section with natto and kim chi, fresh meat section that has sushi grade fish, a frozen food section with my fave yoshinoya beef and onion, even a skin care section! Also the prepared food section with prepped sushi and hot meals is awesome! They even have fresh baked goods and mochi. SERVICE// I bought something and at the register they charged me a different price. I told them that it was on sale and there was a sign in the back. I would not have bought it if it was regular price(because I am a cheap ass grad student), which is why I remembered! Even though he couldn’t find the sign he still rang me up as the price I stated. I really appreciate that trust and that type of service is on point! GOODJOBNIJIYA! I will definitely be back.

I guess from a price performance perspective, the deli is a good value, though the food is utility really. Having to make a meeting in a short time i hit up for a quick meal. Ramen and curry. The bowl isnt large, packaged noodles, decent broth and good chasu. Add more bonito flakes to give extra umami. Curry with rice is not super hot so you have to eat quick. It’ll fill you up for not much money. Ambiance is somewhat like eating at Lawson’s in Tokyo; that strange convenience store style. Set your expectations accordingly and it’s a decent meal. 3.5 stars

I found his place when I was getting my wheels fixed and boy this place this a hidden gem. It is not crowded like santouka or any other ramen place I’ve been to. They accept credit cards too! Inexpensive price for a very flavorful bowl of ramen. I ordered Nijiya Chashu Men for $ 8.5 plus tax and it came with extra extra Chashu. The cheapest ramen, Nijiya ramen is $ 6.5 plus tax same as the one I ordered but fewer prices of Chashu. You could even put as much green onions, seaweed, bonito flakes, as you like because the toppings are self serve. I’ll be sure to come back next time I have ramen craving.

Ramen was actually very good. The noodles were a little hard for my liking but I got it to-go so maybe I should have let the noodles sit in the broth longer. The chashu and soft boiled marinated egg it came with was good as well. Great bento selection as others have said.

I was searching for something to eat for dinner, found this place and wow it was so good. My boyfriend and I shared two dishes Nr 1 and Nr 11 on the menu, it was ramen and some kind of seafood pancake both really tasty!

Came by for brunch the other day and was slightly disappointed as the employee told me that ramen would be ready by Noon, or maybe not at all that day due to a «sale» ?!? Vegetable Tempura — Tasty and light. Oil quality was good and this was flavorful.($ 2 each) Chicken Karaage — Okay. This came out slightly cold from the heat lamps and the batter was slightly too thick.($ 7.99/lb) Salmon Roll — Okay. Quality is decent for a grocery store but it appears that they cut the california roll before placing the slices of raw salmon on top. They do have organic soy sauce to go with the sushi.($ 7.99) Ramen — Usually the highlight of my meal here as the noodles are perfectly al dente and the broth is good. There are usually ~3 pieces of Cha Siu along with a runny egg. There are unlimited toppings available at the counter too! They also have an option to do a Cha Siu Ramen w/2x the Cha Siu slices!

What does the most satisfying $ 7 bowl of ramen taste like? Here’s where you find out… The«Nijiya Ramen»(Number 1) comes with three pieces of chasu(pork) and a marinated soft boiled egg that nine times out of ten is cooked to a gooey-runny perfection. I typically order this with an extra egg(extra dollar). The most gratifying aspect of this place other than the great price is how under the radar it is. The absence of hype-induced hipster-crowding, wait staff service, long waits, and pricey add-ons presents a more pleasant and authentic experience. The fresh topping buffet allows you to gratuitously pour on as much sliced green onion, seaweed, bonito flakes white pepper, and five spice as your taste buds desire. I bring a jar of homemade chili oil in to tie the flavor medley together. Alternatively you can purchase their off-shelf chili oil from the grocery aisle. The add-ons really impact the flavor so don’t hold back! I will also shop the store for their packaged fresh ramen and packaged miso for home cooking. Go with the all-natural selections and avoid unnecessary MSG and transfats. What makes this place special is that neither if the other Nijiya market has a hot deli so this is pretty much the only place in the bay for this sort of casual high-value ramen experience.

This is a small deli inside Nijiya supermarket. I go here for great value in ramen and other excellent side dishes. My review is mainly on the ramen, which is what I had every time. My wife and daughter often order udon and beef bowl(beef over rice). As for side dishes, I just eat whatever they order. I have tried croquette, fried calamari, etc. Good prices and delicious. There are only 2 ramen dishes on the menu. Both tonkotsu based. — Nijiya Ramen is only $ 6. It actually comes with cha shu(pork slices) and egg. This is great deal vs other ramen restaurants that charge $ 10 for ramen, with maybe 1 slice of cha shu and no egg. — If you want more meat, order the Cha Shu ramen for couple $ more. The ramen broth is oily and fatty, just the way it should be and how I like it. For those non-traditional folks who don’t like oil/fatty, then this is not for you.

What a hidden gem! There’s a little shop inside nijiya market that sells udon, ramen, soba, and various fried foods. I came here after hiking rancho San Antonio park, and inhaled the warm udon and sweet, vegetable croquette. The kakiage udon(#7: pan fried vegetable and seafood pancake on top of udon; $ 5) was good. Just know that it will start to taste a little greasy at some point. My mom and aunt both got the sansai; 1 soba and 1 udon($ 4 each). It’s pretty much vegetable soup and is quite refreshing. The main reason we came here was for the croquette and it is worth the $ 1.50… So cheap! And it’s self serve, so no need to tip ;) the croquette itself is nice and crispy on the outside and the inside is filled with soft and sweet yet savoury potato as well as a few other veggies(corn and carrot). Delicious! I’d recommend trying it… especially after a nice hike :)
