Every time I come here to get a clam chowder in a bowl to go, the clam chowder is never filled to the top of the bread bowl, more like half way! I even asked if they can pour it in the bread bowl instead of a cup so it can get filled to the top and they refused. I’m just trying to get the full meal and not half. Not to mention when I got it today the lady grabbed the last bit of soup which was practically like water. So runny and I don’t want to eat it. Disgusting!!!

Consistent, clean, good location in downtown mv. Not the fastest but not extremely slow either… Maybe just depends on time of day.

It’s a sandwich. It isn’t that difficult. So why is this the only location that lacks consistency? Seriously. The sandwiches(with no substitutions) are never the same. I cannot eat toasted bread on sandwiches — it tears up my mouth. So, I order from the cold sandwich menu to avoid this. I usually order the ALT and now have to specify the bread not toasted. Cool. Done — even though I get told«That sandwich doesn’t get toasted,». yeah, thanks, I know but y’all insist on it every now and then(which I don’t say, that would be rude). Sometimes I order the Classico and I have never had the bread toasted. Ever. until today. I don’t know if someone thought they were doing me a favor because it’s cold outside or what, but follow the recipe cards! On top of random bread toasting(which sounds like a first world problem, I know, but my mouth is raw for at least two days.) they sometimes forget basic things. No spread on a sandwich. No lettuce sometimes. It’s just… I don’t know. How? How can you forget those things? I’m sad this place is so close to my work. Maybe I should just stick to soups.

The place is huge. Plenty of seating and walls lined with comfy padded bench seating THATALSOHASPOWEROUTLETSATEACHTABLE. :) The food was good and not expensive, although they lost the one star because they are slow Place was pretty empty we were only ones ordering at the time). Two simple sandwiches took a long time to be ready, but we weren’t in a hurry and they don’t make you sit around and wait, they give you the little table buzzer to let you know when food is ready. There was free wifi that had decent speed. This will most likely be my Mountain View hangout spot.

I walked in ordered a Butternut Squash soup to go and ended up getting the Chile n sausage soup. Lesson learnt — remember to check the item before you leave.

«Meh. I’ve experienced better» is exactly right. As other reviewers have pointed out, this place is run by a bunch of slowpokes(okay fine, maybe they were a little understaffed). But when the kid taking orders at the counter disappears into the kitchen for five minutes at a time, we customers aren’t exactly too thrilled. So I ordered some sandwich(some portabella melt). When I finally got my sandwich, I was pretty disappointed. It was expensive for how small it was, and besides the bread(the only redeeming factor of my entire visit to this place), it was not very good at all. I vaguely recall ordering some sort of espresso beverage and it not being very good either. It also doesn’t help that the day after I ate here, I became quite ill and spent half a day vomiting. My illness could have been totally unrelated to eating here, but nonetheless, it lessened my desire to ever return again.

Great location! I come here often for some quick morning breakfast and coffee. If I’m out for an afternoon run, their sandwiches are really good. Staff is really nice and pleasant. The recently remodeled the bathrooms and added more stalls. I would recommend to anyone. I only gave 4 stars because the food takes a while sometimes and sometimes they run out of coffee materials(refill of the half and half or coffee lids-). Very minor complaints. I would recommend for breakfast and lunch.

Don’t be in a rush. Ordered the kid a Nutella and Banana sandwich. Prettily sure they grew he banana. Amazing how some places just seem to take forever for no good reason. They were not busy, just plain slow it seems. The breads look good, but why wait? I just can’t figure some things out

Le Boulanger is a great place to have brunch or lunch. I’ve been here a couple times and is good if you’re not looking for some primo stuff. The food is pretty average but it’s really not that bad. They have a good clam chowder bread bowl since they specialize in baked goods. Come here for the bread if you’re looking for something good!

Here’s the thing about Le Boulanger, it’s not amazing but it’s good. I don’t come here much but I had to leave a jewelry repair across the street and wanted to sit and have something warm. Starbucks was crowded so I came here and got a cup of butternut squash soup and half a Margherita sandwhich. It was a good sandwhich on nice bread and the soup was yummy. I had a clean spot to sit by the window and BONUS free sample of blueberry coffee cake. I prefer Le Boulanger to Panera and Specialties. The food is fresher and the bread is better. Also, I’m not really a soda drinker but their machine is super fancy.

I like a lot the machine for soft drinks. I had problems with the wi fi. Excellent sandwiches and service; I would put decorations for Christmas like a Christmas tree.

Opens at 6 am everyday, Sunday at 7 am. Croissant: choco, almond Breakfast sandwiches: Florentine, ham cheese. Their French pastry selection is a little disappointing for a place named Le bou. This place is not quick.

Came here for lunch. I like the location of the store. Being that it’s part of downtown Mountain View, it’s a nice area, great weather, good place to just sit and chat with a friend and there’s plenty of things to do afterwards. The place is large and there’s plenty of seating, both inside and out. The food came out fairly quickly and was all delicious. The reason why I only gave this place 3 stars is because I came here with a specific order in mind. I had looked at the menu beforehand, and wanted to get the Reuben sandwich. When I ordered it, they said they didn’t have the Reuben anymore. Ok… so I wanted to get the bay shrimp melt sandwich. They didn’t have that either. Which I found strange being that I had just looked online about 15 minutes prior to coming which is the only reason why I came anyway. One of the cashiers(I think she was a manager), said that this was one of the test stores that was trying an alternate version of the menu. I think the concept is fine, but to corporate, don’t advertise your entire menu if not all the items are available at certain locations. I ended up settling for a pastrami sandwich as well as a cup of the french onion soup(soup of the day.) I got the wrong soup(clam chowder) instead, but that was an easy fix. Other than the initial disappoint I had with this place, the rest of my experience was pretty pleasant.

This place is alright. Price is reasonable and service is okay. Parking could be a problem, but I worked a few blocks away, so I’d just walk there. I usually ordered a bunch of stuff for our office, and they tend to forget something. But it’s not a huge problem, I’d just call them to tell them they forgot something and they’d replace it, no problem. Overall, good sandwich/soup place :) The people working there sometimes look a little tired, but it’s not a problem. I’m not sure if I’d come back, Castro has a lot of other food to offer… But I guess if you’re craving sandwich/soup, it’s a good place to go to :)

I mean, honestly, it’s as solid as any other Le Boulanger you’ll find. I come here once a week(at least) for lunches and nothing has ever gone wrong with my orders. All the sandwiches are identical, fresh, and tasty every time I get them. All the soups come with a cute little roll of bread. Nothing is ever amiss here. This place runs like a well oiled croissant-baking, sandwich-making machine. The orders come relatively quickly unless there’s a severe lunch rush. There’s an adorable old man working the register — I think he’s a manager — during the lunch rush, and all of the employees are helpful if you’re indecisive about your choices. I usually get the omelette sandwiches, which are served all day, because they’re cheaper(and I am a frugal, frugal girl). At $ 5.85, any of the omelette sandwiches make a good, hefty meal. They had a healthy New Year 50% off a daily healthy special for the past two weeks and I really enjoyed trying many items which I normally wouldn’t bother with, including various salads and veggie sandwiches. They were surprisingly delicious! If you’re willing to withstand ~$ 8 sandwiches and walking past a window display filled with tempting pastries, I’d say this is a pretty darn decent place to grab a sandwich and some soup around Mountain View. If you eat here often like me, make sure you ask for the Le Boulanger club card! Why not get rewards for your coffees/sandwiches, anyway?

I’ve been having breakfast here for 3 consecutive days so I can safely comment on their morning spread. My favorite item is the vegetable medley omelet sandwich which consist of an omelet with vegetables, cheese and avocado sandwiched between 2 slices of perfectly toasted sourdough bread! I was skeptical initially because I tend to stay away from the vegetarian options. However, this humble sandwich was surprisingly good. Other items(mostly average) — Ham, cheese and Egg omelet in a croissant. Too salty for me. — Just plain ol’ croissant. They didn’t even heat it up :(so it wasn’t that good. — Banana walnut muffin. Pretty decent and a huge portion too! I guess all you really need is 1 hit to make up for the other average items! 4 stars to the vegetable medley omelet sandwich that saved the day! PS: Despite it claiming to be a free wifi café. It’s quite a hassle to login to their wifi. It is provided by a 3rd party company which insists that you surrender your facebook/twitter details before granting you access to the internet. Ridiculous! I hope Le Boulanger will provide their customers with a better wifi system than this soon.

… more like Le Sigh. Changing it to three-stars because they stopped their«free bread of the month» perk for reward card members(That was the best part of getting a rewards card!!) Change took effect: February or March 2013

Don’t get fresh with me, son. Oh wait, you’re talking about sandwiches? Well, then by all means. Fresh is good. And what can be fresher than a California Fresh sandwich? That’s my new Le Boulanger favorite, and it’s fresh indeed with sliced turkey, avocado, jack cheese, onion, lettuce and tomato, between two halves of freshly-baked Dutch crunch bread. So good that it doesn’t need sauce, though mayonnaise and dijon mustard come by default. For $ 7.75 you get all that and a bag of chips. Plus a pickle slice. The chips aren’t anything to get excited about though. It’s a half-ounce bag of Lay’s with like 5 chips inside. I didn’t even know they came in such small sizes. Like those tiny«fun size» candy bars that get passed around on Halloween, it’s fun only if you have a perverse sense of fun, like giving a kid a new bike and letting him ride it for only 20 seconds. But I digress… Plenty of seating and pleasing décor are the mark of this bakery. If you’re looking for a quick bite and something healthy, Le Boulanger offers prices that are reasonable compared to full-service places along Castro Street. No frills, but if there’s one thing they do really well, it’s making a tasty sandwich that you won’t feel guilty about eating.
