Pros: Quick service, friendly service Cons: Expensive«specials». Lamb is fairly good, but the rice is a bit bland and veggies are a bit too oily. Menu could be a bit more diverse and extensive. Bottom line: Would return, but not immediately.

Do a good deed tonight: feed a homeless Mountain Viewer dinner at Mediterranean Grill on Castro. Why? Read on, dear philanthropist! The falafel, marinated & roasted beef or chicken shawerma, tabouleh, dolmas and baba ganoush are all basic & filling, if not taste sensations. Hummus is rather thin, and I was frankly disappointed in the cream sauce-that-could-be-tzatziki-if-only-it-had-some-cucumber-taste-but-it-doesn’t. The $ 2 baklava makes a delicate flaky dessert. Where Mediterranean Grill shines is Portion Size. The dishes are uniformly huge, enough to feed a village or one starving Google coder. In terms of calories per buck(cal/$), it can’t be beat!

Love this little place. Been here a total of 5 times. And love it everything. The portions are big and the food very good.

They’re certainly not bad, but not great either. There are a lot of cheap options, which is great. The cashier was a bit rude though, got snippy with me and the line cooks.

MGH is one of my go-to restaurants whenever I’m downtown(which is not terribly often), and for good reason. I usually get either the chicken or beef & lamb schawerma plate, which is a lot of food for one person, and yet I have a difficult time saving any to take home because it’s so tasty(especially with their hot sauce, which I find extremely addicting). In regards to customer service: Once I handed them a $ 20 and was searching in my wallet for one more dollar and some change that I owed, but the cashier said not to worry about it and called it good. Another time we were handed cups(without us asking) and were told that we could get soda, even though we said we’d just have water and didn’t pay any extra. I do agree with some other reviewers that the cashiers don’t always smile or give off the friendliest vibe when you walk in the door, but I’m willing to overlook that out of appreciation for the fact that they aren’t gonna trip over a couple dollars if you are a(semi-)regular customer like me. If anything, that counts for way more in my book than getting a fake bubbly smile.

Hummus & price is on point. I’ve had #9& #10 here before and their rice to meat proportion is perfect!

I wasn’t impressed with the food, except the falafel which was pretty good. But the place is cheap! I got a veggie plate which was a lot of food for $ 10.

I find Mediterranean food, although meat centric, has relatively healthy options for vegetarians. Although MGH has a limited veg menu, only three options stood out, the food was great. I had the eggplant and falafel in a spinach wrap, and the balance between the dry and wet ingredients left my mouth quite pleased.

I got this food delivered. Which is always hit or miss. But their flavors are delicious. The falafel is amazing with a sweet little hint. Grape leaves are delicious(with what tastes like a little mint?) Hummus, baba g, Mediterranean salad is delicious. Really amazed by this place! Best Mediterranean I’ve had in ages.

I post on behalf of my colleagues, as I manage catering for my company. Mediterranean Grill House was well received for our group order last Wednesday. People liked the tastes and the portions, and I enjoyed the presentation of food for catering services. Overall, great quality and healthy portions. We have been high end taste for Mediterranean food, with DishDash, so Mediterranean Grill House did a great job impressing a picky crowd :)!! I would recommend holding off on adding Dolma to your dishes though. Unless specifically ordered, this is an acquired taste most do not possess. So when you add this to a plate where someone is not familiar they think the food is bad because it’s bitter! Just a thought!!!

Great food. Decent sitting area. I usually buy falafel wrap, spinach tortia, which is very good n quite filling. However, this time i wanted something light n ordered kids veggie plate but i was told i can buy that only i m accompanied by a kid, which i found strange.

As a huge falafel fan, the falafels could’ve been better, BUT the bread was top notch. Hummus wasn’t too overpowering and the food had a clean, simple feel. Lamb was a bit salty, but it combined well with the hummus. We didn’t have any coins on us(our bill came out to ~$ 20.65) and the lady who worked there kindly said we could keep the change. Would definitely recommend this place!

Chicken/Beef & Lamb Shawarma — Meh. «Shawarma» is expected to be a chicken/lamb meat shaved of a rotating roaster, rather than warmed up sliced meat. usually it is also filled with tomato/cucumber/onion salad and parsley while this one ended up with lettuce. it doesn’t even remind the taste of a real shawarma wrap. Falafel wrap — OK. this is my favorite — the taste is OK, the falafel seasoning is fine — i would love to get a little bit more falafel balls in the wrap. Overall the wraps are not too stuffed which makes them overpriced compared to a Burrito in «Los-Charros» or a similar dish at «Oren’s Humus», both places a few blocks from there. Customer service — Clearly they are not the kindest staff in the world but the service is fast and productive, also i usually take out so that doesn’t matter much.

Don’t come here if customer service is a high priority for you. The food is better elsewhere as well. When ordering, the tall woman at the register clearly showed a high lack of customer service or care for what she is doing. She gives off an attitude that she hates her job and is only there because her family probably owns it. I ordered the falafel plate which was overcooked on the outside, and tasteless on the inside. The inside had zero flavor. All you tasted was the overcooked, almost burnt exterior. My girlfriend got the shawarma plate which was decent. What really caused me to not want to come here again was the tall woman’s attitude when I asked to use the restroom. She pointed to a flashlight with a lanyard attached and said that was the key, and proceeded to give me directions to the bathroom in a very condescending tone, which was unwarranted. When I started walking the wrong way to the restroom, she raised her voice at me and proceeded to correct me with an even louder condescending tone. Quite frankly, she’s a bitch and doesn’t represent her family’s business in a professional manner. Even if their food was great(which it isn’t) they don’t deserve your money. There are plenty of other places in the area which offer better Mediterranean food, with good service worthy of your time and hard earned money.

Found this place through Unilocal and decided to try it because I sure do love my Mediterranean food! I walked in and the guy taking my order was kinda like that really cool uncle that you know is going to take care of you. Hahaha! Customer service is on point, very clean and spacious to eat, and the food. OMG don’t get me started on the food!!! Hahah highly recommend! I got the #4 because I love the wraps with lots of meat

We came here with a group after HH. I wasn’t up for a full dinner and was kind of turned off by the MTV prices so we only got hummus and pita. The hummus is too rich for me, lots of olive oil. May or may not be back for a full meal.

I’ve eaten here before and remember it being very tasty. Not sure what happened on my recent visit. I had the beef/lamb shwarma wrap and couldn’t taste the lamb at all(if there was any in it). Made me sad as the only reason I had come was because of a mad lamb craving. Maybe I should have ordered the lamb kebabs instead so at least I’d be guaranteed to have lamb. Also had the baklava, which was quite good. The wrap was very disappointing so if I come back it will just be for the falafal(which I’ve had) and the baklava. Ordered takeout and service was fast.

This place is GOOOOD. We went in as a group of six and ordered pretty much everything on the menu. The Chicken Shawarma and the Veggie Delight really stood out for me in particular. I also thought their Falafels were really well-made and delicious, so getting a falafel plate to share would be a great choice as well! The service is very good, the food is pretty affordable, and you’re required to order and pay before you get served. I’d definitely drop by here again when I’m around the Mountain View area.

I come here so often that I haven’t bothered to review this place till now. With my workplace being on Castro Street, I have a lot of options for lunch. What keeps bringing me back to Mediterranean Grill is the quality of the food and the price. The fact that it’s a 30 second walk from my workplace might have something to do with it, too. My go-to dish is the chicken shawarma plate($ 9.99). It comes with a generous amount of chicken, rice, pita bread, your choice of salad(Mediterranean salad or tabbouleh), and hummus or baba ghanoush. I always go with the tabbouleh and hummus. Both are consistently fresh, and the tabbouleh here is the standard by which I measure other places by. When a restaurant caters large batches of food, quality often suffers. However, I’m glad to say that whenever Mediterranean Grill caters to my workplace, the quality is as excellent as ever. Quality and consistency are the hallmarks of the place!

We’ve been here twice for lunch and the food here is good. Both times, I’ve ordered the Beef and Lamb Shwarma Platter with Hummus and Cucumber and Yogurt Salad. The shwarma was nicely seasoned with spices and sliced in nice, bite-size pieces and placed on plain white rice. Hummus can be bland in some places, but the hummus here is not. They give you a very generous portion of it and it comes with warm pita slices as well. The cucumber and yogurt salad is nice and refreshing, pairing really well with the beef and lamb shwarma I’ve seasoned with the house hot sauce. My husband ordered the same thing I did, and my sister ordered the Chicken Shwarma. She enjoyed her food as well. The weather in Mountain View has been pretty much fantastic every day this summer, so we always eat outdoors when we come here. They have several tables outside and umbrellas to shield you from the sun. This is not a full service restaurant, so order at the counter and grab a table outside and enjoy your meal.
