Food was mediocre. The service was horrible. It is a good deal, but don’t think its worth it. I would rather pay more money to eat at a more pleasant place with pleasant workers.

My boyfriend and I have come here plenty of times and never had an issue. Today, however no one is in the restaurant and we asked a question about soups and when the sushi arrived asked about which roll was which and got the biggest eye roll. She acted bothered Bc we didn’t know when the rolls looked very similar and placed so closely. We just needed clarification. Good sushi but if they are bothered by my business I’ll take it down the street to Monster Sushi.

Horrible service, took over an hour to just get an appetizer and ask to refill my water. But you can’t beat the 50% off deal.

I came here for dinner one night and there was 8 of us. When we walked in the place was so crowded and we waited a few minutes to get a table. We also waited for our server to come to our table to take our orders. Two people in our party got their orders mixed up. The servers are not that friendly. + I recommend the black angel roll which have strawberry sauce and caviar and shrimp rockies. It’s 50% off on sushi and 30% off on chef’s appetizers with cash only. Which is a great deal :-)

So I thought that half price sushi would be mediocre. I was wrong, and was glad to finally have partaken of Masago’s offering. Everything, I mean ev-ry-thing. Was fresh. The seaweed salad was fresh, was served with fresh slices of mango. With takeout, they sent the side salads home w the dressing on the side. Great move from my perspective. And the sashimi and roles we had were very nice. Really, really like the masago roll. I’ll definitely eat here again.

Worst service they are dumb and cannot speak a word of english. I ordered tempura udon and it the worst thing I didnt touch it and she said she wont replace it because I added soy saice to it… She said she cannot gice it to someone else as if she will give it to another customer. I ended up not paying the bill and left shamefull

Do not come here for real sushi. Come here for wonderfully, gloriously bastardized American sushi that comes with brusque service and unidentifiable sauces. 50% off when you pay with cash, waitresses will probably take your plate before you’ve finished eating. Your move.

It’s always baffled me that this place advertises 50% sushi menu prices with cash and 30% off with credit. It just goes to show you how much our culture loves to get a good deal. Well it worked for me. I’ve ordered take out and delivery from here and never been disappointed. They make placing orders on the phone quick and easy and it’s free delivery in the area.

Don’t allow the discount for paying with cash to be the draw to go in. Sure, the food is good, not great, but the service is far from customer friendly. I will not be returning.

Came here due to the attractively priced sushi, 50% off if you pay cash. Arrived at an off time so the restaurant was empty and service was fast. Restaurant was nice with a fair amount of seating, but was a little dim. The large fish tank was a nice decoration. Ordered an Eel Avocado, Spicy Tuna, and Volcano Roll. Eel Avocado was average and the Spicy Tuna was pretty looking with no flavor. The Volcano Roll was thick layered and warm, but flat in terms of flavor. Overall the sushi was pretty but lacked flavor.

Best Thai food I’ve had in the area. Very reasonably priced and they give discounts if you pay in cash. The service is great too. I’ve never had a problem with them. They’ve always been willing to accommodate my lessening of the heat in veggie pad Thai.

I was really excited to go to Masago because I heard about their 50% off sushi when you pay with cash deal. I got there and the employees were sitting at the table on their phones. The cheaper rolls were made poorly than the expensive ones, but the signature rolls were pretty good. I would definitely eat there again but only because it is very cheap for barely above average sushi. You really can’t beat 50% off.

Execellent Sushi and a great value especially if you are paying in cash. Sushi very fresh. My favorites are Triple Tuna Combo and Sushi and Sashimi combo with a Papaya Salad. About 50 yards down the block is a liquor store to get your BYOB Sake or whatever. Parking lot around corner convenient. Hard wooden seats in middle of restaurants could use cushions.

Updated review I’ve been consistently ordering from masago since it opened in Morristown and have had a chance to compare it to their sister location in ridgewood. Food: Everything is still great when ordering. He quality of the fish is up to par. The portions compared to other places that do half priced is above average. The cuts of fish are up to par. Can’t complain. Service: Unlike some of my other reviews, the service here has declined and it feels like an inconvenience at times. There have been nights where we’ve been there to closing and there have been nights where we were rushed out and hurried along. Gone are the smiles and warm greetings. Most recently we had a waitress who clearly didn’t want to be there and just grimaced the entire time. We’ve been ordering take out and delivery pretty frequently as well and the last few times it’s taken an ungodly amount of time for the food to arrive. Ex: we were told it would be 45 minutes, an hour and twenty five minutes later we were still waiting for our food. Overall: I will still continue to frequent masago but adjustments to expectations are necessary on the service side.

This place is great! The sushi here is very good! The Angry Dragon being my favorite. Pros: Great sushi. Half off if you pay with cash. And the food is brought out fairly quick. It’s fairly easy to get a seat even when it’s very busy(which it is on the weekends) Cons: The wait staff is unique in the sense that they treat you very nice walking in but as soon as you finish eating your meal they want you to leave and stare at you until you do so haha. And if you have any allergies, pick something else because they gawk at you upon the slightest request of an alteration of an item on the menu. However they are extremely attentive with the main goal of efficiency on their mind. Overall this is an amazing place for sushi that not only tastes great but is at an unbeatable price!

All the rolls here were really good and fresh. The portions are definitely on the small side. To me that’s not a bad thing since you can try more rolls =]. We ordered the following for lunch and the total was around $ 47 when we paid cash(you get 50% off if you pay cash). — Naruto roll — tiger roll — Yankee roll — jalapeño yummy roll — lunch special $ 10 for two rolls: Boston and dynamite rolls — sweet shrimp sashimi(it came with fried shrimp heads, cool) — sea urchin sashimi The service was good and I would definitely return to try more rolls on their menu since they all sounded really yummy!

We started going to Masago as soon as it opened. We’ve been turned off to other sushi restaurants in the area for various reasons(price, service, ambience, cleanliness), so we have been loyal Masago customers since day one! The prices speak for themselves — but the service is even better. The waitstaff is very attentive and we particularly love when Sandy is our waitress. Cherry(at the front) always recognizes my voice when I am ordering take out or delivery! I can tell that they really appreciate our business, and they work hard to make the restaurant what it is. The restaurant itself is very clean and open. Though always busy, I’ve never had to wait a ridiculous amount of time to sit. It’s nice to see that the sushi chefs are busy at any day or time, as the fish is so fresh! The sushi has never let me down, though I have noticed that the size of the fish has gotten smaller recently. The quality and freshness of the fish has not wavered since opening, however. They have a lot of really wonderful combinations in their special rolls and exciting new appetizers. I always go for the sushi dinner. You really can’t beat the lunch special. Overall, great restaurant and sushi. Definitely worth trying out for the prices if nothing else.

Came here with some friends for dinner on a Saturday. They have a special where you can pay half price if you use cash for Sushi. Ordered the Sashimi Special which was good and had a nice variety of fish. Also ordered the volcano, spicy girl and one of the special rolls. All were okay but nothing fantastic. The service was horrific. The waitress did not speak English well, was taking plates form people while they were still eating and seemed to be rushing us even though the place was half full.

Mostly Japanese rolls and hot entrees plus the obligatory pad thai and general tso chicken on the menu, the service and food here were both average at lunch. Currently running a «grand opening» discount of 30% at dinner and 15% at lunch, every little bit helps but I have no idea when it ends. Think this is a 2.5 star place. I visited for lunch on a weekday when about half the tables were occupied. Lunch specials are $ 10(two rolls plus soup/salad) or $ 12(three rolls or a bento lunch). I started with miso soup which was pretty mediocre; served warmish-hot and didn’t have much depth of flavor at all, not worth getting. My nameless dining companion :) had the salad, big chunks of romaine drenched in the typical Japanese-place orange ginger dressing, not memorable but definitely better than their miso. I’m not an expert on rolls. I chose a spicy tuna roll and a spicy yellowtail roll, both were essentially pâté; i.e., a chopped-fish concoction, not long strips of fish alongside slices of avocado or cucumber. Tasty, but not even the slightest little bit of spicy. Rice wrapping on outside was a hint dry. The box lunch was a lot more food for two more dollars. Beef teriyaki was ordered medium rare and arrived medium well, served in a sauce that was like thick gravy, too much cornstarch, people! Shumai(chinese pork dumplings) were pretty good. The generous portion of rice was a bit dry, not quite crunchy, but not the perfect soft consistency. And the seaweed salad in sesame oil had its usual consistency of cruncy core and slippery exterior. Food came quickly, but the front of the house service was mixed. some staffers were friendly, others pretty gruff.
The garish bright orange colors on the exterior continue on the inside, where they are somewhat well matched with the dark floor and huge, deep blue fish tank. There’s a TV on the wall but it was blessedly off when I visited.
