Foss Heating & Cooling

My husband got these people to come out to install a new branch on a propane line from our furnace to our dryer. When I heard about a 100.00 charge just to bid a job I was worried they were greedy. We are moving the a new house and since things were getting complicated and pricey we did not have the energy to get a second bid (and didn’t want to waste that 100.00)… The worker came out and bid the job, and my husband agreed. Unfortunately it cost over 1000.00 and this job should have been hundreds less. I realize he could have said nope to the bid but when you are already in for 100.00 and sort of over a barrel for time it feels very much like a huge rip off.
After I saw the bill, I called some other plumbers with a description of the job, and they felt half that would be about normal for the length of pipe run, and to find out if there were some extenuating circumstances. Called Foss to complain and they just blew us off.
The guy who called me to «explain» the bill said the worker had 4 hours work into the job… but that includes all their travel (I figure the 99.00 «bid» fee should have covered that; probably 45 minutes total travel. They arrived around 8:30 am and I had a copy of the invoice by 12:15…that was after the person left and had been paid, and my husband forwarded a copy to me. The only difficult part of the job was doing a crawl space. isn’t that pretty much expected?
Of all the tradespeople and businesses we are using to get our new house together, this one stands out as the worst in attitude and price.
They made out like bandits on us.

It was easy to set up an appt. the technician was professional and very informative regarding the new regulation on a new water heater tank. He assessed the situation and was able to provide a formal quote before leaving. The work was completed promptly and my parents are happy.

In the latest wind storm our power was knocked out and stayed out for over 36 hours. When it finally came back on we noticed our furnace was only blowing cold air. We called around and everywhere couldn’t get to us earlier then that fri. (7 days after the power was originally lost.) We called FOSS they came out that night, within a few hours… The tech (Sam) was very knowledgeable. He was very sensitive to the surroundings aka appliances in the area of the breaker box. He explained the whole problem & solution thoroughly. If we ever have another heating issue we wouldn’t call anyone else but FOSS. Thanks so much! A special thanks to Sam!

Great company. We originally tried Handy Heating but they cancelled on us 3 separate times, if you can believe it. Handy Heating was also disorganized, not professional (on attempt #2, they called us to ask what our scheduled appointment time was, since they had accidentally deleted it from their computer!), difficult to get ahold of, and inflexible. Phew.
Foss got ahold of us right away, were professional, on time and just all around great. Recommend!

This place is really really bad! My mom got a wood stove installed by these guys and it never worked right. When they finally did come out to fix it 5 times. They never did. She never got any money back even though the stove and installation was bad. She ended up getting a stove from a much better and honest company a year later, it’s to bad she wasted money on these guys. If you want to have lots if problems hire these guys!

Great company they keep promises. Basically no many big heating and repair company is not around Of this area. We followed reputation and had few times visit because heater is old and hard to fix but guy from there «Sam»? Fixed well for now. Talk to owner found out he is nice guy and I was misunderstand about something. Sorry for that. But emmet need help new heater next time anything happens we sure ask them to set up new heater.
