Sorry, we have tried this place for the last time. Once again, steak charred beyond the point of return. Disappointing and inconsistent. The waiter apologized and tried to bring a second steak but the char ruined that one as well. My father tried to explain to the waiter what happened and how the place is not what it used to be, presumably since Arthur died? The waiter once again apologized and said he would get the manager, who didn’t come near us until we were starting to leave. Once my father started walking towards the exit and passed the manager, he finally looked in my direction and said«good night,» not even mentioning my father’s dissatisfaction, which I thought was a bit odd. Also, we noticed that as other tables were receiving their checks, they were given small candy hearts with chocolates, but we did not receive one despite spending over $ 90 for the three of us. Perhaps they had an issue with my father vocalizing his concerns but he was 100% right as his steak was almost inedible. They can keep their candy and won’t be seeing us again. It’s really a shame because we’ve been going there for years.

Great service, love the Décor, and their streak was cooked to perfection! And it didn’t stop there. The desserts were out of this world…

Great steaks, and I have gone there a few times over the years and it has been consistant. Old and dark style environment, and limited menu. I don’t think I would go there for anything else but the steaks, and you can’t have too many of those and expect to stay reasonably healthy. Great naughty delight and one of the best places around to get a great steak.

I came here for my 5 year anniversary with my boyfriend and their food was amazing. I think I got the NY sirloin cause I can’t eat any sized steak bigger than that but I loved it! I just didn’t like having to wait to be seated. The day I had went it was really busy in there. I got seated on the 2nd floor. I will def be going again, hopefully soon.

I have been here twice before and enjoyed my meal very much. The food is delicious, but service is shady. My husband and I went to have a holiday meal and split our bill on two separate cards and when we later checked our accounts, each of our cards were charged double. Understandably errors happen, but what is wrong in my opinion is the fact that our waitress failed to inform us of this occurrence. I spoke with management via the phone, Sal, shortly after we realized the excess charges and he apologized, but really didn’t make any attempts to smooth over the issue at hand. The fact that there was little to be done to quell our dissatisfaction when we went to celebrate a holiday and the shady behavior of the waitress is enough to not come back. I also had spoken to their accounting office to ensure the charges were removed(some of which wasn’t) and asked that the GM, Chris, contact me, which he never did. Food can be great, but if service is lacking, why bother?

The gold standard. The New York sirloin is sensational. The staff is always great. It’s not a coincidence that they have been in business forever and the place is always packed.

It is not my favorite steak place. But, it is pretty close. The steak is much less than at a fancy steakhouse. The steak is really good. And, it comes with a side of potatoes. I go at least 3 – 4 times a year. That may not sound a lot, but I really do not go to steak restaurants a lot(not counting business trips), so once a quarter is a lot. Good service; always busy. Great prices, and good drink choices. Hamburger is also really good. The chocolate mouse cake is outstanding!

Massive, perfectly-cooked steaks. I recommend the Delmonico. It’s big but it has great flavor and you have to trim it a bit. Limited vegetable sides, more of a meat and potatoes joint. Great atmosphere and energy. Love the high ceilings and classic bar.

I had a late lunch with some friends. Ordered a mojito and they were out of mint leaves… disappointed!!! Also my steak was not cooked well done. The shrimp scampi did not have a good taste. The nachos and dessert were delicious!!! And of course the pickles… lol

Id definitely go back for the french onion soup alone… Enjoyed the playful atmosphere and we had cheeseburgers as well. Definitely recommend checking it out.

My boyfriend and I went to Arthurs last night for dinner and we were very disappointed. Having heard really great things about the restaurant, we were excited to try it. The first thing we noticed was how miserable the bartenders were. The drinks were very weak and I may as well have just ordered a diet coke. It took an hour to get seated but we didn’t mind because we luckily got a seat at the bar. I just wish the food would have been worth the wait. The french onion soup tasted like absolutely nothing. The steak was decent but honestly, it could have been from Outback. It’s sad that the only thing that tasted good was the wedge salad(great blue cheese). It may have just been an off night, judging by the other reviews. I won’t be going back though.

Arthur’s is a nice local bar and steakhouse that feels a bit like Cheers. The décor is interesting with liquor bottle lamps and the clientele is definitely local. Service is friendly and fairly quick. The menu is pretty small and obviously focuses on meat. The beer list is pretty small with 6 beers on tap and 2 seasonals /non-bud light variety. The ghost burger with ghost pepper in it and spicy cheese was lava hot but delicious with excellent meat and a nice bun that held up. The cheese steak was also great with real slices of steak and peppers.

Lunch here hit the spot again… brisket quesadillas on the specials menu was really top notch, and was served with a delicious cilantro coleslaw. Enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich too — ordered it blackened(was spicy but not dry) with cheddar. Portions are always more than plentiful, and bar seating for lunch has been a fun time. Other visits have proven equally as good, and make this traditional steakhouse notable, but try to come off hours to avoid crowds. The real treat here for me is the attentive and personable bartenders. I’ve had what I think is among NJ’s best Bloody Mary’s at Arthur’s — and each bartender has their own special twist on this classic. Both of the regular bartenders I’ve had are on point — and folks, there’s nothing regular about them. Keith’s quick to give you the fish on the latest greatest favorite dishes, and Ginger is as attentive and hospitable as they come. In short, if you can get past the sometimes long wait, it’s worth it… kudos all around.

Since moving to the area, this is my favorite place to get a steak. I usually get the«our steak» ribeye. It is well marbleized with a side of sautéed mushrooms and blue cheese. Last time I went, my girlfriend and I got the bacon wrapped scallops that they had on special and they were hands down the best scallops I’ve ever had. I will say though, if you want your steak medium, you might want to order it medium rare. They do sometimes overcook the steaks slightly. Besides that, I love this place and would recommend it to anyone who wants a great steak with a down home atmosphere.

I’ve been dining at this establishment since high school and I can tell you that their entrees are ALWAYS consistent in taste, portion size, and #dericiousness. For example, numerous friends and strangers, alike, often discuss their awesome side potatoes and seasoning. That alone will give this restaurant repeat customers!(like myself). :) My friends and I got seated on the 2nd floor of the restaurant. It is def. much quieter than the first floor, perhaps of a missing bar. As a starter, a nice cold glass of Guinness quenched my immediate thirst.(Did you know that Guinness is one of the lowest calorie beers out there?) You can thank me later hehe. Anyways, after the ALWAYS amazing first sip of beer, I feasted on the vinegar/garlic/salty infused pickle and cherry peppers from their metal buckets. Don’t eat too much though, as the entrees will sure to stuff you up and knock you down for a good ol’ nap lol. Usually, I keep ordering the 24oz Delmonico steak with Arthur’s famous potatoes on the side. However, I decided to change the pace and ordered the«Our Famous Hamburger» for $ 6.95. I added pepper jack cheese for an additional $ 1.25 and lettuce/tomato for a $ 1.00 more. I had the chefs cook the meat till it was Medium Well. The table next to mine ordered 4 burgers and they were so big. They knew I was looking and they smiled lol. Ugh the waiting game begins now. Alas, after a few snapchats and selfies, our food came! The portion of the burger was huge! Buttered and toasted buns, 2 large pieces of lettuce, 2 tomatoes, and a medium well burger patty offered a magnificent view. The potato sides was looking phenomenal as well. Lightly burnt with the yummy seasoning and sauteed onions mixed within. I cut the burger in half and began chomping away. At first, you’ll taste the buttered up crunchy bun and then you’ll taste the juicy beef patty. These buns also soaked up the meat juices which was bangin’. The pepper jack cheese created a spicy kick which was apparent while chewing. Ugh, what a treat. No dessert necessary due to the 3rd month food babies ready to bust out haha! Would I come back next month? You bet I will! **If the parking lot is full, side street parking is also readily available.

I love Arthur’s. It’s definitely not the healthiest food you can have but it sure is good. This is a great restaurant with a small town feel. They are known for the ridiculously large steaks at a lower then expected cost. I love the large pickled pepper and pickle bowl on every table. A baked French onion soup crock is how how I started my dinner. The soup is rich and delicious with big chunks of pumpernickel bread. It’s all topped with a thick layer of melted cheese. Unfortunately the cheese on mine got a little charred but I didn’t want to wait for a new one so I accepted this one. My dinner companions got the steaks and I always got them as well but this time I went for the salmon. It was huge and perfectly cooked. The sauce was delicious and it was covered in grilled shrimp. I really enjoyed it. We so had a couple drinks each and a slice of carrot cake and the whole bill came to about $ 130. Great food and great value.

Astonishingly affordable, the feel of Hoboken but with easy parking :) Arthur’s offers very good steaks, sandwiches, beer and service. Their standard huge Delmonico steak is up to $ 25 in 2014 — not crazy — but it’s just $ 10 for a burger and a side of fried potatoes, and a pint of good craft beer is $ 6. People have realized this so the place is packed at all hours, come early or wait at the huge bar. I’m a fan of the old-school bar pickle and cherry pepper buckets on the tables. Yes they’ve been on the table all night, get over that; garlic, salt and vinegar have been killing germs for centuries lol. And at the bar those buckets also have pickled cabbage. Plenty of draft beer but Arthur’s doesn’t have much to offer a beer snob: 7 taps of macro brews plus a seasonal, includes Coors lite, the usual suspects Guinness and Smithwick, also a Brooklyn IPA. The garlic bread is only $ 4 for a large loaf of Italian bread simply drenched in butter, extra hot from the over, impossible to resist, recommend. A burger for just $ 6.50 was *enormous* and cooked exactly medium as ordered, so cheap. Mandatory side of fried potatoes(aka home fries) was delish, another $ 3.50. My teenager got the Rueben sandwich and was stunned by the size, a huge pile of bread, corned beef, kraut plus a thick layer of cheese, 2 meals really, a steal at dinner for $ 11. Other teenager ordered the steak Caesar salad, meat was done perfectly medium rare as requested, fairly priced at $ 15. Vegetarian rating: No. Just, no. One star, they make absolutely no effort. There is garlic bread, also a Caesar salad but be sure to tell them no steak on top. Even the potato side is prolly done in bacon fat. We visited on a Saturday when both the downstairs and the upstairs dining rooms were nearly full, but our drinks and food still found us surprisingly quickly, thanks Maria! And conversation was totally reasonable, no music, just happy diners.
