Waste of time and money! Visiting family and we needed a last minute place to eat. Decided to go to Charleston Café. We were sat at a old table that was kind of falling apart, no biggie. Waitress was taking our order and I said that I wanted a drink that I saw go to a table on the other end of the restaurant but i wasn’t sure what it was and the waitress didn’t glance over and instead responded with«well I can’t guess what another table ordered» and I said ok and just looked away. I wasn’t asking her to stalk the table, but maybe a glance? Definitely no need for a rude comment! We got our food and my brother and I got the fried chicken sandwich… Ingredients on the menu had me excited– came with goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, guacamole, etc… Sandwich came, the chicken was obviously a frozen piece of fried chicken as my brothers and mine looked exactly the same. Obviously when you freshly bread chicken, they will never look exactly the same and would never be so thin. The bun was meh, the guac was brown and the goat cheese did not taste fresh. I opted for sweet potato fries instead of the chips and those were good. They have a boom boom sauce that we all liked and we asked the waitress for a couple of small servings of this and instead she brings a cereal bowl size of the dip. So now we have to make a mess pouring out own servings of it onto our plates. Thanks a lot for basically telling us we were bothering you. My boyfriend got a jerk chicken wrap which came soggy with a side of chili that was mostly beans, barely any meat. My mom ordered the philly cheese steak– came with a good portion of meat that tasted well however there was maybe one piece of sautéed onion(not kidding) on the whole sub and only half the sub had cheese. After the meal was complete we got our bills and my boyfriend went to the cash register to pay. After being disappointed with service and our food, we then get hit with a oops I hit $ 382 when I swiped your card, not $ 38. So she voided the charge however we looked at our account and it posted therefore we asked the girl to get the manager to make sure the void would actually cancel the charge. The manager hangs around the hostess stand for about 10 minutes before even coming to the table and then doesn’t even apologize at all. We explain to him that were on vacation and we can’t have $ 400 pending while we’re traveling, he basically says well the charge is voided so that’s all we can do and then walks away. Obviously mistakes happen but really ??? No apology, no offer to at least credit back all or partial of what we paid for our meal, nothing. So in the end we’re out $ 440(we know the $ 380 is a pending charge, but still, it’s money not available while traveling!), we had crappy food and crappy service. Definitely no southern hospitality at this place! Stay away.

Try the Colonial Chicken salad! Delicious nut encrusted chicken with granny smith apples, craisins, and feta! Drizzle with some balsamic and the mandarin dressing… delicious!

Excellent local place. Friendly service with an extensive breakfast menu. Shrimp and grits come highly recommended by locals, but I don’t eat seafood. Food was great — bacon was especially crispy and perfect! Reasonably priced with a family friendly atmosphere.

Gross. I got fried green tomatoes that weren’t ready so they tasted nasty, they messed up my boyfriends order THREE times. All he asked for was no cheese and bacon on his waffles and three times they couldn’t figure out to NOT add food. Our waitress was MIA the whole time and my eggs weren’t cooked very well and while standing next to the two young hostess you could hear them talking smack about the customers around them, not very professional when other customers are standing near you.

Nothing but great things to say about Charleston Café! Quick and quality service, and better is their food. Here, you’ll find tradition southern breakfast and brunch dishes with a slight twist. I have had the chicken and waffles, New Orleans style omelet a few times, and a few others that have never disappointed. Anytime, you’re close, give this place a shot at your taste buds.

You will be greeted by the«Specials on the Board» lady who’s job is to say just that apparently. Not that I knew where the board was since it was my first time here but she said that to everyone. She’s definitely consistent. This place is cute and homey. Nice friendly atmosphere and staff seems friendly enough especially Jen. I would definitely ask to sit at her table. The«specials board» apparently changes on a regular basis so it’d be nice if there was a where way they could post the updated menu so people can see it before driving 45 minutes to get here. Something like the Internet would work. Just kidding. This place was very inviting and everyone was friendly. Took some time for the food to get out before it started getting busy but I’m just glad we got there when we did. I’d definitely visit again if I lived here.

Hands down some of the best food I’ve had. We used them to cater our wedding and I would tell anyone who will listen to use them. They delivery on quailty, taste, presentation, and customer service. When we are in town to visit my husbands family we always make it a point to have a meal here. This place is a must, you are missing out if you don’t eat here.

Wow, what a difference 8 months make. Has the place been sold, or new manage, new chef, or what? The brunch was terrible. We waited over 25 minutes after we ordered our breakfast. No one had tried to seat us until we walked up to the register and asked. Mind you, the place was less then half full. The bacon was greasy, the potatoes were the frozen cube type, and the eggs were not tasty at all. What happened here? What a disappointment. I had not expected this after my last review. Maybe an off day? I hope that’s all it was. Will I try again, I don’t know. That warm family feeling is gone, the greeting with a smile is gone. Frank G

If anyone remembers the Bookstore Café on King Street, you will immediately recognize Charleston’s Café. They do breakfast well. I’m not sure if I would say it’s worthy of a long line, but it is worth visiting if you don’t have to wait.

My first visit here was lunch, good. My second brekfast, excellent! It’s a casual place with good service and they get the food out quick. I got an egg sanwich with sausage and spinach, eggs over medium… and grits. This plate dropped in front of me and I smiled, I had a good feeling about this and it was that, good. The spinach had a bit of something sweet on it and it was so good as it complemented the salty sausage very well. looking back I may have been a spectacle but I didn’t care. When I took a bite of the sandwich the egg yolk went all over, I put it down licked my fingers and went back at it. This was good and I wasn’t worried if I slurped to loud, I was likeing my breakfast! I threw on a little hot sauce and started to sniffle a bit, SO good. So yes breakfast was slurping, sniffling, lots of napkins good! In short check this place out, and if you see someone sniffling and licking their fingers it might be me, can’t wait to eat another breafast sandwich.

Honestly can’t believe I have lived in Charleston for over two years now and it has taken me over 120 restaurants to finally discover Charleston’s Café. This place is LEGIT and I have honestly been craving their brunch every morning since I went last Sunday. And being open every day for brunch, this place could get VERY dangerous to my waistline. What I really like about this place is that they serve hangover helping, will cure whatever ales you brunch staples like Shrimp & Grits, Biscuits & Gravy and Eggs Benedict but ALSO tons of unique dishes I have never seen before. Like six different kinds of sinister Benedicts such as the BBQ Benedict my friend ordered-with pulled pork and BBQ hollandaise served over cornbread, or the BLT Benedict I ordered– with smoked pork belly and roasted tomato hollandaise over biscuits. Loaded with butter and creamy sauce and everything soul satisfying, these two dishes are both stick-to-your-ribs good and will fill you up for the rest of the afternoon. I can’t wait to go back and try one of their«Island Potato Casseroles» which looked awesome coming out of the kitchen. Essentially they are big skillets of breakfast potatoes served with all sorts of tasty veggies, meats and cheese combinations. Or perhaps I’ll try one of their breakfast sandwiches like the Chucktown Waffle with fried chicken, bacon, chiptole mayo or cheddar cheese. Oh me oh my, so many options! If you are in need of a hearty, go big or go home brunch any day of the week– Charleston’s Café really can’t be beat.

Amazing breakfast! Totally worth the drive from Charleston, especially if you’re on your way to Sullivan’s Island, a lovely, quiet beach. Very friendly staff, but the highlight here is the grub. I had a crazy good relleno.

Everything from the food to customer service was great. Only qualm was that my pulled pork in the Benedict was a bit dry(think it was unnecessarily deep fried). It definitely took away from the fresh, tenderness of typical pulled pork. Shrimp and grits had bacon bits in it which was a nice touch.

Although it was a little hard to find for our non-local party, this place was delicious. We visited for breakfast and the food was delicious. The Boston cream pancake special was like desert and amazing. The service was wonderful– prompt and attentive. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

Wow! What a great spot, a little gem in a strip mall with fabulous food, all day breakfasts, beautiful large salads. They have a very varied menu with all the food made to order. I had the Pecan Encrusted Chicken with cranberries, Feta, Apples & a thick slice of beer bread that is house made.. Delicious. $ 9.99. Great deal. It’s a very busy spot with lots of people local to the area, nice local artwork on the walls. Plenty of parking outside in the Strip Mall. They also have about 5 small tables to eat outside should you so wish. This place is a must & I will definitely return. Loved it.

Another great breakfast spot off the beaten path. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the Southern Eggs Benedict! I could’ve eaten a 2nd serving! Biscuits could have been a tad bit softer/warmer, but they were oh so good. Also, fyi the corned beef hash is shredded, not chopped. Expect about a 30 minute wait. Small place, big charm.

Cute little place. Surprisingly good for a restaurant tucked in a small shopping center. Kind of had a diner type feel but not really lol. Very friendly service, as expected from the south. They had complimentary coffee and water while you waited to be seated which was awesome. Great specials. Def a go to place if in town. I’d be a regular if I lived closer for sure :) Their chai tea was also so so good.

This restaurant is the real thing. We were staying at a hotel just down highway 17 from this restaurant. We got a little bit of a later start to our day so we decided that we wanted to get a hearty breakfast. The Charleston Café gave us just what we were looking for and packed it with great southern cooking with a very contemporary twist. Before we talk about the food, I want to be sure to give a sour out to the staff. The staff was friendly, courteous and made the experience wonderful. Since it was 10:00 on a Sunday there was a short wait(15 minutes). There was coffee, water and plenty of chairs for us while we waited. I got the chefs special, one of many items on the board for the day. The chefs special was three shrimp, green onion grit cakes topped with two poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and the a short shell crab on it. The flavors were spectacular, the eggs perfectly poached and the combination of shrimp and crab in a breakfast dish was a real treat. My wife had the southern Benedict which was a buttermilk biscuit, fried green tomato, crispy smoked bacon, poached egg and Hollandaise sauce on top of a French baguette. It was very good as well, and her fist fried green tomato of her life. My daughter also got an item of the special menu which was a drunken Mac and cheese with smoked bacon, topped with two over easy eggs. She ate up every bite in short order. One of the great tasting unique items here is the sweet potato biscuit. It is delicious, I would go back just for more of these. Charleston Café was great, top of the many breakfast places I have gone. You feel at home and have great food.

Brunch is one of my favorite meals and when I’m offered really inventive choices and they turn out ridiculously delicious, I get really excited! And Charleston’s Café blew me away with what they offer and the service was spectacular, too. Sweet potato biscuits & pimento cheese in my grits? Yes, please!!! The menu looked amazing but the white board even more so. The Bruschetta Omelet had spinach, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, tomatoes, capers, guacamole, kalamata olives, asiago & a dollop of fresh mozzarella on top. I know, right? And it tasted even better than it sounds. It wasn’t the overstuffed concoction I anticipated. All the ingredients were cooked into the eggs and then it was folded in half, which made it super easy to eat and everything melded together so well it was sinful. The sweet potato biscuits are somewhat dense with cinnamon and brown sugar flavor. Those pimento cheese grits would have stood on their own for breakfast and I’d have been delighted with just them. This breakfast earned every one of it’s 5 stars and I feel very fortunate that we arrived when we did and were seated right away. Every other time we drove by during our visit to Mt. Pleasant, SC, there was a line down the sidewalk. One doesn’t need to wonder why.

I get excited about a good breakfast. And good breakfasts aren’t that hard to find. A great breakfast, however, isn’t that easy. A memorable breakfast is an even more elusive thing and when found, is something to be coveted and revered. I found that memorable breakfast at Charleston’s Café. Wow. First of all, the service was spectacular and attentive with smiles, friendly banter, quick refills, and full of southern charm. The menu was full of eye popping, drool inducing selections of not only your typical omlets, waffles, and pancakes, but also lists«novelties» which include things I’ve never imagined for breakfast! I mean, sausage patties dipped in pancake batter and grilled and served with eggs over chippers(fried thin potatoes)? Who doesn’t want to try that??? And the sweet potato biscuits with the taste of cinnamon and brown sugar are to die for! Plus, the specials are on a chalkboard menu and take the innovation up a couple notches more! My Folly Island special was a thing of beauty with country ham, broccoli, peppers, onions and perfectly cooked eggs with sinfully delicious queso cheese. And my wife’s selection was even better, if that’s possible! This place is a true gem and well worth trying. Get here early or you will be joining that line that forms out the door. And for good reason!
