Francesca’s has changed ownership and it’s now O’Malleys Sports Pub. It’s still in the same location. Look for the green and black O’Malley’s sign instead of the white Francesca’s sign that is visible from the road. All the staff is the same, including the bartenders(which are some of the best drink mixers I know) and drink selections are the same, including the amazing craft beer selection. The biggest changes are a complete makeover of the interior, upgraded sound and video system, more TV’s have been added, a third pool table was brought in, and the kitchen is now open daily for lunch and dinner items(sandwiches, burgers, appetizers etc.) It’s not really a «dive» bar anymore. You can expect to have good drinks, food and service coming here and you’ll probably meet some new friends. I always have a good time here.

Stars are for Francesca’s. As of April 2014 the bar has been sold to Herb Lavender and renamed O’MALLEYSSPORTSPUB.

My fiancé and I came in for my birthday(March 8th). We drove from Sacramento just to be at this bar cause they had Yuengling on hand. It’s hard to find lets just say that. I felt very welcomed and the bartenders and the owner are good people. I will def be back again when I need more Yeungling. Thanks again for making it a memorable birthday.

I’ve only been here after work, so can’t vouch for the evening/weekend scene. Very friendly dive-bar. in fact maybe a notch up from ‘dive bar’. Good selection of craft beers and some pretty decent wines too. good prices as well. A guy operates a food truck out back(as far as i can figure out); and you can order food after 5pm. some very interesting, creative food items, well-priced too. One item that’s outstanding is the curry popcorn! It sounds awful i know, but the stuff is to die for. at $ 2 you have to at least give it a try!

Francesca’s just doesn’t make any sense, and yet that’s the reason why I like this place. It’s sandwiched between auto repair garages on Old Middlefield. Needless to say, this is a place you’d really have to seek out. But, the reason that this bar is such a conundrum is the beer menu. Although technically a dive bar, Francesca’s has an outstanding craft beer program, with about 20 taps of excellent brews from both coasts. The last time I was there, they had beers from Bear Republic, Dogfish Head, The Bruery and Green Flash. Not only is the selection great, the pricing is cheaper than most places. I am told that the food here is pretty good, too. I’ll have to try next time and report back Entertainment consists of all the usual sports bar trappings: pool tables, darts and flat panels showing whatever game is currently on. They also have a nice projector and screen for the marquee event of the day. Staff is extremely friendly and can answer questions about the beer menu. I am glad to see more and more places taking a serious interest in serving American craft beer. Francesca’s is definitely a hidden gem. The question is for how long?

My friend suggested this place for a drink because he heard they serve yuengling. That they do! So, if you have this intense craving, this place is for you. It’s a very divey place and even though we showed up at like six pm on a Sunday night there were several pretty drunk people in there who were being annoying. One drunk guy walked up and started talking to me even though it was clear I didn’t want to. We had the bbq sandwich and that was good. The kitchen is separate from the bar so you have to order food at a separate part of the bar. They do take discover and there’s a lot out front.

Has such a great beer selection with a variety of styles. I stuck mostly with the double IPAs. Also sell Pliny the Elder by the bottle, which was great to take home.

Im not the biggest fan of Francescas. I come here from time to time after work when coworkers want to grab a low-key drink. A VERY low key drink. This is definitely a dive. This is where you find regulars… at 4pm. The place is dark on the inside(which is the main reason I am not a huge fan of the place). During games they project the happenings on a big screen. $ 4 well drinks and $ 5 for a jack and coke. They have quite a number of beers for you to choose from. I have only seen the kitchen open once in all the times Ive been there, so dont expect to get food here.

Cute little local place. The bartender made a fantastic Bloody Mary to my friend’s specifications. It was too spicy for me, but I will definitely return to try them again. Seemed like there were a lot of regulars, but this just made for better entertainment. The music was blaring(they have an awesome jukebox), the other patrons were incredibly vocal and lively, overall I had a great time with my friend. Since the place was fairly empty(early on a Saturday evening), they decided that pool was on the house. It was great, my friend and I were able to play four rounds without getting kicked off.

The bar itself and the beer selection don’t make sense together, but that’s part of Francesca’s charm. The bar is almost run down, but they have a great selection of craft beers on tap that’s always changing. Great place to hang out with your friends if you’re looking for a mellow night with some good brews.

1st Unilocal review! Felt the need to do justice to one of my neighborhood gems… As a bar, Francesca’s embodies that good ol’ fashioned, all-accepting, shots-for-your-neighbors kind of bar, especially during football games. If you were to come here regularly, or even just once in awhile, you’ll end up with some new friends. My boyfriend and I started visiting on Sundays to watch the Bills game(he found aforementioned new friends out of pity for a bad season…). Highlights: ~GREAT beer selection, reasonable prices(as a San Francisco transplant, a beer less than $ 7 feels like cheating…) ~A charming new chef who has taken up the Kitchen at Francesca’s as a culinary creation incubator– a classically trained chef, he currently has a food truck that frequents MV and makes appearances at Off the Grid in SF. The menu at this sports bar has all the favorites(note: 6 variations of grilled cheese), with just the right amount of gourmet twist. Try the seasoned fries with the trio of dipping sauces, you will not be disappointed. Stop by Francesca’s– make friends, drink beer, eat good food, go home happy… regardless of your team’s standing.

This is a bar for the hard core, old school bar patrons. If youre here at 11am on a constant basis, then that’s the drinking methodology you need to fit in. Ive been here many times but because in the back they used to house Uncle Frank’s BBQ. Theyve had a number of other good and bad food symbiotic establishments since then but the scenario remains the same. You get food in one place and you saddle up to the bar to get your drinks. Some workers are friendly some indifferent. I guess that’s the charm of this place.

A nice place to grab a little after-work happy hour or to catch a game. Have not had the bar food yet and have only gone on a weekday. Pros: ~ Awesome Beer Selection ~ Busy, but not too busy. Getting a drink doesn’t take 10 minutes and there’s plenty of people around to start a conversation with. ~ Can be seen as a dive, but they put money into the bar to make it feel comfortable rather than divey. ~ Cool bartenders. Will let you sample any beer and they do not expect ridiculous tips. Mine gave me my beer free cause he spilled some over the side of my glass. Cons: ~Some of the TVs were on the fritz. Not a huge deal, but there’s a slightly chance you are sitting in the wrong area and can’t watch the sports on a good TV. ~Only 1 restroom for the gents and it doesn’t have a big troth. If you’re willing to get friendly you maybe able to squeeze 3 dudes in to piss. Was not an issue when I was there, but I could see it being one on a busier night.

Excellent beer selection and a well-stocked bar. Pretty much all you need, right? But wait! There’s more! Beer pong, pool table, televisions, and mellow patrons! Stopped in for a shot and a beer on my birthday, and I’m glad I did. I dare to say that it’s basically«the perfect bar,» but then again that could just be the«birthday shot and a beer afterglow» talking. The place is noticeably clean(but still appropriately dimly-lit as good bars should be), the bartender was friendly(as they all should be as well), and the drink prices were good. Looking forward to spending some after-work happy hours there and having some food next time, too. It certainly doesn’t hurt that one of my favorite taquerias is right next door, too. I had to deduct one star because the bar supports the Steelers. I’m an Eagles fan. But that doesn’t mean I won’t come have a good time at Francesca’s!

Mike, Chris, and Franny are probably the best restaurant/bar owners I’ve ever met. Our friendship started in the summer of 2012 when our humble dodgeball league was looking for a sponsor bar for our league to come get discounted food/drinks, to hang out and party after a fun day of dodgeballin’. After many attempts at other so called, «sports bars,» we were all but losing hope and pretty discouraged. Alas, we came upon Francesca’s; spoke to Mike, Chris, Franny, and well, the rest is history. State of the art Jukebox(never seen a jukebox that was so techie), pool tables, dart board, and if you want to play beer pong, flip cup or any other drinking games, then they’ll pull out the tables for you and you can go at it all night! An establishment is only good as it’s owners; Mike, Chris, and Franny are pretty awesome, and just generous human beings in general. Thank you guys for all the support the past year! And letting me fulfill my dreams of doing a striptease on a bar. AHAHAHA

This place is so great! Not overly crowded, great selection of beer. Bar food is actually really good, including 12+ flavors of wings(boneless and bone-in). Jukebox, pool table, nice folks. They have an outdoor patio but they don’t have the proper license yet to allow you to drink out there :(I would say get that license and they’re up to 5 stars for an after-work happy hour spot in my book. Bonus: right next to a taqueria with awesome tacos.

This review is for Thursday Karaōke Night!!! This bar has a great positive atmosphere, and the sleazeball is at a minimum. It’s definitely a «dive» so don’t expect anything trendy or high-tech, just expect to have a great, casual time. The bartender is one of the most relaxed and up-beat I’ve ever met. The karaōke regulars are DEFINITELY the most positive bar-goers I’ve ever met. Everyone cheers whoever goes on stage to sing, and people will sing and dance along if they know the song. Most people are in their 20s but there are some older folks that will saunter up to the stage and blow your mind(I’m looking at you, sequined vest dude who sings the hell out of Motown!) Food from the kitchen(served till 10 or 11pm) pretty good and diverse for a bar. You can order a Montecristo! PROS: — Power metal singer karaōke DJ(Yup.) — Karaōke DJ will conduct random dance parties between singers(Yup!) — Positive atmosphere — Supportive karaōke crowd — Great bar kitchen — Taqueria next door open late — Drinks get cheaper the more often you go(Really!) — Clean bathroom CONS: — Karaōke catalog needs a little updating ;) — Interior seems to be undergoing some sort of construction?

It is listed correctly as it is a dive bar. Nothing special but if you stop in for a drink, you’ll get a good one(just don’t ask for anything fancy) and they seem to stock almost everything. This is not the place you go on a date, but it is the place to meet a friend or group to have a game of pool or if a band is playing. It’s on my way home so that’s my reason for the occasional drop in.

OMG Yikes… I am a huge fan of divy murder bars… Super scary… lol…nothing good about francesca’s…Nice enough folks… I guess… I like the non-window, wood paneling… toy grabber game… by the door… I had high hopes for this as a dive,…but this was skevy even for my foul tastes… The amazing thing… IT’S BEENTHEREFOREVER???

Pretty easy to miss being on an open stretch of Middlefield road but you’re not really missing much. Yeah, it looks promising on the outside with a divey look but the cast of characters lacks the chain smoking, been here since 9am type of regulars. There’s no depth, no snarkiness, no personality. I guess the Unilocal equivalent would be having grade A5 Wagyu beef and then making a well done meatloaf out of it. Four beers on tap, with two pool tables($.75), and the Gipsy Kings being the most played band on their jukebox equals 2.5 stars.
