Wow. Now this is the middle eastern food I’ve been looking for in Morris county! I got a shawarma Haifa sandwich which had lamb and falafel with their Middle East salad and tahini sauce and some hot sauce and it was on real Syrian bread. It’s legit. Can’t wait to go back and get something else!

Excellent shawarma. Wife & I both had the Chicken Shawarma Haifa(includes falafel). We ate at one of your sidewalk tables and remembered our times in Israel. Friendly service too. We’ll happily come back and recommend you to others.

I stopped in for lunch on the weekend, as I was in the area. The person who made my food was very friendly, and we chatted until it was ready. I had the chicken kebab sandwich, and I would absolutely order this again. The flavors were delicious, and it reminded me of a place I used to eat when I lived in Philadelphia, bringing back memories of the times spent there. I would order this again in a minute, and if I were in the area, it would be a great place to grab a meal to go. I also got hummus but haven’t tried it yet. I can imagine this place gets busy during the week. It’s a grab and go type place as there are only 3 tables with two chairs each. But worth every bite.

Great authentic food, loved it. I haven’t been to any of the Mediterranean Countries, but I am sure I am eating an authentic experience!

I love this place! If it wasn’t for Unilocal I wouldn’t have ever found it. It’s easy to pass over as its in a small location in morris plains and doesn’t look like anything special. I got the jamileh special with chicken for $ 9. Great flavor and really fresh and cheap prices. Would definitely recommend for take out, can’t beat it.

From just looks this place is easy to overlook, however, I promise you will not be disappointed! The Veal and Lamb Shawarma is delish, falafel is outstanding. Super fresh veggies, amazing flavor, all made to order. Go get some!!! :)

Still the place to go for shawerma/shawarma fix. Lamb/veal shawarma sautéed to order with real tahini sauce in the side. Other meats cooked over charcoal. The pita side with tomato and onions is very good. Take home quickly and consume with red wine or beer.

Super affordable prices, and delicious food. The owner was also very nice. Only downside was that this restaurant isn’t great for eat-in; the inside gets pretty crowded during peak times.

I love when I have to come to Morris Plains. It gives me the pleasure of coming to eat at this gem of a place. Healthy, cooked to order, mom and pop place, friendly, clean, great prices. I love coming here.

A tiny smoky joint reminiscent of grill trucks in Flushing despite the brick and mortar. Lamb kebab platter for lunch $ 13, homemade and started at the moment of order. I arrived to an empty place before noon, first waited for the server to appear and Oy! pick up ringing phone to take a too long order with way many customer questions before putting in my simple request. I decided to sit down in one of 3 two-seat tops rather than waste the charcoal heat going back to the office. The order out customers built up quickly, most seemed aware of the wait and are willing to squeeze in. The phone hardly rung with other take out orders during this time which was so weird, wondered if they muted the line after that initial call to avoid more challenges to the system… Folks behind the counter all get busy but don’t especially engage the crowd, such that a later arrived first-timer peevishly asked«may I place an order now?» after quietly waiting in a none-line for a while. I’m thinking of their good Unilocal rating, they likely lose a bunch of business due to relatively low capacity and no obvious system to deal with peak business periods. Glad I had my order!

Ordered as take out. The food was prepared on dirty stove not charcoal grill as advertised. Literally hole in wall kinda place with bad food. Ordered lamb kebab, baba and tabouleh salad. Everything was not fresh as it was made several days ago. Wouldn’t order again.

OMG… OMG… I went to Carmel Haifa when I attempted to make a «holding reservation» for a family dinner at Arthur’s Tavern(just a few doors down), and I wanted to get lunch — but since I was going to Arthur’s in a few days, I figured I’d try this place. To be quite honest, I saw this place on my first visit to Arthur’s and took pictures of it and the SHAWARMA poster in the window to send to my brother because we have been talking about getting Shawarma since seeing MARVEL’S AVENGERS movie…(I know, I know)… I walk in and the place is small, and packed — that was not a problem because I was getting it to go anyway — I place the order for my Chicken Shawarma and wait — the smells of all of the other food being freshly prepared was outstanding!!! My mouth was watering with each order placed before mine being served and devoured by my fellow customers. The sounds of «Yumm!» and«Oh my God, this is good!» made me anxious for my meal. Then the jewel of my visit was put into a bag and given to me(yes, I paid for it — best $ 7+ I ever spent!) — like a giddy schoolboy I went to my vehicle and enjoyed what was one of the best meal I’ve ever had out of a bag in my life! Amazing flavor, textures, and… just… OMG!(I know, I said that already). Looking forward to going back(I’m thinking very soon!) for another. Just outstanding!

Got to give a shout out my fellow Unilocalers because they are the best foodie buds! Today is a beautiful day and I felt like trying out a new lunch place. I checked one of the places I had book marked because of all the cool Unilocal reviews. I arrived after the lunch rush so the place was empty. The owner and his wife were very friendly and even advised me to write a Unilocal review when I told them they were recommended. As mentioned it is total dive but its clean and has a homey vibe. It’s across from the Morrus Plains train station so parking at rush hour has got to be rough. I had the chicken schwarma in a pita with a side of falafel. Nicely season chicken, fresh greens, stuffed in a warm pita and topped with white sauce for under $ 7. Filling, fresh, tasty and reasonable make me a happy camper. The crunchy falafel were the bomb! Two piece of veggie heaven for a dollar. If you are a baklava fan then you got to get some to go like I did. Homemade and yummy with just the right balance of flaky philo, walnut filling and honey. This is not a date place but if you plan on bring the date home pick up some baklava for dessert. You will make her swoon and call you honey. This is seriously good stuff! I would bet their cold apps are really good too. I will probably pick up a few of them to go on my next visit.

Delicious! We had a one chicken schawarma and one lamb/veal schawarma. Spices were spot on and the pita was fresh. The kibbeh was a little oily but tasted great. This will be our go-to going forward. The staff is also very friendly.

This place is hidden between the buildings, my luck was check on Unilocal! Their falafels are the best I ever had. It is the first place in USA that I found Kibe(Kebbeh) on the menu; is different than what I am used to, but good. Their sandwiches are great! Good meet and mix of flavors. Kaftas and kebabs are delicious. Definitely a must go.

1 charcoal grill, 3 tables, 6 chairs, 1 grill guy and 1 extremely friendly and chatty owner, expect great food but don’t expect to sit & eat at Carmel Haifa. Cheap too, a gyro(called shawerma here) is $ 6.50 and a lamb platter is just $ 9, which comes with five perfectly cooked chunks of meat, hummus, grilled pita w/onions and hot sauce(marina bread), also a salad with a little too much dressing. Do. Not. Bring. A. Date. Here. At least not a first date! The place is a dive, a pit, a glorified takeout counter in poor repair. A bathroom? Hahahaha, no. But the food makes up for many shortcomings. My shawerma in lightly toasted pita was inappropriately labeled a «sandwich», actually it’s a bomb stuffed with salad and diced lamb/veal mix, topped generously with garlic sauce(alas no tzatziki), great. Excellent hummus with lots of tahini, and they dressed my tabbouleh right in front of me so it would stay fresh and crunchy on the ride home. The hot sauce is a rich tomato base with modest heat. A large piece of flaky fresh baklava is only $ 3. Vegetarian rating: 4 stars for the felafel, hummus, etc etc. There is no gorgeous rotating tower of meat, they don’t do enough business to use one up, so they either sauté your animal protein in a pan or grill it over the charcoal fire. Admire the small electric fan blowing the coals until they are white-hot! BYO? Oh no, you’re not gonna wanna linger here. Rush your food home and drink there. You’ll be glad you did. Closes at 9pm. If only, if only this were in Morristown next to a bar & open until the wee drunken hours? I tell you, it would KILL.

This is one of my husband’s favorites, even though it’s a half hour from our house. Your stomach rumbles when you walk in due to the smell of food over charcoal. We’ve done take out but we’ve also eaten at the tables just outside – probably the best way in my opinion to eat the falafel since it’s nice and hot. The boys always get the mix shawerma but I’m a chicken shawerma type of girl myself. The sauce makes the difference, so as you eat try and get sauce in every bite. It boggles the mind that you can get 3 delicious pieces of falafel for just a dollar! The service is the best – friendly and engaging.

Great shawarma, falafel and humus. Exceeded expectations. Only has a few tables so probably do take out if you’re 3+ ppl. Prices are really reasonable so go nuts.
