I frequent many bars out here in the peninsula. This is one of my favorite bars. The guys behind the counter(Chang, Matt and Bill) are great guys that serve some great drinks. It is definetly worth the time and travel!

This is a Hidden Gem dive bar with an excellent trivia night on Monday. The bartender’s choice shots are fun and cheap. They make a different one every time you order and all three of the shots that I ordered were strong and tasty. Hopefully this place doesn’t close down. It has a small town modest feel which is a vacation from techie pretentiousness that surrounds/consumes the area.

Fred’s is our go to weekend spot. It’s a bit divey but that’s perfect and very comfortable for our group. They’ve got plenty of TVs, a pool table, dart board and juke box which is everything we need. We’ve been there many times now and it’s never disappointed. Fred’s will continue to be our spot to grab a drink and hang out.

Not your average«Dive» Bar! Fred’s is a fantastic place to enjoy drinks and great people! The regulars here are a group of fantastic people who welcome anyone who walks through the door with huge smiles! The staff are always friendly and the drinks are generous! Pool Table, Darts, Jukebox and TV’s to watch our local sports teams! Personally I’m here on any of the following days but any day is a good day to visit Fred’s! Mondays for Trivia with DJBKR of BKR Productions, Inc. Thursdays for Karaōke with Brian James Saturdays for Good Times with Good Peeps

I love Fred’s Place. It is a local hole-in-the-wall dive bar and it is great. The bar tenders are friendly and the regulars are an eclectic group of nice interesting people. Trivia and karaōke nights are fun. If you are reading this you definitely should check this place out.

Mikey is cute! And trivia and karaōke are the best! Really fun time and a great welcoming casual place to meet with friends. Pool tables are rare in the peninsula. Gotta love these guys.

Fred’s Place is your dream dive bar for five reasons: 1. The pours are generous(like double shot size for the price of one) AND they have pitchers! 2. YOU have control of the music. $ 5 in the jukebox will get you at least 30 minutes of music. The selections are endless: Backstreet boys, Glee, Christmas music. They have it all. 3. Pool table and darts. 4. Plenty of seating all around. 5. The lighting! You can actually see the people you are with! It is the perfect place for a hangout on Friday night. Look forward to visiting again soon!

I recently moved to Palo Alto, and discovered Fred’s after doing some research on a good place to chill out after work. Turns out I found exactly what I was looking for. Fred’s is a super laid back place with great German and local beers on tap, a crew of super friendly regulars, and an owner named Paul who has a way of making everyone feel super comfortable. Fred’s has an «old school vibe» that is sorely lacking at the upscale watering holes downtown. I’ve only been here two weeks and this has already become my after work pit stop. Give this place try if you’re in the area… you won’t be disappointed!

Talk about a hidden gem. This place is AWESOOOOOOMEEEEE, Paul is a legend. The trivia night is so fun. Make sure to make it out to at least one. The staff is always playful and funny. They have tons of entertainment options and its always a great place to get a great craft beer and a game.

Come to this bar to unwind and just straight up chill. Play some pool, some darts, some fooseball, and drink the day/night away. Definitely give it a try!

Great bar, has everything: neighborhood vibe, Monday night trivia(Thanks, BKR Productions!), karaōke Thursdays and Sundays… real bartenders who know their stuff. Fun and chill but leave the kids at home.

Great place with friendly bartenders. Unlike most other bars, they have the beer prices all listed on the blackboard. They also do fun things like trivia on Monday nights and karaōke on Thursdays. Nice overall atmosphere and usually pretty quiet, but can also get crowded at times

This a dive bar with great depth:) Personal service and attention you get from at bar is second to none. Paul is the best! I love the music they have in the juke box…

Truth be told, there is no other bar like Fred’s. A place you can come to unwind, have a conversation, learn something new(careful who you talk to!), or tie one on. Awesome clientele, friendly people strong pours. Come on down because your other favorite bar fails in comparison.

Last night, we stood at the bar for 5 minutes waiting to be served. Eventually walked over to the bartender who was sitting at the end of the bar asked to be served. He verbally abused us and told us to leave because we were being pushy. I was shocked at his behaviour, but decided to take the high road and go elsewhere. As we were walking out he continued to keep abusing us. I’ve been there before and had an OK experience, but this particular bartender took a strong exception to us. It certainly ruined our mood and I would not recommend going there when that gentleman is working. I’m also planning on calling the owner, he or she should be aware of this incident,

Have given it another chance and things are much better there now. Chang actually seems to be making an effort and you actually do feel welcome by him now. He even remembers people’s drink choices(at least he does mine now). I was a little put off recently by the yokel from Ohio at the bar who was ranting about ‘Pakis’ and ‘those dirty blacks’ and ‘all the Asians’ messing things up for him here in Silicon Valley. Several other partrons were clearly unhappy with his racism, but the bartender didn’t do a thing, in fact he actually nodded along in agreement with him at some points. Not cool, not cool at all. He should have done what a competent bartender would have done: driven the loudmouth’s conversation elsewhere and if that didn’t work, tell him to put a lid on it. Just have to avoid that bartender.

It doesn’t look much like a bar from the street; more like a vacuum repair shop. And the neighborhood is really odd: it’s an older, industrial area tucked into a side pocket of northern Mountain View. But even though French is definitely not spoken here, Fred’s does have a certain ‘je nais se quoi’ going for it. It has a reasonably good beer list, a good jukebox, strong drinks, and the prices are easy on the wallet. Plus the staff and most clientele are pretty laid back. There seem to be a lot of regulars here, so the place never feels too lonely and sad. But it is most definitely a dive. I’ve even gone so far as to bring my out-of-town customers and work associates here; and they freeking LOVE the place. Why? — I think it’s a welcome change from all the pretentious spots on University Ave., the sterility of the hotel bars, and all those ‘nice, upscale spots’ found throughout Silicon valley. This is a place that’s been here awhile; a place to go drink, let your hair down, and not be judged. Plus they have a pool table that isn’t always in use — perfect for when you have a buzz going; maybe not so perfect when you’ve had too many. It’s not all peaches and cream: – Some of the beer taps are mislabeled — they don’t always carry everything shown. – Every time I order a Guinness and point to the tap, they go to the back and bring it back in 20 seconds(WTF?); Guinness done right should be a two-pour process and take a lot longer. – Stay past 8 pm on a Friday and you’ll see some seriously hammered people, and some sketchy clientele will begin to come out of the woodwork. But that doesn’t mean I won’t return…

There were some shady charachters in this establishment as expected. Drinks were cheap and Kareoke was painfully terrible. Honestly was not that bad for a 12AM stop.

I’d like to meet the real Fred someday. I have a feeling he’s a cool dude. So people call this place a «dive bar,» but it’s really not that divey. I go to Fred’s fairly often after work with coworkers, and I always feel comfortable there(even in a group of all women). It’s an unassuming joint from the outside, but it’s decently clean and comfortable inside. It has a very«local» vibe, and the people are friendly enough. The best part — drinks are cheap. They usually come out to about $ 5 a drink, which is mighty fine by me.
