Everything looks good and fresh, but the food is very mediocre. I had the falafel plate with an assortment of all the salads and tried all the sauces. Nothing worth running back to. The taste is just not there. Everything was very bland.

First time at a Mediterranean joint. It’s different, but good. It feels like I’m eating healthy. Good experience. Would do again.

Food was good… roasted eggplant very good… it does seem to be a little confusing with ordering… and the execution not too smooth… although they open at 11, they were not yet fully ready at 11:20 to make my visit feel like they were on top of things. But for $ 9, I do feel I got a good value and healthy food… I’ll certainly be back

You can definitely call this a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. I thought the food was very fresh(the grilled chicken was esp. moist) and I really liked the warm pita they give you with the platter dinner. The next time I’m in the area on business I won’t hesitate to come back.

I have been in here a few time and always wanted it to be better than it is. Today’s experience was with uninterested employees and cold overly expensive food. I asked them for new hummus because the container in the display was old and crusty and asked for a new container which the guy behind the counter obliged, however after he served me another employee scrapped the old container into the new fresh container. It was disgusting and not hygienic at all.

Someone coined this perfectly — the Chipotle of Mediterranean. Excellent options, especially for vegetarians. Small portions, large portions, really anything will leave you feeling satisfied.

This is a fantastic concept, but misses a bit in terms of execution. Love how they have adopted the chipotle model to mediterranean food, but the quality and portions are suffering a bit. Had the Gyro platter and found the meat to be a bit greasy and mushy compared to traditional greek places. The portion was big, but was mostly lettuce and vegetables and only a small spoonful of hummos and baba ganoush. The falafel was OK, but nothing to write home about. From living in NYC and Hoboken and being spoiled by Mamouns, its hard to settle for anything less. 2 pluses are the prices are extremely reasonable(less than $ 7 for a plate) and the awesome selection of sauces ranging from Tzatziki to Chimichurri

I have recently discovered this place and have been there 5 times already. LOVE, love, love the food. Best food ever! And the people there are awesome. My only regret… its 10 minutes from where I work! I could be there everyday otherwise. Highly recommend it. :)

I’m super happy my friends brought me here for lunch. It’s perfect for a quick lunch break and the food is good! It’s build to order set up and there’s a lot of options for vegetarians and a bunch of sauces! I will definitely be back here soon!

We loved it. Quality and service. Great for vegetarians and otherwise as well. Their selections for plate was great. Choose your rice, salad, hummus, protein, sauces. Nice.

Food is utterly hideous. Beef kebab i had featured mushy chunks of meat that were perhaps made serval days ago? My significant other’s so –called Gyro featured homogenized lamb mystery meat. Wow. I wonder if the reviewers who said that this place was good have ever eaten at a true Mediterranean restaurant or even a hole in the wall. Ive gotten better meat from the grease trucks in my college days at Rutgers. My apologies, but this type of food MUST be fresh to be good. We always wondered why there was never anyone in the place when we looked at it in the past, well no we know. This food is FAR less than acceptable. You can get the real deal at any number of Mediterranean restaurants or even take out ventures throughout NJ for the same cost.Geez.

Due to my adoration for Mediterranean food, and my recent diagnosis with celiac disease, my boyfriend recommended this place for dinner one night. I am SOGLAD he did. Basically, this is a chipotle for Mediterranean food. What’s better,(in my case at least) is that every topping is labeled for food allergies. You get to choose between a wrap, a gyro, or a plate, and they have various proteins(falafel, chicken, gyro meat, etc.) veggies(red cabbage, Israeli salad, etc.) rice, sauces(hummus, tahini, hot sauce) and so much more! Everything tastes so fresh and the pitas are made throughout the day on premises! Best part, they have gluten free pitas!!! Needless to say, this has become a favorite quick dinner/lunch spot for my boyfriend and I. The only downside is that there aren’t more locations(I live in central NJ so I only get to go when visiting my boyfriend). Whether or not you have a food allergy, this place is the perfect spot for a delicious, affordable, quick Mediterranean meal! I highly recommend!!!

Pretty good Mediterranean food. The falafel is made fresh daily. Not frozen. I’ve had the rice bowls, which are pretty good, but I prefer the kabobs platter. The kabobs are made fresh in the grill right Infront of me. The gyro is excellent as well but I always get extra tzaziki sauce in the side. They have some sort of membership card that give you additional discounts the same way Panera does. Free refills in your beverage with booth seating inside.

Let me start my review backwards. Would I come back to Garbanzo again? Sure! As a first time visitor, I decided to go with the platter. It had two kabob/veggie skewers: one chicken, one steak. It traveled on a bed of seasoned rice with an overly generous portion of hummus and warm pita. Also present was a chopped salad of cucumbers, tomatoes with a light vinaigrette. The service staff was very polite and offered a choice of sauces to accompany the meal: a cilantro sauce, tahini sauce or a tzatziki. I did not experience the service-related issues that other reviewers indicated. Today’s gang staffing the counter couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. So let’s level set everyones’ expectations: remember — this is Florham Park, not Paterson or Brooklyn. Garbanzo offers about as traditional a Middle Eastern meal as Chipotle is traditional Mexican. Does that mean its no good? Absolutely NOT! In this day and age of McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Dunkin, etc. popping up on every intersection and corner, it’s nice to have a relatively health-conscious option like Garbanzo to choose from. I’m gonna bring the kids next time for ‘Kids Eat Free’ night.

It saddens me to give such a low score, but not every restaurant can score 4 and 5. I went to pick up a take out dinner. The staff was cleaning the vents and exhausts directly over the stove/grill they were cooking my meal on. I commented that this was not very sanitary as dust would be falling down and was provided a smart reply. For some reason, I don’t think the health department would permit this cleaning during business hours over food.

I read some of these positive reviews and thought i’d try it before doing some shopping at trader joes. I must say this is one of the worst restaurants I’ve visited. I felt like a gyro and it was awful – pre-sliced, flavorless meat strips that were individually placed on the grill with squirts of oil to heat up. Gross. The yogurt sauce was lumpy. It simply was absolutely terrible. What really bothers me is that they must think the customer is stupid enough to think this is really a decent gyro? The positive – the ice cubes were cold in my drink. For a decent gyro, go to Think Grill on Morris Ave in milburn or the Randolph Grill on Route 10 west.

Lots of choices — sort of a Mediterranean version of Chipotle, if you will, but not all the selections to add onto the salads and kebabs are what I’d deem authentic(pickles?). Still, the Baba ghanoush isn’t bad, and neither is the hummus. I prefer a more solid pita(theirs is hollow for putting things into?) for the custom build-your-own plate. And the chicken was dry and without much taste. A new option and hopefully they’ll improve. They’re ok, but I have definitely had better. Their saving graces — a big parking lot and it’s reasonably close to work. Staff is reasonably cheerful. Has a catering menu.

A Chipotle style ordering system for Mediterranean food, but instead of Chipotle Tabasco sauce, douse whatever you got with Sriracha! Fresh ingredients and you can try anything on the line for a price of «please» [sic]. Like Chipotle, you start with the base(pita, laffa or plate), then protein then fixings. So, I got wheat pita, falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, mixed vegetables, and tahini sauce. Simple, right? And don’t forget the Sriracha. In the mix, there are hints of fresh parsley, sesame, the crunch from the falafel, and a kick from you know what. Amazing. I will definitely come back again.
