Food is excellent. The use of Fresh ingredients and the fact that the food is freshly prepared made it wonderful. The atmosphere is quirky but fun. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Choice of music(a lot of Sinatra) was pleasurable. Small amount of inside dining but the outside had lots of room and fun things like a tree swing. Definitely can not wait to come back again and try more of the menu.

One of the Best sandwich shops in town. Locally owned, and incredibly friendly. They have panini, salads, soups, and more. A good selection of beer as well. The service is excellent and they will tailor you order however you like. You must check it out.

My husband turned into Oprah as he took a bite of his sandwich and exclaims, «Did I tell you? I LOVEBREAD! No, seriously, you have to have a bite of this!», as he handed it over the table. I have to agree, their homemade bread is so very tasty and reminds you of how bread should taste. Toasting this organic goodness, made it crunchy and crackly and nutty against the smooth pesto and melted cheese. I ordered the BLT quiche, salad and she-crab soup(where you could actually identify large pieces of crab!). Everything tasted so clean, so fresh and unprocessed or overly fussed. The crust on the quiche was light and flaky — hard to pull off in this humidity. But, Oprah wannabe and I agree that the ordering/tight space at the door could be improved — oh, and lock and unlock those doors in the bathroom(only reason I pulled a star). Overall, you’re coming here for the wonderfully attentive and warm staff, the fabulous food, and the quaintness of the fairy garden for dining in better weather. «Hubby Oprah» and I agree, we’ll be back!(said in your best Arnold accent).

Highly recommend the Pickled Palate. Great people with great food. They have plenty of delicious sandwiches but my favorite is the Italian Panini.

This place is charming and I’m glad we ended up here. The staff couldn’t be any nicer and helpful. It’s a small place where they make everything on the menu and aim to please. We ate outdoors in the courtyard/garden and it was perfect. Our salads and sandwiches were delicious and it left us perfectly satisfied. This is a must and when I find myself in the area again I will be there!

What a nice and wonderful find! It’s like a little sandwich shop. All the food is fresh and the panini style sandwiches are out of this world. The customer service is amazing and the whole environment of the restaurant is fantastic. We will definitely go back!

On a nice sunny day there is no lovelier place to have lunch in a garden setting. The atmosphere inside is kind of different, kichy. It will keep your eye accupied while waiting for your food. They sell wine, jewelry and other od chachkas. I luv to meet here for lunch. Food is always good, service is very friendly and helpful. I’ve tried just about every sandwich they make; rueben is still the favorite with tuna melt and chicken salad following close. Try their deserts, all are very tasty.

Very cute lunch spot! Enjoy your freshly-made sandwiches served with love by the sweet southern ladies who run this place out in the garden on a nice afternoon! This place is tiny! And the secret is evidently out; its busy at lunchtime. And I have saved a star for a few reasons… first because of the poor organization inside – the line to pay is right at the front door so I had to walk around to the back door to meet my lunch buddy. Next, I thought it was a little expensive for 2 lunch sandwiches, one with a small bag of chips and the other with salad plus an appetizer($ 35). Lastly, parking is tight, no dedicated parking space right off Coleman. But, we really enjoyed the service as well as food and will be back!

To get an idea of how great this place is, I made a Unilocal account for the sole purpose of giving it a satisfying review. It’s a tiny place with some very friendly folks running it. As you could guess, especially based on the garden outside, everything is homemade! Their Italian panini and tuna panini, without exaggeration, are two of the most delicious sandwiches I’ve ever had. Like I mentioned, space does lack on the inside, but you can also sit outside in their big garden area. Conveniently has a tree swing for children. Despite that one drawback, I came for good food and it exceeded my expectations. Fast service, super friendly staff, and just an all around cute little place. One of my mother and I’s instant go to options.

Everything is homemade! Dressings were amazing. I got the special of the day which was grilled cheese and tomato soup. Not just any grilled cheese! Bread was a homemade rye and grilled cheese also had cream cheese in it. Loved the tea also. The whole restaurant has cute trinkets and goods for purchase. Will be back!

The best tasting, most creative paninis in the Charleston area. These women know how to make a sandwich and serve it with southern charm. I also like the«serve yourself» ice tea canisters with choices of flavors. The restaurant is hard to find the first time, but easy to get to once you know where to turn off of Coleman ave. Parking is the biggest challenge, but we have always been able to find a spot on the street, even if its a 1 minute walk.

With the help of Unilocalers, we found this lovely, little sandwich shop to enjoy our fist meal in Charleston. To say it was quaint would be an understatement. We loved sitting outside in the garden area with our dog. We ordered an Italian sandwich with a side of chips and a roast sandwich with a side salad. The hub & I agreed that the roast beef was the better of the two. The drinks are self-serve with the choice of cucumber-infused water or plain and two types of iced tea. So, why the missing star? The lobby area felt really chaotic to me, particularly since I had never been there before. Customers order, fill their own drinks, then come back to pay after the meal all in the same cramped area. There’s no much they can do since they renovated a house into a restaurant, but it does detract from the experience. If we’re back in Charleston again, we’ll likely return.

You will miss this spot, I did !! You have to drive in the back road, and parking is like Gold. Very cute, two lovely ladies run it, everything is fresh. Order what you want, sit and it is brought to you. Had the turkey, swiss, cranberry sandwich, delicious. Sat outside, very nice, great atmosphere. Ok, why only four stars, well outside traffic noise for one. Prices are a little high for a sandwich. Wife had chicken salad sandwich, tea, along with mine and a coke. $ 23.00 before tip. A must to try at least once. Frank G

I feel like my last few reviews have all mentioned sub-par service. So I’m glad to finally be able to rave about amazing service, which I got here at The Pickled Palate. The owners and staff here are so nice! I was trying to figure out a way to get back here at least once more before I headed back to Atlanta, but I couldn’t make it happen. Although it was getting pretty busy, I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door. I was asked if I’d visited before, and was given the rundown. Despite the growing lunch crowd, I wasn’t rushed to make a decision. I settled on the turkey panini, which I was told was a favorite of their diners. I can see why. First, I didn’t know raspberry mayo was such a thing. It’s real. And it’s real good(you know something’s great when you forgo all proper grammar and punctuation). It was also served with swiss chess, and your choice of a salad or bag of chips. I opted for the salad, which was tasty on its own. Even the water infused with cucumber and lemon was perfect… so much so, that I asked to take a cup to-do. This place has me eating all of my veggies with their yummy salad AND drinking lots more water. Adding this little gem to my list of places I definitely have to visit whenever I’m home.

Pluses: Turkey with raspberry mayo was delicious, makes me want raspberry relish instead of cranberry next Thanksgiving. Iced tea was free flowing — you could help yourself to as much as you wanted and there were two varieties with all the trimmings — lemon, ice, sweetener, ball jars or plastic cups to drink from. Kettle cooked chips Beer and wine, if you wanted it. Customer service was genuine. The ladies working here really want to make you happy. Minuses: My roast beef was nothing to write home about– the bread it was on was not ciabatta no matter who wants to call it that. Pie kept in the fridge — no one likes fruit pie cold. Makes me think it’s been laying around for a while. Skip the peanut butter and jelly. Our friend’s 5 year old didn’t want to eat it because it was messy. Why was it messy? Oh, because it was on a «ciabatta» and it went thru the panini press and everything was oozing out of it. You ever seen a hot peanut butter jelly sandwich? Yeah, me neither.

You know that awkward feeling you get when you go into a café for the first time and you are just browsing while ppl stare at you and you kind of feel rushed to make a choice? You don’t get that feeling here. The people welcomed us when we walked in and asked if we had been in before(they could tell we haven’t, bc I’m totally awkward like that) and they gave us a whole rundown on the menu including special items — like gluten free and vegetarian, and showed us the drink bar(pitchers of cucumber lemon water, un sweet teas and a simple syrup) So I’m really glad my aunt and I stopped here, it’s southerly charming and rustic and quickly has become a favorite in the area. I did the pimento cheese panini sandwich and it is probably the best pimento sandwiches I’ve had. I loved the bread and how it was perfectly panini’ed. So crunchy on the outside and oozy, cheesy and chewy on the inside!

It’s a unique spot that’s for sure. Well crafted sandwiches and great service. It’s not a spot I would go to weekly, but I’d return. Overall, it was a great experience
